The 2 main differences from other sites is the basketball court is outdoors, so really only usable a few months a year. There is no running track, but the 4-5' surrounding the equipment is used as a walking track. Overall, recommendation is high. Just need to evaluate based on personal needs.

Sooner Olathe, I always return to this gym, and it's easy to see why…read more It's a nice gym with an in-the-round running track that got in the way of my workout - and others. But still a fun and cool concept. The YMCA of Olathe is unlike any other I've been to. We'll start with the positives. The employees here are really friendly and they let me right in without any real fanfare or hold up. I think it only took me 30 seconds to get past the front desk and that was that. They didn't ask for ID, I didn't have to show them my YMCA card, and they most certainly didn't make any phone calls. I really like that sort of trust. Most of the equipment here feels absolutely brand new, so even though some of the machines aren't my favourite (and seem like they're for kids), they all feel like they just bought them yesterday. It's a very clean shiny new facility, and everything is in perfect working order which is unusual for a YMCA. Now on to the negative stuff. There's not enough space in the workout room for all the stuff they have. They're missing a few important machines, but those that they do have are really bunched in together. At times I have to actually climb over different equipment to get to other equipment. There is no space. And they put the running track around the perimeter of the workout room. With no barrier whatsoever. So it's really not much of a running track although I don't run so it doesn't affect me personally. But whenever you step around the edges of the room you're actually walking into the running track. I can imagine there would be a bunch of collisions over the years if they keep it this way. Another negative is that their Cybex cable machine is a little bit too wide. And that they get busy and they don't have enough benches for everybody. If there are a bunch of people waiting for benches that's not a good thing. Not much space to use them in either. And they don't have big thick padded mats like they should have. There were some really friendly people as is the way in Kansas, but one guy actually marched over and took my stuff off my bench and said that he had been using it before me and had gone to talk to his wife. That's really bad gym etiquette on so many levels. Also the weights here are hexagonal rather than circular but I have discovered in my travels that it could be so much worse. The Wi-Fi works well when it works but then randomly stops working, which meant that I had to switch to my data. They don't have the bikes I really like but the ones they have here are pretty decent. Overall I would give them four stars. Now do you want to see the naked pix of me in the shower here? Yes? OK! Now? Olathe?

And we were actually the only people on the inside of the nature center, so we got to enjoy it in a peaceful environment. There were some field trip kids having event events outside. My grandson enjoyed exploring, but I was disappointed to see that quite a few of the displays were out of order. Also, I had to tell staff that there was a mouse in bird nature viewing area. A child had left a cracker, and apparently a mouse had gotten in was taking advantage of it! But then I went into the newer section with the displays and another mouse ran out and was running around the room towards my grandson. So I think they need to correct this issue before it gets too out of hand. The trails are great and the natural gardens are as well. They have some great programs for the community. I just think that some of the displays need to be fixed and taking care of the pest problem, I'm sure if they let the hawk in there he would handle it! lol

Sure, try before you buy, but you don't get the understanding of it all until month 3. _________________ What does this mean for you - + $90 Monthly per child + $60 per child Testing Fees + $$$ Sparring equipment bought through them __________________ On average you are going to spend $150 per child a month starting out. Class for 50 minutes twice, maybe three times a week. About once a month testing for about 2 hours. Then sparring equipment... But let's not forget, ONCE YOU SIGN, supposedly you are locked in for a FULL YEAR. Then AFTER the FULL YEAR, you have to submit in writing physically your 90 day request... That means 15 months. Why 15 months you ask... Great question - Hardly ever outside of class hours is someone there. We have been attempting since Nov 2022, it is now Feb 2023 to get a hold of someone. THIS IS Korean AMERICAN Taekwondo... emphasis on American... meaning pay pay pay... here are throw away belts and colorful taped stripes to keep your kids motivated and coming. It is a business, I get it. However, they are not up front with realistic pricing estimates or their FULL YEAR and 90 days Cancellation policies. They play down all the extras you HAVE to pay for too. _________________________ My Kids My kids liked it for 6 weeks. Then they didn't want to keep going because of the frequent testing. If you do not get a copy at signing, you will not get a copy ever in our opinion. We have asked repeatedly for a copy of the contract only to be ignored. Essentially you end up signing a 15 month agreement. You must give 3 months notice after 12 months. We don't remember the 3 months cancellation notice requirement being mentioned at signup, it only came up when we attempted to give notice that we would not be renewing our believed one year contract. We have been with other martial arts studios and contracts were renewed and resigned face-to-face after one year, without an extra 3-month cancellation notice required. KAT Olathe's contract is apparently ongoing until you attempt to cancel, then you are told you need to give a 3-month notice. If you don't pay, KAT billing service starts calling you repeatedly. Kids get burned out and need a break sometimes. Just understand what you're getting into. Master Shim was a very good instructor. Master Kwak has a different teaching technique but is a good instructor as well, although stricter. Master Kwak appears to be the owner and does all the agreements. Also realize, between the monthly fee, belt testing fees ($70 every other month) and equipment its more like $150 per month. Had we understood the contract better we may not have signed up. The business practices were 1 Star. The instruction we received was 3 Stars.
