When the second grade teacher reported about her problems, she kept her eyes rolling, the way she did made me felt she looked down on us. One day, my daughter was supposed in infront of the class to speak about famous character, she supposed to wear costume, but I did not buy it on time. The teacher called to send her home at 11:00 am without letting her to stay and learn performance from other kids. Teacher said no need, " I will send you the video of others", but, I had not received any video. This is called discrimination or what? Why she not allow her to stay and learn. And that was it, I changed school. This school I had to pay money, returned nothing. My daughter had much help and improvement when she went to Rocketship. They can provide one on one help, later group help. They use different method somehow my daughter grade went up, no more plugging hair, no more stressing movement. She is fine now with As abd Bs. Again, this school is not for slow students, they don't have patience to deal with them. Period.

At the last minute they pulled the rug from under our feet and put us on a waitlist. They kept on leading us to believe that our child's admission was pretty much done. I interacted with multiple folks in their office but later realized they enrolled more number of students than what they can actually intake and then they put you on a waitlist. They do a decent job of selling their institution. Well it was an unpleasant learning experience for us as they did not make it transparent! Anyways we were unceremoniously added to a waitlist. After a few weeks they emailed us that a spot had opened up. I enrolled my child as I was still interested. Within 2 weeks of enrolling we found that their after school person does not work collaboratively with parents or maybe works selectively with some parents based on her liking them or not. We requested a couple of small requests related to how much time she shows movies for kids in the aftercare. She works with an attitude of "my way or the highway!" In other words large part of the after school care is spent every day in movies - maybe 60 mins or maybe 90 mins! We do not know why the school does not hire a more energetic person to lead the after care program who is interested in providing kids more activities and NOT JUST MOVIES! If you want an environment that does NOT support your child's growth through the day in the school where they spend most of their day then this is the place for you! We withdrew our child and went elsewhere. The principal who joined in 2025 summer, is very approachable/ pleasant/ positive person and a solution finder but in this case she was not able to help us either!

The campus is bright, spotless, and features a huge, fantastic playground. The surrounding neighborhood is also beautiful and very pleasant. The staff here is amazing. Ms. Geeta is incredibly nice, highly responsible, and always open to communicating with parents. We also want to give a special thank you to her teachers, Ms. Adriana and Ms. Tina. They are genuinely caring and have taught the kids so much. We are amazed by our daughter's progress. At just 3 years and 4 months old, she can already communicate fluently in English with her friends, write all 26 letters, and spell many English words! Most importantly, our daughter absolutely loves going to school. She actively tells us how much she loves her teachers, her classmates, and the playground. Over the past six months, we've seen such a remarkable transformation in her--she has become so much braver, more sociable, and loves expressing herself. The curriculum in math, grammar, vocabulary, and history is much more rigorous, and they are learning at a far higher level. We love his teacher (Mrs. Phillips) and I know through friends that have other teachers that they are pleased as well. We are lucky to have many parent volunteers in the class because the 30 to 1 ratio in the district is not ideal for any school especially for kinder- imagine being the only adult in charge of 30- 5 year olds for 8 hours. What does that mean? It's up to the parents in any sjusd school to get in there and help out. I feel that because this is a magnet school and you have to apply and take the tour many of the parents that send their kids here have a vested interest in their child's education and are more likely to volunteer and help out in the class. They also have the PTA and all school yahoo group to help all parents stay connected. Hammer Montessori School has to take all the same tests and meet the same requirements as traditional schools in the district. Here is a run down on Montessori lesson and structure for those curious as to how it works. Children receive lessons at the various stations (sometimes individual and sometimes as a small group) and they can only work in areas and on items that they have had lessons in- they have to prove to be proficient in that lesson before moving on to a harder one at that same station. The stations include : Language Arts (literature, creative writing, grammar, spelling, sentence structure, and hand-writing); mathematics; and cultural subjects, such as geography, history, science, art, music, movement and practical life (which in include working on real life skills and motor skills). They also have a music teacher come in the mornings along with time in the library and computer lab (that has a great computer program for their age) Montessori has the belief that you don't learn just from instruction but by doing it yourself. So for example they have the kids count with physical units and then match the corresponding number to the units they have been working with. They start by learning in cursive because kids are more prone to write in circular motion rather than start/stop. When they do the alphabet they learn it phonetically which has helped my son start reading. Go on the tour to get all the details but in just the past three months he has learned to sound out words and has started reading easy books, he knows all of the continents (North America, South America, Asia, etc..) he has learned to count into the thousands and simple addition, and because of the personal responsibility that they encourage in this program he has taken better ownership of his things and a few chores at home. I am VERY gald that this school and Montessori is a public option!

From my personal experience, some of the very negative Yelp reviews don't seem to reflect the Dr. Santha I have known. She is kind, caring, and genuinely committed to doing things the right way. She can sometimes be demanding when it comes to the quality of work, accountability, and professional ethics, but I see that as a reflection of her high standards rather than a negative. I believe it's important to consider the broader picture and make your own judgment based on misunderstanding. Overall, I have found Dr. Santha to be a thoughtful, principled, and dedicated professional, and I'm grateful for my experience with her. But some parents are over involved and manipulative. Overall the campus life for my child was good.

We've had a really positive experience with Genius Kids. Our son joined when he had just turned…read morethree, after attending another daycare for a few months. Since moving to Genius Kids, we've seen a noticeable difference in his development. The way he communicates now has improved so much. He speaks in clear, structured sentences, and his confidence in expressing himself has grown. It's been such a joy for us and even his grandparents to see this change. He genuinely enjoys going to school, has made some lovely friends, and absolutely adores his teachers. He often talks about them at home, which says a lot about the kind of environment they create. We also really appreciate the effort the school puts into activities and celebrations. Even though our son attends part time, they still make sure he feels included. Every kid is happy to come to school here. No matter the age. Every kid is treated equally and cared for. Mrs. Dianna cares and is great at what she does.
