Booked a reservation 2 weeks in advance for a 16' with shade boat. I also did a walk up for a stand up paddleboard for 2 hours ($51). They have a designated parking lot, bathrooms, and a general store where you check in for rentals. They also have a launch for a fee if you have your own boats. The staff were friendly and assisted us in both the paddleboard and the boat (no prior boating knowledge). Luckily, operating the boat was intuitive and the staff assisted us in leaving the marina, as well as parking the boat (definitely need more practice with this part). The best part was that boats were pet-friendly and didn't require any additional fees. read more

We decided to rent a pontoon while planning our trip to June lake. The website was informative and easy to use. Upon arrival at our scheduled time, we had no issue l checking in. The staff were kind and welcoming. We had forgotten a water bowl for our dogs and they were kind enough to provide us with a paper bowl. The gentleman that gave us the pontoon operation tutorial was nice and funny. He gave clear instructions (no wake in the lake, no faster than 10 mph). He was very friendly to our dogs! Our time on the lake was very fun and relaxing! We did a few laps throughout and just hung out. We had lunch and relaxed. We found half day to be the perfect amount of time, given that we were not fishing. I would definitely recommend renting a pontoon or other boat if you are in the area. read more

I'll admit, after reading the one-star horror stories, I was mentally preparing for a day straight out of "Gilligan's Island." But to my surprise, our experience was more like a pleasant cruise on a lake of liquid gold. Reservations: The website is as smooth as a jazz saxophone, showing you what boats are available like you're picking out a new ride on a car lot--except instead of horsepower, you're shopping for "fun-power." We snagged an 8-person pontoon for a half-day, and the price was so reasonable, I almost thought I was back in the '90s. Check-in: Quick and easy, like fast food but without the regret. Parking: There's a parking lot that could potentially rival a game of Tetris if you arrive late. We showed up at 12:30 p.m. for our 1 p.m. reservation, and it was like finding a spot in a ghost town. But we scouted the place the day before around 3 p.m., and it looked like parking at a rock concert. So, yeah, it's a roll of the dice. Restrooms: Clean enough to make you wonder if they've got a secret bathroom fairy on payroll. They even have showers, though I didn't ask if they come with complimentary soap or judgment from onlookers. Deckhands: The deckhand was a true sea angel, guiding us to our vessel with the grace of a swan and the patience of a saint. Not sure what the one-star reviewers encountered--maybe the deckhand's evil twin?--but ours was fantastic and didn't seem to want to toss us overboard at all. read more

The staff at June Lake Marina were nice and efficient, and it really is a beautiful lake. However, a few things could be better, namely: - Pontoon boats should have ladders so users can swim in the lake and easy get back on board. But right now none of their boats are equipped with ladders, which makes swimming next to impossible. - Pontoon boats should have stereos but they don't. - Currently pontoon rental windows are for 5 hours in the afternoon. Most people would be hard pressed to spend 5 hours on a boat in a lake that small. Luckily, boat rentals are fairly affordable ($200 for a pontoon) with no added gas charge. However, there is a $12 online booking fee. Not sure if this is waived if you book via phone. read more

My dad has been coming here since he was a child. June Lake itself still holds that special magic... unfortunately, this particular marina has forgotten what it means to be part of a long-standing, loyal community. Last summer, we were shocked when an employee--loud, aggressive, and completely out of line--screamed in my young daughter's face. We were taking our boat out well within safe daylight hours, with 10 minutes to closing, (we didn't know) and were treated as if we were trying to steal a boat!The employee actually yelled, "Are you stupid or just cant read???" Absolutely unacceptable behavior, especially from a business that prides itself on serving families and returning guests. This year, we came back in hopes that it was a one-time incident. To our surprise, we were told my dad is now on some kind of "block list," and anyone with the same last name is also banned from renting. No phone call. No warning. Just blacklisted for... what exactly? Daring to continue a decades-long tradition of visiting June Lake? It's truly sad to see this place alienate lifelong supporters with such hostility and arrogance. A little humility and basic customer service could go a long way! I'd recommend the marina take a long look at how they treat families who've supported this town through generations. June Lake deserves better representation than this! We'll always love the lake -- but we'll be taking our business elsewhere going forward. Plenty of other rental spots that still know how to treat people with respect. read more

