My daughter (4) and I found ourselves in the area this Saturday afternoon, and we are always looking for new play places that won't overstimulate me, but will keep her occupied for a solid two hours. I was very excited to scope out Playroom Cafe. Playroom Café is the perfect spot for a play date/mommy coffee date, with their small cafe menu that offers coffee, small bites, milkshakes and a shockingly semi-healthy kids' food menu. The area is bright, clean and inviting, with plenty of space for adults to relax while the children explore. I love that I can see my daughter from any angle of the seating area. Solid European song selection as well, I can't even tell you how peaceful it was to not have to listen to children's music for two hours. They offer semi-private and private birthday parties and have a super cute private area to help your littles celebrate! Surviving with 2 young, active boys during winter in Chicago requires a search for quality indoor playground. Fortunately, I have found some in the city and Chicagoland. "Playroom Cafe" is officially added to my list of children's cafes, even though it is a bit farther away from where we live. "Playroom Cafe" is located on the second floor in the Randhurst Village outdoor shopping area. The admission fee for each child is $17, with 2 adults allowed. The layout is nice and adults can supervise their kids with mostly unobstructed view while sitting down. Food offerings mirror the typical cafe items you can find in most places. Shoes are required to be off inside the cafe/play area for everyone. During our visit, we saw the staff who did a great job keeping the venue clean and things were picked up from the ground in a timely manner. They were also working on setting up a private, members-only party when we were there. Therefore, there was a plenty of people working and serving the patrons on a Saturday afternoon. Our boys had an awesome time releasing their energy and enjoyed the waffles and berry smoothie. My partner and I took turns to hang with them at the play area, which was nice to share responsilities while finding time to relax and sipping a cup of joe. We probably will be back at some point because the drive to Mount Prospect is quite long. Nevertheless, we like "Playroom Cafe" and will recommend for patents who are specifically looking for kids-centric cafes in Chicagoland. read more

The place is clean and there's definitely a lot for them to do and see but the fact you can't bring your own snacks and you can't get a regular drip coffee is really annoying. Even when I just had a snack on the table and my kid wasn't eating it (it wasn't even open) the workers came over and hassled me about it just laying on the table. My boy will be 4 in 4 months and seemed to like this place. Parking is free, it was $16 all day for a kid and free for parents, and it was clean. We went on a Sunday from 10am to 2:30pm and it was not crowded at all. Lots of activities for the child to do and comfy seats for the parents to relax. We had such an amazing time celebrating my daughters second birthday here. The planning was super easy, I emailed back and forth with the owner and she answered all of my questions. When we got there to set up there were two girls who helped us organize the goodie bags and desserts. They were cleaning and wiping down all of the toys and tables before the guests arrived. Throughout the party they were helping make drinks and clean up. All of our guests had an amazing time! So many different toys to play with and different areas for all of the kids. Cute little place, but it's an unsafe environment for toddlers because they don't enforce their own rules. The web site specifically says "For the safety of our little one's children over 6 years or 48" Height will not be allowed on the playground!" We were there with my 2-year old grandson on 5/4/25 and there were several children well over 6 years old and 48" in height running and roughhousing in the play area and on the equipment. Since the parents ignored the rules, we continually had to ask the manager to enforce them. Her initial response was to offer us some free food. I told her I wasn't interested in free food, I just wanted her to enforce her rules and provide a safe place for my grandson to play. After several requests she finally asked the older children to leave the play area, but they came back a short time after and we had to ask again. She was reluctant to ask them to leave again and offered us a pass to go the the Hoffman Estates location. Why would we want to drive from Mt. Prospect to Hoffman Estates on the outside chance that location might enforce the rules? read more

I spent about an hour and a half there today with my 2 year old and 11 month old. We went on a weekday afternoon and there were probably 12 kids there total. I would say that a child older than 4 may get bored here easily, but it was great for my boys. The toys are unique and of great quality (for example a wooden play house vs a plastic one). There is a climbing area with several slides, a work bench including a construction dress up costume, grocery/food play set, train table and several small cars. The baby area also has a nice variety of toys that is separate from the main play area. The employees were continually cleaning and organizing the toys, which made the space safe and easy to play in. You do have to take your shoes off upon entering (even if just sitting in the couch/table viewing area). There is a nursing/changing room, and a cafe with a variety of drinks, sandwiches, salads. I would go back, but I heard they are raising the price, so I may look for a coupon if that happens, since I spent $16 today (sibling gets a discount), which isn't terribly expensive, but our library has a similar play area which is free! read more

I'm not sure why there aren't more reviews for this place but we love it!!! Any time we have been (during the day) it's not crazy busy (usually busy after 4-5PM and I'm assuming weekends). It's clean with great quality and variety of toys, the cafe has very good options for both adults and children's. They have an amazing area for little babies (when my daughter couldn't walk she loved this space as she wasn't intimidated by the bigger kids). Great music playing in the background, space for parents to sit and overlook their kids playing and I could go on and on.... The location is easy to find, plenty of free parking, the building itself is new with huge windows. Don't hesitate to check this place out, they seem to host some amazing children's parties so we do plan to host our daughters next birthday here! We had such an incredible 2 year old birthday party here. The staff, specially Judith and Tony were so helpful and make our experience seamless. From entering with our cupcakes and goodie bags to knowing water and juice and other snacks were included to having the space decorated and all set up, we were so grateful for the ease of planning and the support provided. The space was so much fun for the kids and they had a blast playing for two hours straight. We had pizzas delivered in for the kids and adults and everything was so easy. The place was so clean and well taken care of too. We decided to open a "tab" at the counter so the parents could treat themselves to a coffee or snack from the cafe too. It's not my first time coming here with my child and every time the employees are always RUDE. Her name is Darina (she's only one of the UNPLEASANT employees of playroom café) she'll give you a nasty attitude as soon as you come in. She must've hated her job so much that she couldn't provide any essential customer service qualities. Most employees probably skipped training. Unpleasant, impolite, speaks to the costumers in a rudely manner, name the worse and they got it. NEVER coming back. read more

You would think this place looks great for your little ones, but once you get past taking off your shoes... Your mood will shift. The employees here are not nice at all. They always have an attitude and you can tell they don't like children. Every time I try to give this place a chance, it seems to backfire. Darina( got her name from my receipt) has a terrible attitude and extremely rude. Steer clear from the bigger guy with the bald head. He's horrible and extremely unfriendly. I was talking with another mom about it there. She said the same thing and that this was her last time stepping foot in this place. I think I'm done giving this place my time. Everytime my kids come here which has only been twice, they come home super sick. Like fever sick. The first time he had a very bad virus and fever up to 102 for a week! The 2nd time was just recent over the weekend and again fever of 101! Either I am just so unlucky or this place is not cleaned or sterilized often or well. Very concerning. I also noticed when I came at opening the first time how dirty the doors to the entrance and downstairs entrance were. Filled with dirty fingerprints. And this was in the morning! When I came again at 11am again fingerprints all over the windows doors and entrance. I literally had to tell my son to not touch anything and use hand sanitizer before and after our visit. I also wiped down and sanitized everything I brought with me there. They also have this nasty stuffed animal in the baby area. So dirty and looked like it has never been in a washing machine. Like just throw it away! I understand kids destroy stuff but to leave something so disgusting looking in the baby area is just poor business management. It was so disgusting! Idk my son has fun here but I don't think I will be coming back. Felt just gross to me. My son's daycare is much more cleaner and rarely comes home sick so it can't be my kid. Moms beware read more
