We spent a week in the June Lake area. We fished several lakes but Gull Lake was by far our favorite. The guys at the marina were very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Skyler was awesome and showed the boys where to catch crawdads. Also, the boat rental rates are the best in the area. We rented a flat bottom boat for $75/ day. We took a lunch break and ate at June Pie - bomb pizza. Then we returned to the lake and killed it. We caught several trout and way too many perch. Definitely a great fishing lake. read more

Got back home and found a 57.00 charge on me credit card called to marina said t we didn't check in to the store that we were done for the day. Love this lake, not the service. Reserved a pontoon and when I arrived to take it out the staff said didn't someone call you?....the boat's not working. No. Or maybe it was like maybe I was supposed to call them to check on my reservation...either way they had me fill out the consent forms and all the night before so i assumed my boat would be there. We so enjoyed the Gull Lake Marina. Gorgeous lake with a nice boat rental shop with super reasonable prices. We visited last minute and rented a boat to cruise around. Not too many out on the lake (late September). Perfect weather and enjoyed seeing the leaves turn. Saw lots of fish. Dreaming of next Gull Lake boat ride. I love the June Lake Loop and by far i think the Gull Lake Marina is a far better place to sit and watch the day go by. The marina itself is small. The boats are not fancy. The prices are better than the other lakes. I didn't think i was going to like the boats with chairs in them over swivel seats, but i was wrong. I actually was much more comfortable sitting in a chair it on the front deck . And the boats are a little wider and roomier than those at June Lake or Silver Lake. Only downfall is there are no biminis. So a full day can get hot and sunny. The store has a great little selection of items. I believe their prices are decent and fair. They have a large selection of carved wood items! I love all of them. Staff were very nice and accommodating to us. I read some other reviews and think... 'we treat people accordingly' is likely the staff mentality. I'm always nice and friendly and it seems i rarely get bad attitude from people because of it. So my thought is.. if you'd like to be treated well, go in with a good attitude and smile and you may just get the same in return :) Loving the staff, the boats, the marina, the lake, the cute sitting areas... i just love this place! Disappointed Experience: I reached out via email first because I hate posting negative reviews. Unfortunately after almost a week there has been no reply so here was my email hoping the owner or manager would care enough to respond. I hope this email reaches the owner or manager responsible for customer service. We have rented boats on Gull Lake for years and have always had a good experience until this past week. Our first experience was August 18th getting our fishing license with almost zero communication from the two young men in charge. We then rented a pontoon boat on August 22nd and after getting on the boat realized two of us had grease all over our pants due to grease being all over the front seat. When bringing in the boat for a lunch break we asked the young man to clean off the seat for us and he said "sure". Upon our return the seat was still full of grease. There seemed to be zero appreciation or customer service which was so disappointing. I hate negative yelps...pants have been ruined and we are sad to think our rental boat days at Gull will not be in our future. read more

We've been coming here for years to fish. Had great fishing days and not so great, but either way, we've always had the best times with stunning scenery and friendly staff. This year we've noticed a slight shift in visitors and tourists. It's becoming a mini Lake Havasau type atmosphere with people climbing and swinging from trees and jumping in the lake and a handful of paddle boarders. I have nothing against people having a great time, but the whole purpose of us coming here and to June Lake is to fish and enjoy the peace and quiet; along with the small town feel of the mountains. We may give it another chance since the fishing wasn't too bad this time, but we may have to find a new spot unfortunately. Great times! read more

We just returned from a wonderful trip up to the June Lake area. We stayed in a cabin on Gull lake and had an amazing time!! We rented a pontoon boat at the Gull Lake Marina for the day and it was amazing. I would strongly recommend you make your reservations in advance as they were book solid, we were lucky with a cancellation. The staff are always nice and it's so peaceful just to watch the fish at the marine and hang out. Great kids running this boat rental spot. Boats were all cleaned and ready to go. All staff was eager to help which is rare these days. I wasn't too upset when I'd forgotten my Polaroid and picked it up and found all my film had been used. Kids will be kids, at least they returned it, lol. Definitely going to rent again read more

Rented the 6 person pontoon boat last weekend. What a piece of junk ! We arrived at 7am . The young man that greeted us was laying on the couch in the office. Told him what we rented and informed him weather showed thunderstorms. He didn't seem to care and walked us to the boat. When I saw it I said this boat is trashed , he didn't care . The driver seat was broken, anchor rope was frayed and some hemostats holding the canopy pole on . I asked if we could get another boat he said they were all rented. Staff doesn't give a crap here . There's one young man ( with spotted hair that seems to try ). Don't waste your time here . If you are renting a boat.... Steer clear! No help what so ever!!!! If you have your own boat-no parking! The employees take up 2-3 spaces daily in an already crowded lot. I've been fishing the sierras for over 20 years. Traditionally I enjoyed Gull lake as an option for fishing the loop. The people currently running the Gull Lake Marina are strange. The place has like 5 cats running around inside. There are a couple of dogs running around outside. Multiple signs about being a " cat zone". It seems like a 1970's hippie compound. They have colored hair and lots of tattoos. Not a family vacation atmosphere and the rental prices have really gone up. Sad times we live in right now. Pass on Gull Lake. read more