This review is for the shower only. You buy the shower tokens at the store ($3 for 3 minutes). The ladies working at the register were friendly and helpful. There are only 2 single occupancy showers but only 1 was working at the time, so there was a long line in the afternoon. The showers were decently clean given so many people had been using them. I have been coming here ever since I was 4 years old. Nothing has changed too much except for the fact that they have more boats and paddleboards. Fishing is still great and have always had good fishing. My only gripe is that the trout seem to be of the smaller caliber. But knock on wood I have yet to be skunked here. Beautiful lake surrounded by mountains Lake is always stocked with trout Cons: Not sure if this is a con but majority of the trout we catch are pretty small. We have come to this nation's for decades! The staff is always friendly. The store has your basic fishing needs and is kept clean. They provide a fish cleaning station, plastic bags and butcher paper to pack your caught fish. There's a few picnic benches and Adirondack chairs to relax or have lunch while looking at the lake. I love the old gas pump. It pains me to give 3 stars, but we were really disappointed in our boat this year. First off, they raised their prices to $125 for a full day on their aluminum boats. $300 for a full day pontoon rental! Given, they are the only marina that has bimani's, which is so needed for a full day on the lake. Plus they have electric push start motors. (And i get Covid19 and rising costs of everything in America, but the other marinas are still much lower.. it was just a shock) But our boat was clearly not cleaned the night before. The seat cushions were left in the boat over night, so they were damp when we sat on them. There was water (at least i hope that's what it was) in the bottom of the boat that sloshed around trash, old line, bait, hooks and lead weights while we fished. And one of the cushions had what looked like a week old piece of lunch meat stuck to the bottom, which we ended up using on the bottom of the boat so our gear wasn't getting wet. I just think if you are going to be the PREMIUM rental company in June Lake, then they need to provide premium products. And that just didn't happen this year. We love fishing June, but we may have to rethink fishing this lake on our next trip. read more

When we arrived to use the boat they made us rent a separate row boat for 2 of our family. They wouldn't allow all ten of us on the pontoon boat. I would give this business a five star if it wasn't for Man bun man working on the docks. I witnessed him yelling and talking down to other customers and I was hoping my family wouldn't be harassed by him, unfortunately my wife took his abuse, he was ranting about having five people on the boat. When I came to her rescue, he tried it on me. I said to him that the website states that four people are allowed with a child under 12 years. He corrected me and said that it was a weight issue and asked me how much my granddaughter weighed, 40 lbs. He went on about how we were over over capacity until my wife and I said he was correct so we could get under way. It would help if he got educated on good customer service, maybe from the other "kind" dock worker that we left a $25 tip to. Please educate the man. I couldn't be more disappointed with the customer service. My family and I have rented pontoons from this establishment for many years and this past summer will be our last. My husband was put on a waitlist to get an 8-passenger pontoon since they were booked up for the day we wanted. The day before we rented the pontoon, one of the marina workers called and said a half day in the afternoon was available. We booked it. She said we would be receiving an email confirmation. We never received an email confirmation. We went to the marina the next afternoon at 1 (when the marina worker told us our reservation would be available) and another marina worker told my husband in a very rude manner that his reservation was for the morning. After some back and forth, they told us they were able to give us "their backup pontoon" and that we were lucky one was available on a busy weekend. A older gentlemen (the only decent and kind marina worker we came across that day) helped us get life jackets on our kids and showed us to our pontoon. He unfortunately left to help someone coming back into the marina. Then a gentlemen with a bandage on his nose and had his hair tied up in a bun came to assist us in getting us on our way. He was so rude. When my husband was backing out the pontoon, he just gave it enough power to drift backwards away from the dock, and Mr Man Bun with a Bandage (MMBB) proceeded to tell my husband not to floor it. My husband told him "how am I flooring it? You can't even hear the motor?" And he shot back with "I've worked here a while man. I know when people are flooring it!" We enjoy a few hours on the lake fishing and feeding ducks (we got the duck food from the marina store) and we proceeded back to the marina to call it a day. MMBB was there and proceeded to talk in a friendly manner towards my kids. And then as soon as my kids were out of listening distance, he told my husband that "the marina received a report from the beach police and that he was close to the beach" and that MMBB would need to check for damage to the propellers and the pontoon. My husband and I were shocked. We never went close to that side of the lake. So after gathering our belongings and checking out with the marina (took us about 15-20 minutes), we asked MMBB if he saw any damage and again MMBB rudely told us "I don't know man. I've been nonstop all day and don't have time to check. Does it look like I'm able to check for you? If I see damage, I'll let the front know and we'll charge the card on file". My husband never got a charge but we were so disappointed in the customer service and how rude these marina workers were. We won't be returning to June Lake read more

Came here for a wedding and the dockhand was extremely rude. We commented that he could have a little customer service. The owner (dockhands father) came up to our group (obviously drunk) and asked the entire group of families and children if they "wanted to get froggy." Then tried to fight any of the dads that were smiling at how ridiculous he looked. Guy looked like he had never won a fight in his life so it was quite hilarious. We then received a report that that was the new owner and his family and that no one likes them. It's a shame low IQ people can ruin others events. read more

