Jumpstart changed my life. It's about more than weight loss - it's about a change in lifestyle. The literature provided was most helpful to me - easy to understand and follow the diet. It also covers the mental and physical aspects of being healthier. I don't have to think too much now about my meal planning anymore and I know like the back of my hand what I can eat and what to avoid. The InBody scans and nutritional coaching really help you to understand your relationships with food and exercise. And the team at the Greenbrae jumpstart is wonderful. As much as I want to write a positive review, I really can't. Jumpstart used to be great a year ago but it's gone downhill. They are extremely disorganized. There is an App to message the team and request medications but no one responds and the App is broken. And you can't get a refill of medications through the pharmacy. It's through the clinician only. But if they aren't responsive online then it requires having an appointment in their office to request anything which isn't conducive to a busy lifestyle. When I try to call the office there often isn't anyone at the front desk. When there is, they are often apologizing for being late or for not responding. There has been a lot of turn over with clinicians and it feels like there is transition happening. Not sure what the issue is. read more

I just quit JumpStartMD. Multiple reasons. Up until a few months ago, it took 5-7 days to get meds delivered. The last time took 3 weeks. Iissed a dose and it took days to get responses to my queries and no the first 2 people I communicated with simply did not take me seriously. At my last weight loss appointment, the doctor refused to put me on a maintenance dose even though I was having trouble eating enough. And the BHRT doctor put me on a supplement and increased my thyroid medication so that my DHEA test results were through the roof and could have caused a manic episode if my psychiatrist hadn't caught it. I went to Jumpstart for hormone replacement and weight loss. I started them both a year ago February. I didn't think I would be a candidate for GLP1 but I was. Over the year I lost 30 pounds and was able to get my medical insurance to help me get the hormone treatment through Kaiser. Most everyone there is very knowledgeable. Dr Burke was able to help me change some of my other medications after he reviewed my blood test. When I went I didn't expect my first blood test to find I was vitamin D deficient and magnesium deficient. My A1C was borderline high. And my care there has helped me get all of those things in order. Their office staff is the best. My only complaint is their APP and message center through the app. It needs some improvement. While Jumpstart is an excellent organization to help individuals with weight loss goals and increase vitamin supplement intake, their Bioidentical (Hormone Replacement Therapy) programs far exceed basic plans out in the medical industry. As a woman navigating peri-menopause, as I am 55, I was extremely frustrated with the lack of support I received from Kaiser (who only wanted to prescribe me birth control pills and anxiety medicine to address symptoms). Carole, the nurse, has been especially instrumental in helping me navigate the medical issues and concerns I've dealt with re taking weight loss meds and in explaining to me exactly what I needed to do each week to become healthier. I lost over 30 with this program, but I believe the benefit was due primarily to the medications, which are available at much lower cost elsewhere. Lots of pressure to buy overpriced and debatable supplements and injections at exorbitant cost. Some of the clinicians much more knowledgeable than others. I use Jumpstart for their Hormone replacement Program and It's been a really good experience for me. Their program is very professional and thorough. I get my blood work done and see them once they've received the results. They go over everything with me each time and adjust whatever may need adjusting. Jumpstart has changed my life! I started in Dec/Jan of this year (2019) I lost 12 pounds which is great , but what is better I lost 6 inches in my waist, and 9% BODY FAT. Greenbrae MD gone downhill since former Director left. Today I got a new trainee clinician. I was escorted into the office by the experienced person, introduced to the new person sitting behind the desk. COVID makes meeting new people weird, but she could have stood up and acted interested. She barely looked up from her computer, asked rote scripted questions and giggled at my answers. The experienced person sat in the corner looking at her computer screen. So weird - no eye contact and completely impersonal. Although I have been with the program for almost two years, the new person did not glance at my records or recent history. Losing weight was easy with the help of the team at JumpstartMD. Really? Really! I wanted to lose 20 pounds to get off my C-Pap machine. In a little over 3 months the weight...and the machine were gone! Sure, I had to change my eating habits. But I can honestly say I was