Well was coming back from a fishing trip and passed by this place and the smell was amazing, so I stopped. The vibe I got was an old county store with good old folks. The place has a large bar with cut meats and cold slices. At the far end they have BBQ and other plates depending on the day. Any ways walked in people were nice, and informed us to order then pay. I ordered a two meat combo (ribs and brisket). The brisket was moist and soft. The pork ribs were delicious soft but lacked some seasoning. (My opinion some people may just like the smoked flavor). Still good CFS. Fresh meat, fried perfectly. The gravy was a bit thin and needed more seasoning, but the meat is so good, gravy really isn't needed. Get it in a cup on the side. It's small country butcher shop with limited parking space in a small town that stays packed with locals and people like me making the trip. There is a fresh meat counter, several frozen options and cooked food to go. There are also baked goods but not enough of an offering to be called a bakery in my opinion. So why do I go? They have house made sausages that are outstanding and a hit at my cookouts. This is really one of those small town stops that makes you glad you took the state roads from one destination to the other as opposed to sticking to the Interstates. A couple of friends "dragged" us here in lieu of our normal stop at Buc-ee's. While I was initially skeptical that it would be a worthy replacement, my misgivings were unwarranted. No, there wasn't a wide selection of beaver nuggets and fudge, but what they do carry is spectacular. High quality cuts of meat, smoked beef sticks and jerky, kolaches and pastries, and excellent barbecue sandwiches. We ended up grabbing some beef sticks, which were well smoked, seasoned, and tasted freshly made, and some barbecue sandwiches. We didn't tuck into the sandwiches for almost two hours due to the rest of the commute home and unpacking. Despite the fact that the sandwiches were down to room temperature, they were still some of the best brisket sandwiches we've ever had. My review from 6 years ago still stands up! At this point, people ask me to grab a container of their pasta salad or their seasonings for them when they know I'm passing through the area. My parents and grandparents are from East Bernard, so I literally grew up on Vincek's food, and this place never disappoints! If you're passing through the area, this is a must stop-you'll be happy you did! The fruit kolaches are first class (I've still never found any that compare other than Hruska's), so try to get there early before they sell out. If you go in the afternoon or evening, get their daily special and don't skip the pasta salad-it's addicting! read more

I grew up on their bbq. It has always been the best and totally awesome. I have friends that will drive over 75 miles to eat here. The service is alway first class and they have benches for you to sit down and eat and converse with people. On my way to San Marcos with a few friends and they declared this place was a keeper. I said...why not? Well inside is small and kinda disappointing when you are spoiled by places like Buccee's. However, they have an impressive array of meats to buy, which will make for great grilling events and barbecue. I was rather impressed by just how great it all looked. They had small little things to buy for snacks like jerky, cheese, sausages, crackers, which were okay. However, to me their best selling point is their barbecue meals and sweet bread. The sliced barbecue sandwich tasted amazing even after a long drive home. I was highly impressed. I think fresh must have been even better. I don't know how you can't like the food here. As far as the mood this place, it seems to be like this secret spot that only locals know. I did not see many people walking in as if though they were travelers, the way Buccee's clients walk around dazed. Got cabin fever so decided to make the drive out here to check out the kolaches and bbq. Vincek's isn't huge but is very clean and has a home-y feel. They do it all here- baked goods, processed meats, fresh meat, and bbq. We got a dozen fruit kolaches to go (arrived around 11a so there was only one tray left) and a 3 meat bbq plate ($14 and they pile it up high). Also picked up a chocolate cream cake and some sausage links. I thought everything was very reasonably priced. A local told us we wouldn't be disappointed by any of the meats/specials and he was right! Vincek's has amazing bbq. I personally am not a fan of super peppery crusted bbq and I like that there's not a ton of rub on their meat. The brisket was pretty lean and the sausage was ah-mazing (they make in house). The pork ribs were fantastic. Potato salad- yes!! So good. Coleslaw? Even better. The kolaches were slightly bready for me but the fillings are clearly all made in house. My 400th review must be a five-star review. This one is easy. I was originally turned on to Vincek's Smokehouse by a friend because he has his deer processed with them. I'll admit that since I live 70 miles away, it seems to be the primary reason I come here too. However, it is more than a deer processing place. It's a great place to get kolaches, BBQ, or visit a meat market/butcher shop. Meat Market It is an old-fashioned meat market with various beef/pork/boudin products behind a glass case that are for sale by the pound. They offer a wide variety of products. Today I purchased stuffed pork chops to cook on my Big Green Egg (see my bio). They also had seasoned fajitas in an assorted amount of weights. I purchased 3 pounds of beef fajitas to cook for dinner tonight on my Big Green Egg. Kolache If you have never had a kolache (pronounced kuh-lah-chee), they are a Czech sweet doughy bun that is filled with fruit or jam. However, you can also find them filled with cream cheese, sausage (sorta like pigs-in-a-blanket), egg, bacon or any of the above combination. Preferences with kolaches vary widely but these are some of my favorites. I manage to get some every time we drive by here. BBQ You can get baked potatoes stuffed with bbq brisket, chicken, and sausage. You can get brisket sandwiches. It is slow-smoked to perfection and is really tender. For a quick bite, this is one of my favorite BBQ sandwiches in the entire area. Every time I have ordered it, it has been very tender and packed with flavor. As easy recommendation. Deer Processing The have a wide variety of deer processing available. I really like there summer sausage. I usually order the jalapeño and cheese summer sausage. As most deer hunters know, you end up liking certain processing for certain things. For example, I prefer summer sausage from here but I like my Italian sausage from somewhere else. Deer hunters can be very picky about their deer processing. I have never had any deer processed from here that I did not like. They do have a walk-in cooler that is available for game drop-off 24 hours a day. Just fill out a tag with your name and number and they will call you when they come in and see what you want to order. You don't need to leave your cooler behind as they will have everything wrapped and in box(es) when you come back to pick up your meat. Bottom Line: A wide variety of meat products and kolaches. Good bbq and great deer processing. What more could a guy ask for in one location? read more

