There are two things I think of when I visit Texas (I grew up in Houston): Julio's Chips and Shipley's Donuts. Since leaving Texas, I've become that person known to bring famous guacamole and crack chips (Julio's) to everything. If I don't bring the crack chips, there's a problem. Consider me a drug dealer in St Louis, MO for Julio's crack chips. There is just *something* about these chips. Come to learn, it's actually MSG, not crack, but I've grandfathered these suckers and try to give them a pass. I'm telling y'alls that nothing, not a single Michelin Star restaurant homemade chip, can compare to these babies. Once the chips are gone, the (usually) tasty crumblies at the bottom of the bag are just too salty to eat, so just toss the bag at that point. Target now sells them online and with the $35 purchase, your 10 bags of chips ship free. Otherwise, in the Lone Star State you can snag them at the HEB. read more

Went in to see what everyone was talking about. It was ok. Wish it was served HOT. However, it was good but nothing to write home about. Staff was friendly. They have a tv on in the dining room, I wish one of the customers hadn't change it to an inappropriate, adult themed show. I'll stick to just buying their chips. read more

Aaahhh this is such a difficult rewiew to write. If you grew up in South Texas, you're probably familiar with the only good thing that came out of Del Rio, Texas: Julio's Chips. These ubiquitous chips never fail to quench your salty cravings especially on a night of fun libations. Fortunately for me, I have somewhat of a self-control for salty foods. I'm torn because Julio's chips seasoning and salsa is heavy on the MSG. I'm still hoping someone in that family will get smart and change this. If you thought Julio's Chips were amazing. Try the ones straight from their shop. Soooo fresh tasting! They have a new flavor called "Freakin' Hot Chips". Oh my gato. I could have eaten the whole bag in one sitting. About this store: they were open on New Years Day, yo! It is located in central DR in a neighborhood where people stop by all the time to get their 'botanas'. They also have Mexi-style candies and hand-made rosary things on the counter. You want jumbo bag? They have jumbo bag for $25 dolla. You can also buy just the seasoning at this shop. Their Julio's Freakin' Hot Chips are in a class by themselves. You won't find anything in the U.S. that remotely comes close. IF you like hot, these chips will give you a burn without ever exercising again. Just keep your favorite beverage handy 'cause you'll need it. I seem to remember some chip company saying "you can't eat just one" but they lied. Julio's is for real! With shipping, Julio's can send you 6-9oz. bags for $31. That beats Amazon which costs $1 less for 3 bags. The chips are only $12 but shipping is the rest. read more

Their chips and salsa were great, but I can see why they are only known for just that. I got the cheese enchiladas and the sauce was cold and the corn tortillas that made the enchilada tasted stale. The cheese inside the enchilada wasn't that great either. read more

Horrible service. I finally walked out after not a single person working there (and there were four standing at the counter) wouldn't even make eye contact with me let alone offer me a menu. I would've gotten my own however they were literally blocking the counter at the front of the house making it so awkward and uncomfortable. It's not just the quality of the cuisine that makes a restaurant great - it's also the service. And there wasn't any. Too bad, I heard the food was great which is why I went there in the first place - I don't think greeting or offering someone a menu is too much to ask when you're a paying customer. read more

Ok so I've never written a review before because I never seemed to care or think that a business had Wowed me enough to want to write one. I had learned about Julio's about over a year or so ago from a friend that came from texas and at the time we both were stationed in NC. After trying it I feel in love instantly and always had to be at her place to eat some. Once my husband and I moved to California our friends had sent us a box of Julios as a house warming gift and again we ate it all with in the first two days! So I decided I would always want it stocked in my home, as I placed my first order ever with them they seemed to make it so easy and we got our shipment in 3 days!! Eager to eat my chips and salsa, I open the mild salsa jar and to my surprise it was Hot not Mild and I just cant handle hot things no matter how hard I try. I gave the company a call informing them that there labeling was wrong. The representative apologized and let me know that they would be shipping out a new and correct order the very next day, I was greatful and went on with my day. Two weeks had passed and I had yet to get my order. So I gave the company a call once more and the representative had let me know that apparently I had already gotten my order and there system confirmed it. Now I was very irritated letting her know the day they had said we got it both my husband and I were home all day and I had no salsa and did appreciate being told I had it when i knew better. She reviewed the order and on there part typed it in incorrectly and was shipped to the wrong address! All I wanted was my chips and salsa for heaven sake... FINALLY a week later I got my correct order (for free of course) and couldn't be more ecstatic, Today marks one week since i got the correct order and i get a knock on my door with UPS delivering me a box from Julio's, when I opened it I had received beyond multiple different items from them for free to apologize for the inconvenience. This has completely taken me by surprise and have never ONCE seen a company care so much about their customers happiness and would do something so big to apologize. No matter the hassle I had to go threw to get my chips and salsa I will always think so highly of this company and how hard they work! They put out an amazing product and genuine values with it!