never hungry. Five star clinician 3 star program. I have gone a few times and you will find my clinician Alfredo outstanding but the program needs some tweaks. I have some medical conditions that should be addressed and a modification to the program done for my individual situation . The program did nothing for me , however Alfredo on his own time researched and came up with a plan that worked wonderfully This program does work , is expensive and you would think it could be modified for any medical or other situation. I recently joined JumpstartMD for the second time. The first occasion was in SF, but I could not complete the program because of spinal surgery. Fast forward a few years and too many pounds and I joined the Greenbrae clinic. Everyone was fantastic and corporate was extremely helpful and expeditious with solving a couple of issues. I successfully lost 20 pounds and have kept it off!! However the last few days I have slipped into some old habits. Thankfully I saved all my materials from Jumpstart and all I had to do was refresh my memory, get out my Daily Tracker and 'get back on the horse'. I am an RN/NP. I evaluated many programs. Jumpstart is by far the best. It is based on science, the eating plan is easy to follow and not too restrictive. I remember one meeting with my counselor, can't remember if it was Fran or Kate, they are both superb, I was going out to a high end restaurant and I wasn't sure what I would do about dessert. (My favorite part of the meal) Fran or Kate reached into their file and gave me a paper with excellent information about eating in restaurants. Then she smiled and said, " If you do have dessert really enjoy it". What great advice. I highly and strongly recommend JumpstartMD to anyone who is committed to weight loss and new habits. When a friend of mine saw me for the first time, after my weight loss,she called JumpstartMD the very next morning and now she has lost over 20 pounds!! Great program. I've been going to jumpstart now for 2 years for the hormone shots and I definitely feel much better. I highly recommend them. The only problem I have with this office is that it's almost impossible to get a hold of anyone in the office. When you leave a message for one of the doctors it could take weeks until they get back to you and when they miss you and leave a message about results or anything else it's always conflicting or confusing, then I have to call back and wait around for another week or so to finally connect with the Doctor. So I started Jumpstart MD just before Labor Day 2012 after my mom had great success with the program. They offered me Phentirmine, and I declined (the whole Fen-Phen drama of the late '90s scared me enough to not want to try the safer half of Fen-Phen). It seemed to go well at first, I really liked that I got to meet Dr. Burke (one of the founding doctors of Jumpstart MD), and I got to do an "In-Body Scan" that analyzed my fat and muscle proportions. The idea was simple enough: limit your carb intake to 20g or less per day and you'll force your body into ketosis, which then starts burning your fat for energy. But as Thanksgiving and Christmas came closer, it was really hard for me to stay on track -- how was I supposed to forgo the mashed potatoes and stuffing? Nonetheless, I kept meeting with the advisors, only one of which is a NP (the rest do not seem to have any RD or nutritionist credentials, they are merely unlicensed medical assistants if that). Every time I'd meet with a different advisor, they would tell me something different. One would tell me not to eat the protein bars because it's not real food, the other would say it's fine. I was really struggling to keep on track, I mean, if I could do it on my own, I wouldn't be overweight, but the program seemed to work so well for my mom that I just kept going back every week, letting them take my money. But I really didn't get the support and encouragement that I needed from a restrictive diet (if you're a so-called carb addict, then it's pretty challenging to cut it all out cold turkey). Honestly, I got more ideas talking to my co-worker in 1 hour about low-carb diets than I did from my 6 months at Jumpstart. The big kicker was when I went in today for my weekly meeting and weigh-in. Dr. Burke was in the office today (lucky me, right?!), and instead of meeting with the NP or the other advisors, I got to meet with him. FIrst off, he didn't remember meeting me 6 months ago (which is fine, but instead of saying "nice to meet you" maybe he should've said "have we met?"), but when I started saying how I was having trouble finding motivation and staying on-track, he kind of condescendingly said, "how so? what's so hard about sticking to the foods in this book?". I mentioned how I was on a tight budget, how it's hard to get the items the program recommends all the time, and he starting going into a spiel about how the government subsidizes cereal grains and how America's becoming diabetic because of it. I DON'T REALLY CARE! After being (what I felt) attacked by him, I started to cry, and he was so unsympathetic