For anyone mooring a boat here, the marina is well maintained and makes getting on and off the lake easy. Several boaters I've talked to have had positive experiences with the docks and marina services, and it's a great home base for weekends on the water. We rented a pontoon boat and had a very disappointing experience. The first employee who gave us the instructions was unprofessional and did not properly explain how to operate the boat. We were never told that the motor had an issue with lowering, which left us stranded trying to figure it out ourselves. At approximately 1:08 p.m. on July 11, we had to call for assistance because we couldn't lower the motor. It wasn't until we called that someone finally explained how to lower it. We also requested a different boat, but were told that this was "the best out of their broken boats" and that it was all they had available. That information should have been disclosed before we rented the boat. We requested a refund due to receiving a boat with known issues, but were told the manager was unavailable and no one could help us. Renting out equipment with known problems without informing customers, then refusing to resolve the issue, is unacceptable. We expected a safe, fully functional boat and honest communication, but received neither. read more

Me and my family have been riding wave-runners for 10+ years. Some longer, we have also owned them in the past. Today we had to trade 3 different runners in due to top speeds being extremely slow. Days ago when we rented before, we were able to go 40+. Obviously we would say something with a runner that does not exceed 25-30... Upon our last trade and my polite confrontation with the manager, I was met with rude and snarky remarks about how I am not using the runner correctly and simply have to "pin it all the way down". He proceeded to argue with me accusing me of lying. Obviously I would not waste precious time returning 3 wave runners before exhausting my knowledge. Especially considering we payed $700+ for a day rental. The rest of the staff 25yrs and under were extremely cooperative and polite. Why wouldn't they be? Shaver Marina is the unloved stepsister to Sierra Marina. But like Cinderella she ultimately shines as the better of the 2. About 10 minutes closer to town than the big marina. Shaver Marina makes up for it by having a fantastic staff. All these young energetic and extremely courteous young men and women running around. Going out of their way to make you happy is a great way to start a day or week on the lake. We rented an 8 person pontoon boat and beginning with the online reservation all the way through the pushing off from the dock was seem less and enjoyable. The boat was clean. Everything worked to we had no head aches all day. The little store on the Floating dock has a little of everything. Whatever you forgot that your wife reminded you of as you were parking the car. They have it so fret not. Avoid the craziness at Sierra Marina and switch to Shaver Marina. We have. Definitely Recommended. read more

It was so much fun to take a boat out for a couple of hours. The weather was warm but still very nice. It definitely beat the Fresno heat by 24 degrees! Booking was easy. We booked online through their website. We got there about 1 hour early just to check the area. There was only one other family there checking in. They allowed us to get a boat earlier than our scheduled time but still just for a couple of hours which was fine and better for us since we had a packed schedule. When we got back after 2 hours, the dock was so packed! So glad we went at an earlier time. Staff were really friendly and explained the rules and gave us a paper with the rules and a map of the lake. The boat we got seated 4 people and still has room for two more people to be more than comfortable. Boat was so easy to steer and drive too. The lake was so beautiful and we enjoyed our entire visit. Their prices were the best ones we found. We can't wait to come back, we will book half day to full day next time! They will be closed sometime in September until April. read more

The place is super clean and we really didn't have to worry about stepping on glass. The people there were very friendly. A few of our family members rented kayaks and had such a great time playing in the water. It was a beautiful scenery looking out from under our canopy and watching the boats pull rafts and jet skis and sound of the waves was so chill. We will be visiting again and very soon. If you're looking to rent a pontoon boat on Shaver Lake, the Shaver Lake Marina is where you should be looking. Our group of six decided months ahead that we wanted to rent a pontoon boat instead of bringing our own. We wanted to space to enjoy each other along with not stressing about hauling a boat up the mountain. Smart choice. We opted for the larger pontoon boat with a bigger motor. We didn't pull anything or anyone, but there was plenty of get-up if we did. Reservations were easy and were all done online. A down payment was applied and contract sent to be completed. I did call a week before to confirm our boat would be available and that everything was in order. I would have preferred to be confirmed either by email or a phone call, but it was fine as is. We didn't have any issue getting a hold of someone via their phone line, unlike others. And they were even responsive to their email. Do note that there is a bit of a walk from the parking lot down the ramp and to the boat, so you'll want to bring a cart or try and grab the few around. Our total came out to around $100/pp and for a full day (7am-6pm) it was well worth it. read more

Generally enjoyed the day but we had to make several trips back to the marina due to mechanical issues on two boats (PB13: wouldn't idle when warm, broken drivers seat; PB20: transmission issue) and ultimately had to end the day early. Customer service needs improvement. Maybe it's due to being the end of the summer season and workers are ready to be home. On 8/17/24, my niece and I encountered unhelpful customers service, twice. We went in to ask if any wave runners were available, instead of being helpful and letting us know they were booked, they seemed frustrated and unwilling to help. Once I ended up booking online for a later time gap, I went in myself and both the young girl at the counter and the man who walked us to the wave runner, seemed almost annoyed we were giving them service. I hope they understand that without our customers renting your equipment, they wouldn't even have a job to do. I hope it's a job they like to do to begin with and if they are unhappy maybe find something new next summer. read more

