Since this chain is owned by the same one that runs Kroger and Smith's I was excited that I could earn rewards points with my purchase! The store has a big deli and bakery with fresh items, and has all sorts of local and national brands. The prices are on the high side (this is Alaska, after all), but they carry just about everything you could ever need or want. Was planning a picnic for a nice day and was thinking the Alyeska chicken pita wrap (pita, chicken deli meat, feta, bell peppers, tzatziki sauce) would be perfect with some grapes. I had just seen them there 3 days before. Flash forward to yesterday, the chicken pitas were not available and at first the lady behind the deli counter had no idea what chicken pita I was referring to. Then, she remembered. The deli chicken meat was behind schedule and they were waiting for it to come in. None of the other sandwiches really interested me and it would cost too much to plan out the ingredients for one pita. Left empty handed and unsatisfied. The store was crowded and they were busy stocking shelves. I couldn't find what I needed and not a single person stocking shelves could take the time to assist me. At the check out in front of me was a mother using WIC coupons and this cashier was totally screwing up getting her through check out. This young lady had everything in order yet the cashier screwed up everything then blamed it on a manager that came over to help her over ride a mistake. I've never felt so embarrassed for that poor young Mom. Sheesh, 30 minutes to check this young lady out! THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE PHARMACY ONLY!!! I don't know what it is with Fred Meyer Pharmacy's. Even down south they are terrible. Constantly getting prescriptions wrong, losing prescriptions, giving the wrong dose, not having prescriptions ready that were called in. This seems to be par for the course for Fred Meyer Pharmacies. They must grab the lowest on the totem pole to save money. Here in Juneau, though, they are not just inept, they are downright RUDE. Last week, I went in TWICE to get a prescription filled. The first time, they were unable to fill it. They said the doctor declined the prescription. THEY SENT IT TO THE WRONG DOCTOR! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Talk about a violation of privacy. The second time, I went in, confirmed with the doctor that morning that the prescriptions were accepted and sent to Fred Meyer. I show up, Only ONE is ready. The second one... "We never got it." So, I have two prescriptions that go together and they didn't get the second one? MAYBE I'd buy that it was an honest mistake, except at the same time I was getting mine, I heard the pharmacist and a customer in the drive thru having the SAME conversation. Yep. Lost there's too. It was my fault though, apparently. Frustrated I accused them of losing my prescription. Pharmacist replied. "Really? I lost it? Where would I put it? Maybe next time BRING IT IN so you can verify that we don't lose things." Forget the fact that they had lost another customers prescription that day. Now, in order to have it filled correctly I have to bring it in and WAIT for it to be filled? You have to be kidding me. I told him that Fred Meyer always seemed to lose my prescriptions or get them wrong. I was frustrated and I will admit I was rude. But, here's the thing, I AM THE CUSTOMER. After a few moments, I tried to apologize for my attitude, but he wasn't having it. "You accuse me of losing your prescription and now you want to apologize?" Sorry, bub. It's not like it's YOUR JOB or anything to fill prescriptions. I don't expect great customer service in Juneau, but I won't tolerate rudeness. To his credit, he did give me another emergency dose without me asking, which he did not have to do. But his attitude and his refusal to accept my apology or apologize for his tone with me is unacceptable. We are taking our prescriptions to IGA. Hopefully the guys there can count pills right and perform the one job we pay them to do. And maybe not be royal D-bags in the process. read more

I would like to complement a local pharmatist, Michael, working in your Juneau store pharmacy. My elderly wife spent a recent week in our hospital with pneumonia. When she was discharged the Dr. recommended she procure an oxygen level meter(one that attaches to the end of your finger) so she could record her oxygen level at home during recovery. Due to the Cvoid19 situation there was a buying rush on medical items such as this, and your pharmacy in the Juneau store was out and was having issues keeping up with the demand. Michael went out of his way, above and beyond what we would expect and not only located a meter, but delivered to our house after his work day was over. This Fred Meyer was bigger than most in Anchorage, similar in size to the one in west Fairbanks. We stopped in during an airport layover around 11 am on a Saturday and enjoyed how quiet the store was. We got some great deals on hats and gloves, picked up some nice-looking organic produce and ate sushi from the sushi bar. The sushi that was on the shelf was a little dry however the sushi that we watched being made was fresh and flavorful. read more

Be aware that the employee, Ellen( the name she told me),walking the aisles may be on a break and tell you not to bother her if you need to ask a question! The employees should wear a hanging "Don't bother me, I'm on a break" sign if that is the store's policy. The Juneau Alaska Fred Meyers offers a large variety of departments suitable to whatever I may need. Each of these departments have very affordable prices to all customers. I love shopping at the Juneau Fred Meyers, strictly for their second-to-none prices on all their products. However, that should not be only reason I love to shop there. Nearly all the employees you may interact with during each visit have very poor and unacceptable customer service skills and attitude. Most employees I have dealt with there have either shown obvious body language that they don't want to be there, or look like they don't want to help me and are just tolerating their work day because it pays the bills. It can put me in a bad mood and often cause me to second-guess myself when planning to shop there. Although, the place lacks in customer service as a group, there are a very small few employees I've come in contact with who make me really enjoy my experience there. One of which I've had the pleasure of checking out with today. I had just finished grabbing my last few food items from a small grocery shop and was ready to check out. As I head to the register with the shortest line, right away I'm greeted with a smile from behind the counter. The cashiers name was Mikayla. As I checked out, she made me feel very welcome as a customer. She hardly ever broke eye contact with me or lost her smile as we engaged in some small talk while she scanned and bagged my items. Then after the transaction was complete she smiled one last time as she told me to have a great day.
