It was critical to find a kennel that was a good fit for him. We had been using another boarding facility for the past ten years and had been pretty happy with them for most of that time. Due to a detour, I happened to drive by FurrWoods and saw their sign. So, we scheduled a time to take a tour. Oscar was reactive to the owner and staff and was barking and lunging at them. They knew exactly how to greet him and put him at ease. Within minutes, he was comfortable and leaning in for ear scratches. We took Oscar out to the play yards and put him in one by himself. He immediately went to the fence and happily greeted the other pups in the adjacent yard. The play yards here are repurposed astroturf from a football field, and the surface is immaculate. The previous boarding facility has gravel yards and our previous dog would sometimes eat rocks there or be dirty from digging. There are 3 or 4 different yards so they can group dogs by size or demeanor or age to ensure everyone has a positive playtime. The kennels are also very clean! There are only 28 kennels so it is much more peaceful than at a larger facility. They provide trampoline beds and even have slow feeders if you need them, which Oscar does. They have an online reservation system which helps me keep track of my bookings. You can also sign your dog up for an activity such as individual fetch time or a walk in the woods. We have boarded Oscar at FurrWoods several times over the past few months - sometimes just overnight and for as long as two weeks. He LOVES it there!! When we arrive, he pulls me to the door and wants to go straight out to play! This speaks volumes, as Oscar normally has separation anxiety!! When I pick him up, he is clean, happy, and exhausted. She then went over all the paper work. The care she took to make sure skitz was comfortable was above any other kennel I have used. Will high recommend using cat nap inn Just pick Skitz up. Biggest regret is Yelp only goes to five. 10/5 easily. Amazing the difference in his demeanor over other kennels. Skitz is a 20+ lb cat with no love for anyone or change. He hates brushing. He hates being handled by strangers and sometimes long time household guest. Colleen simple opened his personal area and he jumped down and allowed her to brush him. I was floored. Most of the time I takes years for him to warm up people living in the home. Colleen then went over the types of brushes he responds to the best/ ones not so much. For his stay I got the bird feeder, extra salmon/shrimp treats x3 times a week, as well as the heated bed as Skitz is 10+. Colleen then went over what he liked and didn't like. She said she gave him his extra treats and for some reason he didn't seem to want the salmon or shrimp so she only charged me for x2 as he didn't seem to like it (odd for most cats not Skitz). She said he loved the feeder. Basically cat nap inn is expensive. But, if you love your cat it's beyond worth it. Just on Skitz reaction Colleen went above just basic board/feed/ turn over next person. She went out of her way to see what Skitz needed out of his stay. She didn't just say everything went well and charge me for 10 treats he didn't even want. Would highly recommended cat nap inn.

That said, our experience was deeply concerning. Our dog has since been diagnosed with bilateral hip dysplasia and elbow issues, which has been heartbreaking to navigate. I am not saying that is puget sounds direct reflection but it means something .. When we arrived at the home, we were invited inside, but the conditions were extremely dirty. The dog was not present when we arrived, and we waited approximately 40 minutes for the owner's daughter to bring him. He was handed to us and carried rather than allowed to walk. Once we left and placed him on the ground, it was clear he struggled significantly--at four months old, it appeared as though he had little to no experience walking. His hindquarters were completely shaved while the rest of his body was not, which raised immediate concern. It appeared he may have been sitting in his own waste and not regularly cleaned. He was also dyed yellow; our veterinarian later informed us that Lime Sulfur Dip is commonly used to treat conditions such as ringworm. His ears were blackened from what appeared to be long-term lack of cleaning. During the long drive home, we had to roll the windows down in the middle of winter due to the strong odor. The medical records we were provided were handwritten on paper and barely legible, with vaccinations written in by hand and explained as being difficult to read because the "ink was out." While the owner was kind, she appeared to have significant mobility challenges and was unable to walk down the stairs, which raised concerns about her ability to safely and adequately manage multiple dogs. I regret not writing this review sooner, but I felt it was important to share our experience. I truly hope that other dogs were not treated similarly and that they are all healthy and well cared for.