Yay! 5 stars for June Lake Marina! We had 6 intrepid water seekers today itching for opportunities on the lake. We decided on 2 for paddle boarding and 4 for kayaking. The people at the marina were friendly and extremely helpful in getting us outfitted with lifevests and paddles. They were also very flexible in our rental time with a grace period built into our return time since several of us were a little uncertain on the water. It was a beautiful day and the water was warming as we set out. The equipment we rented was well maintained and we had a wonderful time paddling around the lake. The scenic beauty of this area is impossible to describe. The June Lake Marina also has fishing equipment rentals with rods, tackle boxes, and other supplies. In addition to the paddle boards and kayaks we were renting, there were motorized boats of varying sizes for rent. Finally, the marina store has a well stocked tackle shop where you can find anything needed for a memorable day on the water. As we returned our equipment the staff on the dock greeted us warmly and wanted to know how our time was on the lake. We highly recommend the June Lake Marina to anyone who wants to have a fun time on the water. read more

The lake was beautiful, and after fishing, it was nice to grab beers from their fridge and sit in the Adirondack chairs while we waited for our group. Our dog accidentally got hooked in his mouth at the boat. We rushed in leaving all our gear and they were so empathetic and accommodating. We go to Mammoth Lakes to fish almost every year. June Lake Marina is by far has the friendliest staff around. The ladies in the marina shop are the sweetest you'll ever meet and make your fishing excursion the best. We rented pontoons for 3 days and they were super accommodating and confirmed our reservations. Also, this is a BIG plus...the CLEANEST restrooms at any marina ever!! Clean smelling, cold running water with soap, and it is cleaned regularly. While I was there the kind gentleman apologized to me for having to wait 5 min while he cleaned. He told me he is committed to providing clean facilities...this means a lot to me. I've been to plenty of marinas and the restrooms are disgusting. I'm a little disappointed in the new owner of the marina. The old owners cared and fed the ducks for years. They even had a area that in the winter it wouldn't freeze so the ducks would stay. Now the ducks aren't fed and they never learned to care for themselves. They roam the town looking for food from people and are getting hit by cars. Shame on you!! read more

We have participated in a couple of fishing derbies held at June Lake, and we truly enjoyed ourselves every time we have fished there. The lake itself is easy to navigate; our only complaint was that the anchor lines on the rental boats are WAY TOO SHORT to anchor securely in most spots of the lake. It tends to get windy at the lake in the afternoon, and we were never able to stay fishing in one spot because our anchors weren't hitting the bottom of the lake. The boat prices are reasonable, and although we love having a bimini (shade) top on our boat, the boats with these tops are uncomfortable and difficult to get in and out of. We prefer the pontoons, but the pontoons are quite expensive and nearly impossible to anchor anywhere. The anchor lines on their pontoons are even shorter which doesn't make good sense. The marina store is small but well-stocked with fishing necessities, drinks, and snacks. Everyone who works in the store is helpful and friendly. We were especially impressed with the lake manager, Abby, who always went out of her way to help us out with boat rentals. June Lake is one of our favorite Mammoth lakes. We love the isolated location, serenity, tranquility, and the fact that there are fish to be caught in the lake. We hope June Lake is fully stocked with plenty of fish for this upcoming fishing season! read more

To the owner of June Lake Marina, if you want to drive customers away from your business, then keep dock workers "man bun" and "leg tats" on the job. I've been coming to June lake for 30+ years and have never had such bad experiences. They yell at customers, demean them, and continue to say it's the customers fault no matter what. I patronized your business twice this year spending $300 each time to rent a pontoon. On the first visit, "man bun" did a drive by our pontoon and yelled at us saying "you need to be 50 yards from the beach!!". He didn't identify himself either.. I was bewildered because I was anchored well over 180 yards from the beach. I know because as a golfer I can judge distance pretty well and I was not within pitching wedge range. So, when I went back to the marina for a lunch break, I got within the 5 mph buoy cordoned space to eventually dock the pontoon. Again, "man bun" barked at me saying you have to enter from outside of the buoy cordoned space to dock. After docking, I spoke to "man bun" after about both incidents. I told him that I was well over 180 yards from the beach. He said "you obviously don't know how to judge distances". I also told him that I was not informed to approach the dock from outside of the buoy space. "Man bun" said "you made a mistake". I said "I did not make a mistake because I was not informed of the rules?". He said "it doesn't matter, you still made a mistake". This kind of "customer service" is unacceptable and frankly makes me want to go elsewhere. On my second visit, "leg tats" and "man bun" yelled at us when departing from dock because we had the motor trim up by mistake. It could have been conveyed in a much more polite and friendly way, but they made sure to demean the driver of my pontoon. "Man bun" barked at us upon returning to dock because the pontoon was not squared up with the slip due to the wind. Barking orders as if everyone is an expert at driving pontoons. Another terrible experience. Contrast a visit to the Gull Lake marina the next day where the dock workers were friendly, polite, and respectful. I heard "thank you" and "yes sir" many times from the hard working dock workers at Gull. One dock worker even jumped into the water to help us dock due to high winds! He went above and beyond and earned a $40 tip. What a night and day experience between the two marinas. Just be prepared to be yelled at and demeaned by the dock workers at June Lake Marina. read more
