~sweet hometown service, incredible custom made affagato, sweet coffee shop decor - fun signs and original gifts.~ 5/5 I walked in looking for affagato due to a serious craving. 'I can do that for you' my favorite thing to hear. The walls had fun witty signs. The espresso in my treat was hot and the ice cream came fresh from the ice cream shop next door. The breakfast burritos were soupy. Tasted like they were filled with frozen hash browns and fake bacon. Which is not cool for a $10 burrito. Coffee was alright but super foamy and too hot. Which was expected since it's not craft coffee, but they're charging like it is. read more

I enjoyed visiting this local coffeeshop in Grand Lake. I did the long drive from Lyons all the way here to Grand Lake via Trail Ridge Road early in the morning. When I arrived, I was craving a coffee drink. Jump Start was the first place that popped up on during my search when I arrived in Grand Lake. Even though there was a line out the door, I was willing to wait for my caffeine fix. Jump Start serves espresso drinks, smoothies, teas, muffins and pastries. The coffeeshop itself is very charming with all sorts of signs and decorations on the wall. There is also an area where you can purchase gifts and merchandise. I enjoyed walking around the store while waiting for my Iced Latte. My one complaint was that there was only one person taking orders and making the drinks. She was very sweet, but I waited a good half hour in line before ordering. Other than that, my drink was great and I enjoyed my time at this store. read more

We visited Grand Lake in March 2023 and instantly loved visiting Jumpstart Coffee. The coffee is wonderful and so was the owner/staff. Every day we came in and were greeted with a smile and a desire to make your day better. Inside, there are a handful of places to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee with a delicious pastry. There are several unique gifts, clever signs, stained glass artwork you can enjoy reading and purchase if you'd like. End of season so they must not actually have the menu that's listed online. Turnovers are about the only good option they have. Long-ish wait for a hot cocoa, bubble tea and a lukewarm microwaved cinnamon roll. The look of the bubble tea is off putting. read more

Overheard rave reviews about this quiche, and we were craving a latte so I headed over on a Saturday morning to check out Jump Start. Bustling at 8:30am with one woman slinging drinks and muffins left and right to the customers pouring in the door. Some small town coffee shops leave you disappointed when ordering a latte, but I was very impressed with my fancy "vanilla coconut milk latte" and "caramel mud almond milk latte". Delicious! And the quiche? Definitely worth the rave reviews. We also filled up with some tasty pastries. Alright so she makes a mean latte, but what about the coffee itself? Well don't worry, folks: we went back for more and ordered two black coffees for the road. The coffee was lovely; a hot, well-rounded blend. Not a face melter that gives you palpitations like Starbucks, but also not a watery cup of diner coffee. Just good coffee! Five stars for Leona and her wonderful coffee shop! read more

I love the charm of small town coffee shops, and this was no different. Barista was super friendly, she provided great recommendations and the beverages were tasty. My only qualm is that there is very little seating available and I couldn't see myself posting up here to get work done. Regardless, still worth going! read more

If you ever find yourself in this part of the country, this coffee shop needs to be on your morning routine. I often find it hard to find an exceptional cup of coffee in smaller mountain towns. I've set my expectations and expect to just get a good cup of coffee. Almond milk if I'm lucky. But this place has all the fixing aka I could order my extra boujee city coffee drink (read: half calf ameriano with almond milk and vanilla + stevia). The woman serving us was so friendly and accommodating. The cookies were larger than my head. We didn't get one but hopefully next time. I didn't appear they had much other food but this was a nice, quiet spot to enjoy our coffee before wondering around town for food. read more

I recently did a catering order and to say they went above and beyond would be an understatement. The sheer amount of kindness and professionalism they displayed was such a breath of fresh air. Love this place!! We came several times during our week in Grand Lake. My husband got both cold brew and hot coffee, and loved both. I got a mocha Frappuccino every time, I loved it so much! Our kids were excited about honey sticks and we also bought a souvenirs sign four our parents and whole bean coffee for our friends taking care of our house. We were very impressed with the friendly service from the young man behind the counter! read more

Fun local establishment, very hole in the wall. They serve bubble tea, which is a surprise addition for a small mountain town. Service is friendly, and flavored coffee options are plentiful. If you're like me, you can get a plain coffee or almond milk latte too. Tasty, although nothing singularly exceptional. Coffee is always good. I walked in yesterday and asked what smelled so good because I could tell something came out of the oven. It was fantastic croissants, turnovers and cinnamon rolls. The first thing you have to realize, it's not S***bucks!. Second, you need to know is the wonderful fragrance of fresh roasted coffee mixed with the variety of loose leaf teas, and unique frozen drinks that make this a sure stop in Grand Lake.The owners Shane and Leona have done a great job making this shop a fabulous place for conversation, coffee, and a wide variety of potential. Quirky, sure it's quirky and always original :D The treats, the specialty drinks are very refreshing on many levels. Went here every day on vacation! The owner is super friendly and very enthusiastic about her product. My go-to drinks are usually a decaf americano (hush, you espresso purists) or chai, both were prepared very well. Excellent selection of non-standard syrups (lavender and violet are personal favourites!) There's no seating (except maybe outdoors on the benches) and I didn't even check to see if there's wifi - it's not a sit down/do work space at all, but that's not what it's there for anyway. Prices were moderate, but much better than what you'd be dropping at a chain place (and for much better quality!) read more

So we drove down the street to the Blue Water Bakery. It's a fine spot. There's plenty of seating indoors and a few tables outside. The crew is young and mostly Eastern European, judging by their accents. (Immigrants? Likely young adults on summer work visas, but I didn't confirm.) The Blue Water Bakery offers a good selection hot and cold drinks, and a small but tempting menu of breakfast items. We opted for the wraps, the meat wrap and the Taos wrap. Good food with good presentation. Indoors there are many tables and chairs for patrons to sit and enjoy. The best part: two restrooms next door, open to the public. Go there just to see the artwork on the walls.

The owner Phillip was drinking a Guinness at the bar when we arrived with his back to the door. No welcome. Just told us to sit anywhere. Turns out the whole family works there. Met the daughter Grace while perusing the menu. Not a lot of options but we tried the chicken wings with pints of Outlaw lager beer. Both were fairly tasty. Looking around at the tiny place made me think of a cozy little British pub. The tunes playing in the background were pleasant. The owner told us his story about buying the business and how his family worked there. Saturday afternoon had only three family members as the wife was out. As sweet as his daughter was, she was far too talkative to patrons and fairly ignored the two groups of people who came inside and sat down. Her dad was in the back washing dishes and we still waited 10 minutes to order our main dish. The other patrons even got up to look in back to see if anyone was working there because they were ignored. About ten minutes later the owner came around the corner but Daughter was still gossiping outside. He scurried around. We split the fish and chips between the two of us as well as the salad. I was not impressed with the food. The small pieces of battered fish were decent but the overcooked fries and the salad were NOT good. I was bummed. It's like they realize the fish portions are small and they overcompensate with too many fries. I really wanted to like the place. The salad dressing came in store bought packets. Bottom line; only come for the beer and you will be happy.
