Today was muggy, but thankfully Junk King handled the heavy lifting for my house "stuff". After living here since 2007, and having personally dealt with my parents' estates, I'm committed to downsizing now. My kids won't inherit a house full of 'stuff.' We used Junk King to clear out my aunt's assisted living apartment in Chanhassen. It was easy to schedule an appointment for the following Saturday, and the crew called us about 20 minutes before their arrival. We had everything lined up to be taken out of her apartment to the loading dock and into their truck. They took a bedframe, box spring, foam mattress, wheelchair, walker, tall boy dresser, electric cables and cords, and a recliner. They gave us an estimate which was a bit higher than the first estimate because we had to pays recycling fee for the box spring. Great crew to work with. It was worth paying for the half truck space because we didn't have to find places that would accept donations and then physically deliver these items to those charities. So this is a bait and switch operation. You call the number and get a call center rep who gives you a quote over the phone. Next, the crew shows up and then gives you a different price. In my case, it was literally double. So there you are having to make a decision right in the moment when you need them to haul your junk away. Don't use these clowns. The two crew guys that showed up were perfectly professional and polite. Took the stuff for what the quote was for after the rolling of the eyes and a "oh, this happens all the time" song and dance. Just had Ed and his crew remove a massive freezer from my basement. Three men. Three hours. One Sawsall. It cost me 300.00, but it was worth it. There was no way I was going to get it out by myself so I'm glad I found them. They said they had never seen a freezer like this. They really worked hard to remove it. It's really easy to hire this company, and I found the process from start to finish exceeded my expectations. This company is locally owned, and is a franchise, so you get the best of both worlds. You can keep it "local", while enjoying the support of a large company. They have an online scheduling system that gives you a small discount for scheduling through the browser. There is also a handy chat session that can be started if you have any questions. I had a question about the cost compared to the size of my garage, and they gave a very accurate estimate with no secrecy or wild guestimate. One of the nice things offered is a free estimate on-site. There is no obligation to use them, even when they drive to your place. If it is too expensive for you, you can tell them no. I scheduled my service for a Saturday morning at 9-11am. I was called by the crew about 20 minutes prior to arrival at 9:10. They showed up looking happy and motivated. The lead of the crew looked at my pile of junk, and and estimated it would take 3/4 of a truck, and gave me a quote that matched what I was told in the chat. It was a flat quote, so I could count on it. As soon as I had agreed, the crew backed in the truck and went right to work. I was impressed at the postive attitude and great teamwork that was on display. They grabbed every piece of junk from that garage, no matter if it was covered in dust, or whatever else had gotten on it in the time it was in there. Each member took a position on the line and made it happen quick and efficiently. I asked what they do with the junk, and they explained it is sorted and either donated, or recycled at the incinerator and turned into energy. I can support that. Not so good, in fact terrible. I called ahead to have a treadmill removed from our basement. On the phone we were told $99.00 Today they showed up and said $179.00. I wasn't happy about the price hike and asked why they wouldn't honor the quote and was told "I ain't taking that out for $99.00." I wasn't happy about that but agreed to 179.00. Well, the guys couldn't figure out how to get it up from the basement. I asked them to leave. Junk King provided good service and I would use them again. The on line estimator tool is very helpful and helped me to organize exactly what I wanted removed. I received a follow-up call after submitting an on line scheduling request. I pulled all of the items for disposal from storage so that the crew could work as easily and efficiently as possible. As expected the crew called prior to arrival, reviewed the items for removal and gave an estimate. One thing that was unexpected was an extra $25 charge for removal of a 20" television. This extra charge was not listed on the website, so to avoid wasting your time I recommend that you confirm charges for removal of appliances and electronics prior to Junk King's visit. The crew did a good job and quickly removed all of the items. They were polite and professional. Junk King does a good job at requesting feedback (online survey). I shared feedback about the extra charge for removal of the television and was delighted to receive a call from the owner who resolved the issue immediately. This exceeded my expectations! Junk King wants others to promote their business and this act alone is the reason why I would use Junk King again. Felt a bit of a shakedown. Never received a return email with quote or confirmation. 30 min prior to my requested time frame I received a call from Dave who was confirming they were on their way! Wow, Dave , how do you know where I live since I have not heard from your company since I sent a booking inquiry 3 days ago? That's ok , but how much to pick up my chair and love seat? Oh, $150 ! Sorry to expensive. But I get $30 off that but still charge tax! Still too steep , I can pack that up in a rental truck for $19.95. Was hoping to pay under $100 but will check with The owner. No call back , so I called after 45 minutes, I call back Dave. Sorry, your email had 2 .com's after so we were confused and could not confirm a price prior to arrival. But you had my phone number?