Friendly staff. Beautiful small lake probably good to take a kayak , float tube or boat out. I went fishing rented a boat for a day way cheaper then convict lake to rent a day boat. The fishing is good some big fish there but I didn't get one that day. I beleive I caught a native rainbow trot. There's I believe brown trout there Sacramento perch and you can fish all trout stuff lures , powerboat, mice tail, jigs, amd night crawlers seems like mini jigs and night crawlers did the trick. It's a beautiful lake and the boat hands are great and the staff in the shop. read more

We've been renting boats/pontoons from this marina for many years. Buy no more. We rented a pontoon online in August for October 6th. When we went in to get the pontoon and we're told by the kid at the desk that the one we reserved had broken down and they had nothing to offer us. They weren't even considerate enough to call us to let us know, as we traveled 5 hours to get there. We've seen a lot of staff changes there over the years and this staff of dumb kids is the worst. We will never go to Gull Lake for anything. There are plenty of other lakes and marinas with 100% BETTER customer service. After about 15 years, Gull Lake has gone become crap! The owners should be ashamed that their business is being handled by insensitive, careless, immature kids. This place is no longer worth the high prices they charge, go to Big Rock Resort, Mike and Pedro are the best! read more

Claire and Ashley were very professional, accommodating and thorough. We rented a boat and went fishing on Gull Lake. The boat was full of gas, clean and worked properly. We caught and released all our fish, it was a day to remember for sure. We used Lures and Bait, they both worked well. I would REALLY RECOMMEND going here, it was definitely a day to remember w friends. We already have a week planned next year at GULL LAKE MARINA. read more

I've been visiting June and Gull lake for 25 years. The customer service at both marinas has diminished significantly but we have weathered through it until our last visit in June 2024. We rented pontoon boats at both location, fully paid for in advance. At June lake we had a boat attendant get mad at us because of where our fishing poles were located when docking. Instead of letting us know it's inconvenient for him to assist us because of where our poles were located, when asked what he was asking of us, he threw our poles backwards on the boat hitying people sitting on the boat. Totally uncalled for. At Gull lake, we rented and paid for a pontoon boat, again in advance. the first day my son and I were greeted by a young man that was always there when we went out and came in, he was tipped, happily. The 2nd day we were totally on our own, no assistance whatsoever, we actually saw the workers out on a boat drinking in the early afternoon. The 3rd day, a storm came in, there were people fishing off the dock where we load and unload (not allowed) With strong winds maneuvering a pontoon and concerned about people on the dock, it was not an easy task, no help in sight. to top it off on the way home I got an alert that Gull Lake Marina had charged me another 57.00 twice. Upon calling they said it was a tip I authorized- Wrong! I happily pay the people who help. I called my son who rented a boat and he too had an unauthorized charge. They did return the funds. However, It seems as if they are automatically putting through tips without authorization, check your credit cards, very disappointed. read more

OMG this place is amazing! You can just sit on their deck and stare at the lake and what a spectacular view! The marina store has anything you would need in a pinch or souvenirs to take home to family or friends! Did I mention that Gull Lake has some of the best trout fishing in the Sierras! read more

I had such a lovely experience at Gull Lake! I have been coming here for 20 years and this is by far my favorite lake in the loop. We were greeted by a friendly staff in the Marina and were able to get a boat very quickly. I really admired how well the girls inside were able to multitask, especially with so much going on at once. I also really liked how they have made everything much more efficient by putting everything online. The boat boys were very knowledgeable and very helpful helping my family onto the boat. I will say, it is a little difficult to reach them over phone but that's my only complaint. Other than that, we had a wonderful time! Can't wait to go back! :) read more

I've been coming up here for over 15 years and have always had a great time renting boats and drinking refreshments. I took my family and rented a boat this morning and it was the worst experience ever, the boat was filthy, we had a hard time starting the boat, it appeared that they stopped doing maintenance on them. The girl behind the counter was clueless, we were stranded on the lake for two hours plus on a boat that was defective. We tried calling the marina with no answer. We had to bother a fisherman as he was making his way in to please advise the marina of our situation. It took them 45 minutes to send a worker to assist us. Horrible customer service. read more

