All this place carries are bands - Doobie Brothers, The Eagles, Allman Brothers... You name a 70s rock band they've got it. Oh wait, I mean they carry wedding bands. (Psst! That's not really all they carry - only about 1/2 their cases are dedicated to bands.) The brother sister team here are really nice. The sister suggested I get a custom designed band to fit my unusually shaped engagement ring, and gave me the best price on it for the day. (Another jeweler ended up matching it and I went with him, but most places in the Jewelry Mart said they'd make a custom band for $300-$500 above Just Band's price). Unfortunately, although they carried a lot of wedding bands for guys they just didn't have a great selection that appealed to the boyfriend, and all he's looking for is something simple. I went to the Gift Center with my fiance recently to find my engagement ring. After a few hours, the ring settings all started looking the same and most of the sales associates didn't engage us further than "let me know if you see anything you want to try on", until we were greeted by Ashley of Just Diamonds. She was very professional and knowledgeable, actually listened to what I wanted and was able to pick out a few pieces that fit my preferences. I went to Just Bands to get an engagement ring for my fiancee and had a wonderful experience. What really sets Just Bands apart from the other jewelers I met is the customer service and pricing. I worked with Ashley throughout the process and she was patient, creative, and, most importantly, honest. I wanted a custom ring that incorporated design elements from rings I'd seen online and Ashley did a great job of doing just that. I really appreciated how she gave me suggestions and, at one point, she even emailed me a sketch of something she thought would make the ring look better! After sketching the ring on paper and drawing it out on the computer, she had her team quickly make a wax mold that helped me see what the ring would really look like. When I wanted to make changes to the mold, she was took everything in stride! Prior to making the setting she asked me a lot of detailed questions about things that I hadn't even considered and walked me through the pros/cons of making the ring a certain way. Once we finished this step, it was about 2 weeks until I got the ring, completely finished, in my hands. I think it would have been even faster, but I asked for a last minute change after the ring had been made (but prior to setting the stone). For all of the hard work and effort Ashley put in, I would have expected to pay a lot more than I did. Just Bands' quote for the ring, minus the stone, was at least 25% less that what others had quoted. My fiancee loved the ring and I recently went back to Just Bands to get an appraisal for insurance purposes. I'd like to lobby Yelp to add a sixth star, specifically for this review... My fiancee didn't want one of those super-sparkly horrible diamond-studded bands that seem to be all the rage these days, and instead found a beautiful carved ring on eBay. Sadly she didn't win the auction, so plan B was to look around the Jewelery Mart. Store after store didn't have what we wanted until we got to Just Bands. These guys said they could make it and the price they quoted was very reasonable. The wax mold looked amazing (ended up being hand-carved because it was too complex for the computer to do) and the finished product was just as great... except too big. Once again John and Andre stepped up to the plate, and agreed to have it re-done. The result is absolutely perfect. All in all Just Bands have proved to be a standout business to work with. The jewelry business can be a tough one to deal with, filled with sharks and shysters. Honestly, do yourself a favor, skip the agony of shopping around and go straight to these guys. read more

I love Andre and John. My hubby and I originally came to Just for Bands based on the incredible Yelp reviews to find a good wedding band for hubby before our wedding. Andre and John went above and beyond for us. They made hubby's ring. When we came in, it didn't look exactly like we wanted (hubby is very picky). So, they changed the buffed look to a polished one. Hubby went in again and then said the ring wasn't domed enough. They changed it AGAIN. Then, we took the ring home and it was a little too loose on hubby. So, he went back. In fact, John and Andre kept the business open TWO HOURS beyond closing time to accommodate hubby's work schedule and fix the ring right then onsite. They are amazing. The guys at Just Bands made us feel very comfortable and showed us a large variety of styles. Then they were able to make just what we wanted in their own shop for a fraction of a designer price. The rings were made right on time and were beautiful. However, they messed up on the engraving and put the quotes on the wrong rings. They were upset that they had screwed up, and went out of their way to fix them. They removed the wrong engraving and did it correctly in a weeks time. My then-fiance/now-husband and I came here for our wedding bands. We actually had no idea what we wanted. He wanted something simple, and I just wanted to get a ring on him. They had a pretty