Absolutely HUGE Shoutout to a young lady Pharmacist who assisted my wife yesterday !! We are traveling on a Cruise through Alaska, and my wife developed a Stye on her eye. We went to the Juneau Pharmacist and purchased some "on the shelf" ointment. We went to the Pharmacy Window inside and inquired about it's effectiveness. The woman Pharmacist said yes, but to couple it with a warm cloth and a Green Tea Bag. Sounds a bit strange, but here 24 hours later, the Stye has shrunken significantly, and my wife is on the road to recovery. Juneau Drug no longer seems to care about the people who actually live in Juneau year around. It use to be a local drug store for local Juneau residents. You go in there now and all you see is tourist stuff. Not to mention the tourist take so much of our stuff and make it challenging for the locals to get what they need. One drug store for downtown Juneau is just not enough anymore. read more

I was on a cruise and needed a few things that the shop on the ship didn't have. The store has a nice selection of toiletries and over the counter medication. They also have some souvenirs. I bought some cute Alaska themed stickers along with my needed items. The people working were very nice. The store layout makes it a little crowded, especially near the register. There isn't really an obvious place to stand in line to checkout. read more

The Pharmacy Tech I interacted with this evening shouldn't be working with customers. I came in seeking advice from the pharmacist, and as I approached the counter I was inadvertantly interrupting a story she was telling the RPh/PharmD. I wasn't in a rush and would have waited, no problem. She looked at me with such a look of borderline contempt and dismissiveness it felt aggressive. Wow. I've worked front end in a pharmacy and know how crazy it can get. She shouldn't be dealing with the public. Process the Rxs someplace where you don't have to interact with people you don't know/recognize. This small town deserves better patient interpersonal interactions with the primary point of contact. I felt just stunned by her immediate reaction. Definitely will not be going back. So sad, because this is a sweet town and you'd hope an easy interaction in the early evening would be kind, approachable, and considerate. read more

Good selection of drugstore stuff and touristy stuff, although a bit overpriced. To be expected. They weren't the friendliest peeps, but they have to live in Juneau, so I totally get it. It's in a cool historical building. They likely have what you're looking for. read more

The girls up front were very helpful and kind. Specifically one by the name of Allyson, who promptly gave us very specific directions within the store to find exactly what we were looking for. Located at the corner of Front St and Seward St. Juneau Drug is a short walk from the cruise ship docks. Just head North towards the Marine Park and its two blocks up the street. This place has every medication or personal care item that you may have forgotten to pack for your cruise. They also have a large selection of drinks and snacks. There is a full service pharmacy as well. Service was friendly and helpful. It really saved me when I was far from home and needed something quickly, with the ships shops closed in port Juneau Drug was a life saver :) read more

The two girls working tonight wouldn't listen to my wife when she asked for a specific item, stating it was on the shelf (it wasn't because a RPh must get it from the back). By the time she got and said to try Fred Meyer my wife was frustrated so we left. It was 7PM and we couldn't find a ride (we were on a cruise). My wife decided to get the shelf Advil cold and sinus and we went back in....only to here these girls mocking my wife and talking very disrespectful of her. Other customers came left the store commenting about them as well. How disappointing. read more

This drug store is overpriced but it has all the stuff you need while on vacation - toothpaste at $5 a tube, contact lens cleaner, deodorant, snacks, and drinks. The pharmacy here is helpful too if in a bind. We were in and out fast to get our toothpaste but the cashier working was pleasant. Store is clean although it has a small selection and high prices. read more

Who knew! A small drug store on Front Street in Juneau, Alaska that sells THE BEST POPCORN in the world!! We went in to just get some tourist things and ended up w several bags of popcorn to take back to the ship!! The smell just grabs hold of you when you walk in. Then you taste it!! Beyond flavorful!! Addicting! You will be very happy if you try this popcorn. THE BEST!! read more

I would avoid. Even though it may be convenient, the young people working there are not too friendly and left a poor taste in my mouth. I overheard them negatively discussing customers who had done nothing wrong and who were still in the store. With 1.3 million tourists descending on tiny Juneau from May to October it's the one drugstore that locals can walk to and get prescriptions filled professionally and promptly. I also appreciate they don't sell tobacco products and stock seasonal items that appeal to residents and visitors alike. read more