I've been coming up here for 40 years and this is the worse experience ever. My encounter with the girl at the marina was very disappointing. She couldn't take her eyes off her phone to answer my question. The dock helpers couldn't be bothered. They point out your boat and take off. They didn't help with the canopy nor did they empty the trash from the day before. Boats are filthy. Restrooms are disgusting. They do have the biggest tip jar on the counter. Maybe if they realized a tip is for good service they might get one. What a joke! read more

Rented a pontoon boat for the entire day. You need to pay for the pontoon boat in advance for a specific day. The booking is at least a week out. However if weather is terrible you can reschedule for another date. We had a perfect day out on Gull Lake. The fish didn't seem to want to bite but we enjoyed floating on rafts outside the pontoon boat and going for cruises around the lake. We had eight on the pontoon boat which made it really fun. Very easy to rent from no hassle and return was very easy. Highly recommend this facility for renting a pontoon or fishing boat. read more

Been coming here for about 30 years. Always had a great time. Something is really wrong with this place now. Not sure what is going on but the bathroom was out of order for the 3 days I was there. It was very cold outside so I asked the girl in the office if they had any coffee. She told me that the pot was in the back and if I wanted coffee I would need to make it myself. I asked her where the coffee cups were and she told me " we dont got none, if you want cups I suggest you bring your own." Very rude. A few other people in the store wanted to buy some things and she seamed very irritated that there were people trying to buy things. Store was VERY dirty and i just got the feeling that no one really gave a shit anymore. I hope things get better. Used to be a great place. read more

Then my niece walks in with a debit card and then Ashely says it's declined and my niece said you can't just hit it you need insert the chip she said nope it has the same outcome so my niece walked out and was mad so my mom went In and said you were rude to my daughter and my niece we have been coming here for many years and spent tons of money here she was so rude to my mom, she told her if your daughter has a problem with me then tell her to come in and talk to me. Well I didnt because if I did it would of been bad so we left and figured we would talk to owner! Well I am in the car driving and my phone rings and it's the Gull Lake Marina (Ashley) she said are you the family that just came in and i said yea she said Oh well I dont know what your families problem and I said your rude and second she called me without knowing if I was the family that was in and what it I wasnt I asked her she was calling random numbers of people who rent boats there which is horrible business! For a VERY SMALL lake, this is a nice little marina. It's got a well stocked little store where you can buy snacks, beer or fishing gear. You can also rent a small outboard boat (full day or half day), or a pontoon boat for all-day family enjoyment (if you've reserved one ahead of time). There's also a boat launch area if you've trailered your own. The young kids working the marina are friendly, fast, helpful and enthusiastic and it was a pleasure talking with them. read more

This was the most fun we've had so far on our June lake babe trip. We visited the Gull lake marina to rent a peddle boat. If any group needed more help ... it was us. Noah, William, and Sergio were the best. Each of them helped us with all of our questions and let's just say "incidents". They were all willing to jump in and help. We have owned a condo in Mammoth Lakes for over 30 years.. When I bring my boat I always rent a boat space at Gull Lake ... 7/10/19 Wednesday morning I had to go to the ER with a concussion due to a fall at our condo .. Wednesday afternoon I went to get my boat .. I explain to Will what had happened and that I was physically unable to trailer my boat... He had two dock hands load my boat for me .... I'm very thankful for their help and kindness... If your looking for a place to go fishing Gull Lake is it .. The bait shop even has coffee for 10 cents and free popcorn... Gull Lake is a nice size for casual boating, and Gull Lake Marina makes it easy--if not inexpensive--to get out on the lake without having to be an experienced boater. They offer pedal-boats, rowboats, canoes, and outboard-motor boats. They also sell a bunch of ridiculous country- and bear-themed knickknacks and overpriced fishing tackle. Pedal-boats are $20 an hour, which seems a little steep, although they aren't strict about the timing. We took our boat out at 3:45, and the cashier said we could have it until five without getting charged for an additional hour. If the place is busy, the actual dock attendant isn't very strict or hands on; we launched and then re-docked our boat ourselves without ever talking to anyone after paying. The pond out front is really cool. They have huge brook trout in there, and I really wonder how they prevent bears from making an easy midnight snack out of these sitting ducks--er, fish. read more

Great for a short day trip. We go to picnic, do some paddle boating, some fishing and to play on the jungle gym with the kids. The marina is super cute but one huge problem...NO DOGS. For the Mammoth area it is rare to have a no dogs rule but this place has it. Probably because it is pretty busy all the time with kids and such. Anyway it's beautiful and worth the trip, but I wouldn't spend more than a half day there. read more
