I stopped in here on my way to Houston for an appointment for a breakfast item. I was disappointed to find that the store is preparing to close. They are only open M-F 9:00 to 5:00 and closed on the weekend. I landed up with some really good sugar cookies out of the cooler and that was it. Stopped in on my way back to Corpus from Houston for lunch. Plastic utensils, foam plates, cups, and paper napkins dispensed from a dispenser at each table. You order at a counter then have a seat and they call your name to pick up your order and return to your table. They also have gas pumps out front and a small convince store adjacent to dining area. Ordered a combo plate of briquet, sausage, and chicken with coleslaw and potato salad. Portion size was huge and I couldn't finish it all. Coleslaw was pretty sweet, potato salad was ok. Brisquit and chicken tasted overly salty to me and nothing had a very distinct smoky flavor. After you eat, you are on the honor system to tell them what you had as you get ready to pay before leaving. Did not get a ticket to take to register. Staff was very nice and friendly, I just did not find the food to my taste. Back again a few months later. Food was much better, Raised them up to 4 stars. I have always seen great customer service (actually one memory is of two people who worked as team to get everyone helped!). EXCEPT for today - WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT! She was obnoxious- kept talking to two teen employees (maybe one was in her 20's" but rude- rude- rude Funny thing: I asked her, who is your manager? She said "I am"- yikes. Dead end. I love their brisket, kolaches and jerky( in a choice of flavors and meats) . Good color, great flavor and tender has been my experience.... so far, but i guess we all have an off day.... Perhaps it's the Southern in me but I have been craving jerky. I still remember to this day that I had the best jerky on the way to a Corpus Christi (Yes, home of Selena!) tournament. Every year that we would go to the Corpus Christi debate tournament, we would stop to this little barbecue shop. It's so good that I recently hounded my old High School debate teacher for the name of this restaurant. Unfortunately, she only told me it was a place outside of El Campo and found someone on Facebook and told me it was on Highway 59. Through all the google searches, I came up with 3 BEST places since apparently the area is filled with Barbecue places. *sigh* I tried my luck with Jr's and decided to order a pound of Pepper Beef Jerky and a pound of Pepper Turkey Jerky. They both are good but I prefer the Beef one better. Ribs had a nice chew to them. Unsauced they had good flavor on their own but were served a little under temperature. Beans were undercooked and under temp as well which was sad. Potato salad was a little sauce heavy and with few potatoes in it. I used to eat at the Mk BBQ place down 59, but since it has gone downhill, I decided to try Juniors. I'm glad I did. The BBQ is good, the brisket is better than the sausage, but both are tasty. I love the type of Cole Slaw that they make, and portions are very good. The green beans have plenty of flavor and big chunks of bacon, and the place is nice on the inside. 5 stars mainly for being pretty good, which is a HUGE improvement over the M barbecue down the street. read more

Apparently the owner only cares about getting your money and not about customer satisfaction. Have spent 3000-5000 here over the last couple years for deer processing. This year got some product back that was almost inedible. Have spent months trying to get ahold of the owner because the manager will do nothing to help. No response. Went in person to try and speak to someone, no luck, I left another message for owner and the employee working even told me " I'll take the message, but he's not going to call you" . Great stop for lunch or dinner. I'm working in the area and stopped for gas one day and went inside for a drink to find good food cooked and uncooked. The chicken salad is a must try, I get it every week to make sandwiches for lunch at work. All of the bbq is awesome, especially the western poboy if you are really hungry. The frozen section is awesome too, I recommend the buffalo steak, bacon wrapped quail breast, and the stuffed pork chops. Planning to try their sausages soon also. read more

This used to be my favorite place to stop for smoked meats, hot lunches, and kolaches. They had some of the best poppyseed pecan cinnamon rolls I have ever eaten. Now they hardly have anything at all. Their selection is severely limited in all categories. It almost looked like they were liquidated. I bought the only variety available of the "survival" smoked meat sticks. They used to have many more options. I'm actually depressed now that I stopped. I assume Covid the Buccees up the road hurt their business. It's sad because their food and products were far superior to Buccees and the other smokehouse to the south (Praseks). Poor Juniors! This used to be one of my family's favorite stops on our way to the deer lease. If you would have asked me a year ago I would have said, "hands down the best! Make sure you stop there and get a pulled pork sandwich or a slice of pie". Now it's a different story. They no longer carry their famous pulled pork sandwich, their food options are limited and their hours are sporadic and not as posted. I love the kolaches (especially cream cheese), cream cheese roll, pig in the blankets, chicken salad, sausage (original flavor?), and buttermilk pie! The staff are fairly nice and helpful.