What do you expect from a place like this, No finer food, great employees this is some of the best food i have had in a long time, even got some to take home, its a long way from Pearland but it is worth it, if you happen to be headed south on Hwy 59 headed get off the Hungerford exit an take Hwy 60 to East Bernard just a short hop or you might come in on Alt Hwy 90 out of Richmond & Rosenberg but either way it is well worth the trip and. Traveling through Texas, visiting some friends in East Bernard, I asked them where I could get some great TX BBQ, they said "Vinceks". Being from Idaho, I'll admit, we don't have anything close to legitimate BBQ, but I was treated to a sliced brisket plate with coleslaw and potato salad. What a treat, the brisket was kissed with some and seasoned perfectly. The sauce was sweet with a hint of heat. Both sides were rock solid and complemented the meals perfectly. It's small town life BBQ. As in the big city cutting through small towns, I like to stop and check out the local life. You get envious with everyone knowing each other and great BBQ for a small price compared to popular boutique joints which charge what they want. The local pecan smoked meats where tasty and let the meat talk for themselves. I had the brisket, sausage, and pork ribs. The sides are true country with no gluten free, and vegetarian free. Beans have meat, and a great smoke and garlic taste. When you are cutting through or in the area it's a must try to eat as the locals do and grab a touch of a kind and friendly hospitality. 3/9/13 - 11:38am - Loaded up the family and headed to East Bernard, Tx to visit a two time Texas Monthly top fifty for 2003 & 2008. An excellent Texas Barbecue excursion. I scored Vincek's a 82 out of 100. This is Regional Texas Barbecue. Smoke: Pecan. Smokers hidden from view inside metal buildings in the back. Saw couple of smoke stacks one exhaust vent. Blue smoke was coming out of exhaust vent. Stack of wood was small but may not have been all of it. There are real pits but maybe a rotisserie also. Brisket: Good. 1/4in smoke ring, nice black bark. Tested and ate tough of tender. There was a great salty rub spice and full smoke flavor. Brisket is worth the drive. Flavor was so intense. No sauce needed. Ribs: Fair. Wow! what a disappointment. They were tough of tender with slight tearing and stiff. Flavor was just natural pork. Not a lot of smoke. Brisket had more seasoning than ribs. Who woulda thunk it? Use the sauce. Sausage: Good. It was your average Czech sausage. Fresh, course ground pork with mild traditional spice and little after taste. Little grease. Use the sauce. Sauce: Excellent! Best surprise of all. This sauce scored very high. A tomato, molasses, vinegar thick and little sweet with lemon flavors. This stuff could make shoe leather taste great. The place is a bakery too, so I dipped the home made bread in this sauce. Heaven! Heaven! PS: I can understand why Texas Monthly has listed Vinceks two times. This is a little Texas treasure. Decor and service are not part of my score but I when you come across a place like this it must be part of the review. Vincek's is also a local butcher and bakery. We picked up a couple of NY strips, some jerky and a slim jim. That makes this place unique. It is also a local bakery with wonderful looking pecan pies, cookies and of course Kolaches. The place was packed for Saturday and everyone inside knew each other and greeted each other. It was like going to a small town church. If you are looking for day trip excursion, I would highly recommend Vinceks. read more

Vincek's Smokehouse is about halfway between Austin and Houston, so it is a great place for lunch, if you don't mind bypassing the traffic on IH10. The barbecue is delicious, the folks are friendly and It won't cost you anymore to eat here than one of the restaurants in Columbus. Vincek's has a very unassuming storefront and it is easy to miss the first time you visit. However it is clearly patronized by the locals which creates a very congenial atmosphere inside. Doesn't need sauce, but their sauce is pretty good if you get it. This is so much more than a BBQ joint, it has a full meat market inside, and they do deer processing.