Since it was the 4th of July holiday weekend we expected some delays in getting in to Camp Edison but the line was crazy - way more than anticipated. Multiple stopped us to make sure and check our kayak reservations so were late to our check in time. Despite having kayaks available past our check out time, there was no willingness to budge at all on the time for us. My family rented a pontoon boat last week. After we loaded, we found out that our particular boat had all of the accessories turned off. This meant no radio or ability to charge our phones. When I asked about it, they said not all of the boats have radios anyhow and we were stuck with that boat. This was after they mentioned that this boat had to be towed in twice already that week because the battery had died, hence the reason why the accessories were turned off.. The girls at the front desk were rude during every exchange that I had with them. After we got out onto the lake, we found that we didn't have a ladder on our boat. It is difficult to get back into a boat without a ladder. We refrained from getting into the water so that we didn't have to struggle to get back in the boat. I had already reserved a wave runner for a couple of days later. We got our wave runner and made it outside of the no wake zone. When we went to speed up, it only went 13 mph. We had to turn around and let the staff know. They said the previous renters had mentioned a problem with that particular wave runner as well. They did switch out the wave runner, but this took about 15 minutes out of our time. I didn't even ask for them to give us the extra time, because I didn't want to deal with dirty looks or attitude from the girls at the front desk. Overall, I was not happy with my experience here. I'm going to try Shaver Lake Power Center next time. Their prices are way better and their staff seems really nice. read more

SCAMMERS They charged us $800 dollars extra for a tiny scratch on our jetski. You are better off buying your own stuff because they do not have the client as their best interest. They immediately flipped it over and searched for scratches to take advantage of us. We rented a 6 passenger fishing boat. The boat was literally run down for the price we paid for, for the day. The steering was very sloppy could not keep the boat straight while strolling or even at 15 miles an hour driving across the lake. Thought we would loose the steering wheel cause how bad it was. There was a Gas leak at the portable tank where the hose connects to. Had to try to fix that. The chairs on the boat were almost coming off where is was attached. The gear box where it shift the gears it was loose and could not figure if the gear was in forward or neutral. Such a piece of junk. Shasta lake Marine seem to not really care about their boats or customers who rent these boats. Why I say this is because I told the staff after my trip about the issues and they seem to not really care about what I said. It was like oh well. Your trip Is done now please leave. We won't be renting from this place again. Such a disappointment in a business that should be about safety of a vessel. This boat needs to be taken out of service so it can be repaired or replaced. read more

Shaver Lake is awesome. There's water trampoline rentals and plenty of scenery. It is nestled in Sierra Forrest so there are trees everywhere surrounding the lake. The lake's water has golden speck's in it from the sand. I felt like I was at a beach when I was here. read more

We planned a trip to shaver with our boat for a week long stay. Our preferred marina was full so we called shaver marina and had used them in the past and were relatively satisfied. I called the first day only to get a busy signal all day. I called the next day and for the following three days, similar to a jilted ex girlfriend... Only one time did the phone actually ring, was never answered but it did ring. For the rest of the time the line was busy. When we arrived in shaver, we were able to get in at Sierra Marina, and it was upon our arrival that we learned that the employees at shaver marina routinely take the phone off the hook instead of answering calls. Now don't misunderstand, i completely relate to being extremely busy, but why not hook up an answering machine to let your potential clients know that you're completely booked for certain periods or better times of day to call and reach someone. But instead you get a busy tone...for literally days at a time. I called them no less than 20 times a day to try and reach someone. Disappointing customer service or i guess a lack there of. read more

We rented a 12 person pontoon boat on 7/26/21. When I arrived the clerk asked if I would like to rent any tubes because the boat could pull it. I was surprised but excited and said yes because we had teens and children. We rented for 5 hours, 1/2 our group went out the first half, pulled back to the marina and we switched off for the other half When the boat arrived halfway through, the 1st group said they could not use the tube because the boat kept taking on water and would not drive fast enough to pull anyone, so we offloaded the tube. Also on the arrival of the pontoon the dock workers noticed the boat wat lopsided and mentioned it. They proceeded to start taping a part of the boat from the dock. We had to wait 15 minutes on the dock while they fixed whatever it was they were trying to fix. We mentioned to them the boat would not pull anyone and they offered to remove the tube for us from the boat. We also told them the boat has no ladder and no way to come back onto the boat once we were in the water. They then informed me that none of the boats have ladders because they are all broken and on back order. But this was not disclosed before we rented. We had very small children and this info would have made a huge difference for that part of the family. We had to stop near the shore so they could get in the water as there was no way for them to board the boat again. A lot of us never got into the water since there was no easy way to get back in the boat. Finally when we docked back at the end of the day, we ask the clerk if she would consider removing the tube do to our difficulty, she abruptly said no without even listening to me. So w opted to talk to a manager since she was not going to help. We asked around and found they were very busy and were told to call and talk to Tyler. We have since called the marina several times and he has not taken our call or called us back. This is really bad customer service. I get the issues with the ladder but they should have had at least let us know before we rented or when we arrived. Also they should know that these pontoons DO NOT PULL inner tubes. Maybe they do if you have 3 people on board, but at full capacity they do not pull, they're the ones with experience. All the people at the dock were aware the boat was lopsided, they were the ones calling it out before our first half arrived back to the cock it was clear from way off in the distance. If a manager from the marina reads this, the rental is in my name, I would appreciate a call back. On a side note the people there are really nice, the lake is great, I just wish they would help with issues. read more