to that. All he said was "all I can say is, I feel bad for you." Nice way to support your clients, doc! At that point, I was pretty much not listening to what he was saying, and he kept mentioning how carbs are super addicting and how I should just eat all the meat in the world, and asked me a couple times "how can I help you?". I replied back, "that's why I'm here, I don't know how you can help me." His reply was something about learned helplessness, and how I have to learn to help myself (is this really why I'm paying for this program every week, to hear that I need to help myself?), at which point, I packed up my purse and left. Maybe I'm a problem client because I can't stick to this program. But if someone is paying you to help them lose weight, wouldn't you at least give them pointers on how to stay on track? All in all, I feel that the people with the most success on this program are the ones who elect to take the Phentirmine. So, if you are into weight-loss programs utilizing stimulant appetite suppressants and little guidance, then this is the right program for you. read more

I want to start off by saying that the woman I worked with on the phone was very understanding, knowledgeable and polite. She answered all my questions with ease and understanding, that's why I am giving it 2 starts and not 1. She was very helpful, so much that I scheduled appointments for both my husband and I to start the program just a week later. Fast forward to the day of my appointment, I made arrangements to leave work early. The appointment was at 5:45 so this required me to leave the city about 4:40 to ensure I would make it in time. Traffic was bad that day according to Google Maps, so I called and let them know that I would likely be 15 min late. I showed up 15 min late as I had communicated and they would not see me. I was shocked. What a complete waste of my time. They wouldn't even do a partial visit to get things started, nothing and I got the condescending "have a nice day", ugh. I immediately left and called the nice woman I spoke with when I signed up. She empathized with me, offered me a discount, apologized on the Greenbrae locations behalf. She told me that she was surprised and disappointed by their actions at the clinic. I have not rescheduled since my first impression of this program has been tainted. If they treated me this way before I even paid a dime - then what does this say about the service I would receive once I was a member. It's honestly shocking that in an industry where they are so many similar medical programs, you wouldn't want to stand out for great customer service - not for piss poor customer service. So disappointed. BTW - this is my first Yelp review. I hate that is is a bad one, but I hope that Jumpstart MD would reconsider doing this to the next person. read more

On February 28th I was so uncomfortable in my clothes that I decided it was time to buy a new pair of pants. It was time to go up another size, yet again! I headed to the store tried on 2 pair of pants, walked back out to my car and called JumpStartMD. I made an appointment for the next morning and decided I couldn't continue taking care of my comfort by growing my clothing size. I needed to take care of my comfort by shrinking my waist. Everyone was so attentive and kind. I walked into the office on the Morning of March 1st and started my healthy eating habits on March 2nd. I have gone from 170 pounds to 145 pounds, lost inches in waist and hips, have increased energy, better digestion and lower blood pressure. ALL OF THIS IN JUST 3 MONTHS!!!!! I opted for NO meds so it has been a completely natural process--that being said I have been incredibly committed. Noone can do this but me and there is no going back this time. I am looking more forward to the 6 month maintenance part of this plan than the actual weight loss. I have sent uncountable people to this plan and, although it cost my disposable income (+) to make this happen it has been the BEST money ever spent. It will last for the rest of my iife!!! In fact, the financial has been a good motivator to make my loss happen as quickly as possible! :) I can not say enough about this AMAZING plan--make sure your support system is in place with friends and family, this can benefit you on a daily basis. First of all I would like to say that Jumpstart allowed me to finally lose the 20 pounds or so needed to be healthy. The program is basically a modified Adkins with vitamins and supplements to help lose weight. I have been doing maintenance on the program for over a year and have managed to stay close to my goal weight. The clinic has some great coaches, but Alfredo is by far the best one I have worked with. He was able to tailor the program to my needs as I do travel for work quite a bit. He has given me tips on recipes for the program and also work out ideas for being healthy. He is always happy to see me and is willing to spend time explaining how to make the program work best for me and my schedule. He is up on all the latest health and fitness information which he is happy to share.