On our recent Alaska cruise I found I'd forgotten some of my medications and was happy to see the Juneau Drug sign as we were docking since getting them from the ship's doctor would have been prohibitively expensive. The pharmacy staff at Juneau Drug Co. was very helpful in contacting 2 different pharmacies to get my prescriptions and filling them with just the amount I needed for my trip. It took some time but we had only planned to walk around town anyway so that was fine and we ended up having a great lunch at The Hangar on the Wharf and enjoying our day while we were waiting. My family and I walked into this store looking for some supplies to buy and bring back to our ship. I walked back to the pharmacy and asked a woman if she carried the 2X the strength Devils Club Salve. She said she had never heard of it. I told her we had just bought some in Ketchikan. I asked her if she thought there might not be a difference in what she had compared to that one. Before she could even answer, a man with curly, dirty blonde hair, that was also behind the counter, asked me why I kept asking the same question. He then asked if I was expecting a different answer. He was terribly rude and condescending for no reason. I wasn't even talking to him. VERY RUDE AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!! read more

Ok, so I am commenting one year after the fact...but it still bothers me! I am one of the many who forgot to pack one of my meds and my cruise was sailing the next day. A common thyroid med. I had the name of my mail order pharmacy--a very well known one in the lower 48. Adam, who was totally disinterested to start with, said he could not locate the mail order pharmacy to verify with them. It was a Saturday and I could not reach my doctor in Florida. He would not give me the medication. I was in tears, and I am not the emotional type. I gave a 2 star rating only because the young lady pharmacy tech was so kind. Otherwise a single star is warranted. (This occurred July 2019.) It was bad enough that he could/would not help me but the snide attitude was uncalled for. Obviously I was able to survive for 9 days without the medication. No thanks to Adam!! (OK, it was my fault that I forgot it, but did he have to be so nasty?) read more

I'm a local and have used Juneau Drug for my Rx refills for the past 24 years...until recently. So a few months ago I walk in with my prescription for fill, the dark haired lady (I'll refrain from naming names) tells me they can't fill it, they didn't have it in stock. Okay fine, I'll take it down the street to Foodland. No problem-Will had it processed in 10 minutes. December, new script-same story, Will at Foodland got my business. January, I call ahead of time. I asked the pharmacist if they will be ordering my medication so I can continue to "Keep It Local". She said "No, I'm not going to order it, you're the only one taking this medication and it's not worth my time-hows that for an answer!!!", and she hung up the phone. WOW!!! Just WOW! I know they've had some changeover in staff, but you can't keep a business if you treat your locals like shit!!! Save yourself a trip downtown and go to Foodland. Rx price are cheaper as well. read more

Was on cruise and not feeling all that well with a lingering cold. Had emailed my doctor with our next port information and this pharmacy. When I arrived in Juneau I taxied to pharmacy and my prescription was ready and insurance accepted. Highly recommend. Nice variety in store, pharmacy most helpful. read more

I was in town and had a terrible cold. I walked to the drug store to talk to the pharmacist. I started asking him about what he would recommend. He didn't even look at me, when I started to walk away, he said he was listening and then said something like he had heard it all before. He did finally walk over to the shelf with cold medicines on it and gave me some information about them, but only information that was on the packages. I told him I would figure it out. I can read the packages. He was no help and was condescending, unprofessional, uncaring, and discourteous. I was too sick to go elsewhere and didn't know if there are any other pharmacies in this tiny town so I did buy some items. I don't know why he displayed such an attitude with me, except I'm sure he was tired of the tourists. I was not rude to him. I simply had asked if I could ask him a question. If you have the option, go somewhere else or at least avoid the pharmacist because he will not help you and you will be on your own anyway. read more

After departing for a long planned Alaskan Cruise, I discovered that, in the hectic days before our departure, I had forgotten to take an adequate supply of my prescriptions. Fortunately, I keep a list of them in my wallet. Upon presenting my dilemma & the list to the pharmacist, he advised that he would do what he could as quickly as possible. My wife & I left for a shore tour and when we returned to the store later, he was able to provide me with a 10 day supply of meds. What a life saver he was.