Certainly well located. Decent prices for rentals and gas. Been coming here for years to gas up my buddy's boat. This year I rented a jet ski....er.....personal watercraft. It was beat up on the outside but it was a great ride. Three people can fit comfortably and it got up to 45 mph. It cost $200 for 5 hours of great fun. The dock people and the office staff are great to deal with....very efficient and friendly. Everything we have done at Shaver Lake from the markets, to the restaurants to the campsite at Camp Edison and the Marina are all terrific. Great people interested in you having a good time. They do not tolerate BS and families like ours are treated like gold. read more

Some friends and I recently rented a 12 person party barge for labor day weekend from the marina shop in Camp Edison. It was the deluxe boat, which meant it had a BBQ on board, plush seats, and a roof and all for $250 for the day, split between 12 people (or 9 in our case) that equals CHHEEAAPPP!! It was a blast. Shaver is easily one of the most beautiful lakes near the Central Valley and it's in close proximity to Huntington lake/sierra summit and Dinkey Creek (which is about 1/2 hour up the road, i pretty much grew up spending my summers here.. natural waterslides!) and the town of Shaver itself is adorable with many places to stay, eat and camp. The staff was really nice, and totally cool with a bunch of 20-somethings ready to party on the lake for the day. And the marina shop has everything you might have forgotten for your lake day, at a premium price but that's about right.. it's in the mountains and lets face it, they saw you comin'. We pretty much cruised around the lake, got out and swam/climbed rocks, and BBQed/drank all day. Shaver is always a little bit colder than other lakes like Pine Flat or Millerton but I like that, and it isn't normally as crowded as other lakes. It's no where near as freezing as Rediger though. Pro-tip: They are draining the lake over the next year to re-surface the dam I think (or do something to it) so summer 2011 might not be a great for boating, but there's supposed to be an old train... yes a TRAIN... at the bottom of the lake.... awesome! read more

I've rented from here several times before, but most recently this past Thursday. It wasn't crowded, and the staff was really friendly. The guy that loaded us on our pontoon was funny and making the kids laugh (I think his name was Jeremy, but I don't remember). We had a great time on the lake, and check-in and check-out were fast and problem-free. Parking can be a little tough here when it is crowded, but we got pretty good parking. Definitely convenient if you're staying at Camp Edison, and the prices aren't bad. read more

I have been calling Shaver Lake Marina to cancel my boat all day and no one picked up. I called 9 times. The phone just rings forever and there isn't an answering machine or anything. I started to get concerned mid-afternoon when I had been trying to reach someone there since 11:30 a.m. I tried throughout the afternoon and then again after I got home from work with no success. I will try tomorrow from morning to evening once again. I'm mostly worried because I left my credit card info with these people in order to reserve the boat (which I'm permitted to cancel free of charge as long as I do so in advance) and now I mysteriously can't get in touch with anyone at Shaver Lake Marina (the same number I called to reserve the boat and the same one listed online and on the yelp page). Hopefully someone picks up tomorrow so I can cancel the boat - and I plan on deleting this review if I'm able to get in touch with a Shaver Lake Marina employee...If the owner/manager of the business reads this, PLEASE pick up the phone tomorrow! read more

I've been coming to this lake for a long time and have rented from all of the marinas. All of the guys on the dock preparing the boats/jet skis were great. But the girls working inside the marina were very rude. I didn't catch her name but a young blonde girl hardly answered our questions and gave us rude looks and whispered to her coworkers about us as we filled out the rental paperwork. I would recommend one of the other marinas over this one. Much better service and kinder employees! read more

Updating my previous review - beware if you reserve equipment ahead of time they require a credit card number, the problem is that they write your credit card number down on a reservation slip - it's not stored in a secure system, just filed away manually where any number of people can see it. This is against PCI policy and the card issuers would have a problem with it. Just beware. read more

I was so glad I got to go to California this summer before the whole state dries up and burns up and blows away! The mountains are beautiful and the lake is crystal clear. Not too crowded for boating and fishing, even on the weekend. The only problem I had was that the only way down to the marina by foot is treacherous, and should have either some wooden steps put in, or even a rock stepping stone stairway. The old store/restaurant and rental cabins are being refurbished, and will hopefully be open by next season. read more

To our luck-labor day weekend too-They called us and told us they had an availability for a full day rental.
