During our conversation, I was directly asked, "Are you Muslim?" I was stunned. My religion--or whether I practice any religion at all--had absolutely nothing to do with ordering a birthday cake. Being questioned about my religion during a business interaction made me feel singled out, judged, and extremely uncomfortable. What concerns me further is that the business has since publicly responded to my review and acknowledged that the question was asked, while attempting to explain the context in which it was asked. For me, the context does not change how inappropriate and unsettling that question felt. I have screenshots of the original conversation, including the "Are you Muslim?" message, sent from the business phone number listed on record. I am sharing only what I can document. I ultimately chose not to do business with them. I'm sharing my experience because neighbors deserve to know how a prospective customer was spoken to and can make their own decision about where they choose to spend their money.

After getting the usual responses for bakeries that are so so and very over priced and spending way to much time on yelp, I got a few recommendations for this little place called The Sweet Tooth in Rosenberg. I was skeptical. I couldn't find anything about them online. No website, no reviews, no nothing. My mother in law and I blindly ventured out into Rosenberg to see what this place was all about. When we pulled up to the little white house I was even more skeptical. When we walked in the door and were surrounded by this incredible smell of fresh cakes baking and adorable cakes waiting to be picked up, I began to have hope. The owner, Andrea, greeted us and showed us her portfolio book. She was very nice and helpful. I looked through her pictures and didn't see exactly what I wanted. I was going for a magnificent 3 tier cake with greatness. I showed her a couple pictures of cakes I had found on the internet. I told her how I wanted to combine some of the elements from the three different cakes into my son's special cake. She said they don't do fondant (I was temporarily saddened but got over it the second her buttercream icing hit my lips) and then she immediately started sketching the cake of my dreams. She gave us a very reasonable price, which we paid, and one of the most delicious cupcakes I have ever had. I almost wrote her a glowing review that day but decided I'd wait to see my cake. I'm glad I waited because I probably would've given her 4 stars. After seeing, smelling and tasting my son's incredible birthday cake I now give The Sweet Tooth in the run down, little white house in Rosenberg 5 stars!!! We went with the white cake with bevarian cream filling. SO YUMMY!!! It had two regular cake tiers (I think a 10 and an 8) on the bottom and the most adorable little "cupcake" on the top that we used as my son's smash cake. I couldn't have asked for more. I think there must be some type of standard Panaderia handbook because they all seem to have huge wooden cabinets. Of course, they are filled with baked goods which are of the typical not-so-sweet and too dry variety. Why must these items always be so dry? We got a bag full of stuff (see photo) for a little over $5. The price is definitely right at this Panaderia. The lady who was working there was quite busy on her phone and I think she was happy to see that we knew how these places worked. 1. Pick up the large metal tray and tongs. 2. Pick out your own items. 3. Bring them to her to ring up and throw in a bag (no boxes because that costs too much?). I'm not a fan of the dry baked goods, BUT it is a standard thing. I liked that there was plenty of parking on the street and that the hours are incredibly long. I'd recommend them to someone looking for a Panaderia as long as they know what they should expect as far as dry bakery items. Diamond Bakery... a diamond in the rough? :)
