Based on their guide, I ordered an XS; however, when the dress arrived, it did not fit at all, which suggests that the sizing chart provided on their website is not accurate. I received the package on Wednesday and contacted them the very next day by both text and email to request an exchange. Despite reaching out promptly, I was informed two days later that I was outside the return/exchange window, which is simply not correct. I was then asked to return the item at my own expense, even though I relied on their sizing recommendations when placing the order. After they received the return, I was told that I would also need to pay again for shipping the replacement item. At that point, after already spending close to $1,000 and covering return shipping for something I consider it wasn't my fault, I requested if the $20 shipping fee could be waived as a one-time courtesy. Unfortunately, instead of receiving a reasonable accommodation and understanding from this seller, I was told that free shipping would only apply if I spent an additional $250. This response was disappointing and felt dismissive given the circumstances. This experience has been disappointing. A small gesture, such as waiving a $20 fee, could have gone a long way in maintaining customer satisfaction and loyalty. I had just spent close to $1.000 on this store but they were not willing to spend $20 on me as a one time gesture for a client. As it stands, I will not be returning as a customer, and I will be sharing my experience with others. I didn't feel valued or appreciated so I am not returning.

I've been a loyal customer of Marla's Fashions for around 4 years. In August 2023, my experience…read moretook a disappointing turn. If I could give the store 0 stars, I would. My sister's wedding is approaching, and I visited Marla's Fashions in early June 2023 to find a dress. I found a dress in a size 6 that was slightly too tight. I ordered sizes 8 and 10 in the dress. After 2 weeks, the 8 and 10 came and fit worse than the 6. We later learn the size 6-floor model was stretched out and the sales associates did not inform of us this at our initial point of purchase. Still liking the dress and with time to spare before the wedding, I ordered sizes 12 and 14 in July. The size 12 fit decently with alterations needed (tightening straps and making the zipper fall half a centimeter lower). I paid for alterations and they were supposed to be ready by early August. The company told us we should use their in-house seamstress as they are more familiar with the dresses. We trusted them. When I received the altered dress (in mid-August), it fit worse than before due to poor alterations (see pictures attached). The seamstress lowered the zipper so much so that it looked like there was a gaping hole in the dress, the elasticity was removed and the straps were not tightened. The manager was unhelpful, blaming us for not managing time well. The manager said that most people need 2nd, 3rd, or 4th alterations... but if your seamstress was good, this would not have to be the case. As we did not pay for the dress to look this way and because the seamstress removed so much material that the dress was unwearable and unfixable, we asked for a refund. We even offered to buy a different dress of theirs in the store that day or pay to ship in a new size 12 to have it altered elsewhere (contingent upon a refund). Both options were denied. The manager stated that it is their policy that refunds cannot be issued (note: their website says absolutely nothing about refunds being issued if the seamstress botches the job). The manager remained rude and uncooperative. The manager took a break mid-conversation and later refused to continue the discussion claiming she has other, more important things to do. The bookkeeper was equally rude, emphasizing the (non-existent) store policy. Feeling mistreated, we left the store empty-handed, without a refund, and found a dress at Esti Boutique on Avenue Road. Esti's customer service is phenomenal, the dress selection is gorgeous and the atmosphere is stunning as well. I could not speak of them more highly. Marla's, on the other hand? Well after this experience, I won't support Marla's Fashions due to their poor treatment of customers. And if you want to pay for a butchered dress with a premium price tag, go to Marla's.

Anyways, a manager eventually came and was much nicer and much more helpful. So that was appreciated. Although upon arriving home and calling customer service to make sure a refund was in process, I come to find out it wasn't. *eye roll*. So now internal needs to investigate blah blah blah....ya I'm never shopping there again. Defs on my boycott list.