big selection of rings but weren't much help in choosing one. Then again, it was kind of our decision, so I'm sure they were just staying out of it. One thing that they did help with is the sizing. They told us to remember that fingers swell with heat and shrink with the cold and so to be mindful of that. It happened to be a really hot day (by SF standards) so it was a good thing to keep in mind. In the end, our rings fit really well. Something that I really wish they did better was communication. They, no doubt, make good rings. But communication isn't their forte. When we talked about the engravings, we told them A if there is enough space, B if there isn't. They actually never told us what they ended up going with. We just found out when the rings were done. On another occasion, I sat around for about 1 1/2 hours, waiting for them to resize my ring. They had told me it would take 30min. Then, when it was finally done, they told me I would get a discount if I brought cash. Great. You could have told me that 1 1/2 hours ago. So then I had to leave, find an ATM and come back. Granted, neither of these are deal breakers. But it's little things like this that made the experience less great. The price was great. We paid about $1000 for both our rings. Keep in mind they are very simple platinum bands. One odd thing is that the building is secure. Like you have to check in and everything, which means you need an appointment. I'm actually not really sure why, but just fyi. All in all, we are happy with our rings, and I would suggest that anyone looking for rings at least gives these guys a look. read more

I found out today that we were one of this place's first 100 customers and even now that their customer count is in the thousands, this place hasn't changed one bit. Wifey came in and got both our weddings bands cleaned and brushed up and even though she wasn't buying, they still treated her like royalty. I don't know how much storage space Yelp has, but I could seriously go on for hours about how great these guys are. Wow! Knocked my socks off. I stopped by here on a Friday at 11:30am without an appointment to see about getting my engagement ring re-sized. I thought I'd have to hand over the ring for several days -- maybe even a week -- but Andre insisted that they could do it much more quickly, usually in a day or two. Great! So Andre properly sized my ring finger, took possession of the ring, and said he'd call on Monday when it was done -- after apologizing that it wouldn't be done sooner since they don't process rings over the weekend. We liked his approach in general -- he gave us information about the process of making rings without pushing anything on us, and we felt that, unlike some of the other people we chatted with in other showrooms, he was the most personable, and friendly but upfront. I had been searching for a Old Mine Cut diamond for a few months for my now fiancé's engagement ring. Because they're vintage, they're rare. After 10+ visits to different stores I stumbled into Just Diamonds and met Andre. I asked if he had any, and before he could get his answer out, John, his cousin popped out from the back with one in hand, "we only have one." And of course, it was "the one." After a solid half hour chat about life, family, traveling and the history of the business, I bought it, even though I knew I was going to buy it before the small talk. They're friendly, not pushy whatsoever, and really want you to have the best experience, rather than make a quick buck. The diamond was the easy part, as I had been developing the intricate design of the ring for a while. After a very very fair quote, I decided to go with them for the ring. Andre was patient with me, dropping some serious diamond and jewelry knowledge on me as I futilely argued points on diamonds, jewelry and ring sizes that proved to be incorrect - think I'll stick to my day job. I brought in numerous pictures of various "design cues" from my travels, a palm tree, the Eiffel Tower, a bridge in London, etc that I wanted to be incorporated into tiny parts of the ring. He listened, took notes, we tweaked a few parts based on his suggestion, and then he said it'd be ready in two weeks. I came back on the scheduled date, nervous there would need to be adjustments. THEY. NAILED. IT. It was perfect, and after proposing the very next day, my fiancé is enamored with it. I had insanely lofty expectations, very specific demands about the intricate details on the vintage-esque ring, and they far exceeded expectations, met all demands, and blew me away with the details I scrutinized over. It was perfect. And the fact that they did it all while making me feel confident and comfortable just adds to the experience. I don't know how to stress this further, it was perfect. Everything about it was perfect, and all credit goes to Just Diamonds. My husband and I were a little late in getting our wedding bands. Okay, we were a lot late. We didn't start shopping until less than two weeks before the big day. The other problem: we wanted rings that complimented one another, but he wanted a big, white gold brushed band, and I wanted a small, polished rose gold band. John greeted us and that's how our relationship