Most of their dresses are long sleeved, high-necked and fully lined. They have a few armless ones as well. They also have a selection of Abayas, Afghan Wear, Hijabs and Kaftans. The owners are super accommodating and I never feel pressured. I made a few visits and tried on over 6 gowns before making a final decision. They have a spacious fitting room. Their gowns are typically formal, price ranges are from $200-$300 for something really extravagant. They have an on-site tailor (extra charge) that can make adjustments to dress. I've had a hem done by him and he did a great job. I've lived in TO all my life and I don't think I've ever seen a store with so much beautiful dresses (that aren't an Indian style) that can accommodate a modest person. I will be visiting again! I was content with my purchases during Boxing Day that was more weeks. Strawberry Shortcake t-shirt? Yes. Minnesota Vikings t-shirt? Yep. My first pair of cargo pants from this brand? So comfy. I looked at my inbox. I got suggestions from Torrid. One of them was a Grogu sweater that was heavily reduced in price. OMG! It was awesome and so me. I had to get it. I did something a bit different. As much as I love my go-to Torrid store at Vaughan Mills, I felt the need to expand my shopping horizons. I did a search and found this Torrid store at Square One. I go to Square One at least once a year. Why not drop by to check out this store and the mall? I visited this store last Saturday. It was in the late afternoon. The parking lot in front of Walmart and mall entrance 9 was packed. I managed to find a parking spot by the traffic lights and walked over. Torrid wasn't difficult to find. I walked through entrance 9, took a left, and it was on my left. I like Torrid. Everything I have purchased fits nicely on me. The fabric is soft and comfortable. I also like that sizes range between 10 and 30. It is a size-inclusive store. It's kind of like shopping at GAP. If you know what size you are at the store, chances are that everything in that size will fit you nicely. At Torrid, I choose to be a size 1. I could go down a size, but I like a more comfortable, relaxed fit. Staff here were friendly. One of them was exceptionally cheerful when she greeted me. The plain t-shirts were so soft to the touch. Frankly, everything that I touched felt nice. I was petting the cardigans. I was hugging a lightweight blazer. I was admiring how smooth the leggings were. I like the shoe selection here. It has shoes up to a women's size 13. I'm happy with a pair of sneakers that I bought from this store. They fit perfectly without breaking the bank. There is a clearance section in the back left of the store. I saw some cute items, but there wasn't anything that I had to have. Grogu was my must-get item. I headed to the counter and spoke to another female staffer. With orders that you do online and come pick up at the store, you're supposed to show your order number and present ID. I have never had to do the latter. At this store, the woman wanted my e-mail address and my phone number. Cool! She let me know that she'd fetch my item in the back. It took what felt like an eternity for her to find it. I stood there for at least five minutes. It allowed me to browse the accessories and more. I was happy when she returned with my order. She asked me if I wanted a bag. I declined, as my items were already in a bag. I thanked her for find my order and happily left the store. I love my Grogu sweater. It is lightweight and roomy. I can push the sleeves up without stretching the sweater arms. Grogu is also awesome on it. I also got two sets of rock star earrings. One is for my best friend. The other is for me. You get six pairs of earrings. I like the microphones, guitars, and zipper pull earrings. They are a throwback to getting my ears pierced and getting a bunch of cute earrings to wear. They are comfortable and cool, and are of good quality. I enjoyed my visit here. I'd return again when I do another pickup order down the road. I struggle to find jeans that fit.... But their jeggings are fabulous! I love the website too. Many items that aren't available in-store. Especially the licensed clothing. They have it ALL! Disney, Marvel, musicians/band, cartoons like Garfield, etc etc. Prices are in US dollars, and it's shipped from the USA, so shipping certainly isn't cheap. On the other hand, they don't charge tax of any kind for online orders to Canada, so you save 13%. Plus they often have great sales at the online store! My 2 complaints are: 1. We need all the licensed clothing, like in the US stores. And 2. They only sell wide width sized shoes and boots. Which makes ZERO sense. It's a loft-like space with lots of natural light and really well decorated. One thing that set it apart immediately, is it doesn't have that thrift store smell. They're true to their word that they're only selecting good quality items. Sure, some of the items are perhaps a bit plain, but you don't have to take too long to find a few things you'll like. It's certainly not the case of searching for a diamond in the rough. I imagine woman will like the place even more since about 80% of the floor space is for them. There were several shoppers there and they seemed to have no issue picking out great stuff too. Also, prices are GREAT! Anyone who's 'vintage' shopped in places like Kensington Market will know that things can still have relatively higher prices. My items were incredibly inexpensive, including a Banana Republic shirt which showed virtually no signs of wear for $10. I found out at the counter that this is actually a franchise as part of a fairly large chain (which I hadn't previously heard of). Regardless, they're a very unique and welcome edition to the city.