started. =) Let me tell you, I am a very very picky customer when it comes to my diamonds and jewelry. John is not just some salesperson. This guy knows his stuff when it comes to diamonds and the such. Most people get sick of me asking for crown and pavilion angles to the diamonds, but not John. He was ready to give me all the info I needed. I have had wonderful conversations with him about the baubles. I ended up having him make me a custom 3 stone halo diamond ring set in platinum. They made a wax for the ring first and once I approved the wax, they proceeded to cast the ring. The end result is AMAZING! I receive endless compliments to my new piece. The wifey and I bought our wedding bands at Just Bands back in June. We had done a reasonable amount of shopping around at that point, online and in stores, and knew almost immediately after going to the store that we wanted to get our bands through Just Bands. We worked with Andre, who was both knowledgeable and easy going. I had initially planned on getting a palladium or tungsten ring for myself, but Andre made a good argument for white gold. I ended up going with his recommendation, and am glad that I did. They worked with us to put together rings exactly like we wanted and they were made very swiftly. One mildly negative thing (although not really): I had asked for the brush pattern on my ring to go horizontally, although Andre had told me that vertical is more typical for the ring that I chose. They ended up doing the pattern vertically, and to be honest Andre was right--I do like it better this way so we didn't have them change it. We tried to get the rings cleaned before the wedding but the store was closed for the week (it was over the July 4th weekend). After they got back, we received a voicemail from them apologizing for being closed and making sure that we got everything taken care of. I thought that that was quite nice and good customer service. Also I wanted to note that the ring prices we were given in the store were quite a bit lower than the prices we saw on their website. We were very happy with their prices in general. I never thought my first yelp review would be on a business that sold me an engagement ring. Actually, Just Diamonds didn't just "sell" me a ring, they straight up crafted one for me. John and his family (brother Rafi and cousin Andre) are three of the most down to earth people to deal with. I was referred to them by my cousins and since I had already seen the quality of their wives' diamond rings, I knew I wouldn't be disappointed making a purchase from them. I first e-mailed John telling him what I was looking for and he promptly replied back with his phone number. After we exchanged numbers, he called me back the same day and we had a nice discussion to help him understand what I wanted. I was looking for a certain style on a three stone setting with a micro-pave' band that I saw on the James Allen website. I forwarded John a picture of the ring and he told me he could do the exact same band by using a 3D wax mold. Believe me, if you find something that you like anywhere else, go to John first. He can do it for you and save you tons of money. It took about a week for John to find the center diamond and when he did, it was beautiful (can dudes say that about diamonds?). He really did a great job finding not only a physically nice-looking rock, but also a quality one on paper (GIA certified specs). I did some research online to do a little cost comparison and the price John quoted me blew away the competition (namely Blue Nile). After we found the center stone, the only thing left was for him to craft the ring. I wanted to propose to my girlfriend in mid May and we had just finalized the diamond hunt at the end of April. This left a little under two weeks for John to get it done. He rush ordered the ring at no additional cost and two weeks later, he had it ready. When I went to go pick it up, damn... I don't fancy wedding rings nor diamonds but when I saw John's final work, I couldn't be more pleased. It looked exactly like the James Allen picture I had forwarded him and was nothing short of perfect. Sparing you the details of the proposal, my girlfriend, now fiance', loved the ring. We were up in Yosemite at the time and I would occasionally find herself lost in it, straight up Gollum-like. It was scary at first, but later flattering because I knew she was really, really happy. During the trip home, she would play around with it, shining it like a disco-ball in the sun. That thing sure does sparkle and I only have John's diamond expertise to thank for that. Do yourself a favor and see John and his family if you want top notch service and superior quality in your bling. But you don't have to take my word for it (insert Reading Rainbow jingle here). Outstanding service from really great people. Ashley was just terrific to work with. My now wife and I made this our first stop in shopping for a wedding band, expecting to go to other shops as well. However, Ashley showed us the perfect ring and helped with great advice, plus gave us a great price. So, we never had to go anywhere else. As someone currently in the "about to get married" demographic, one tires of seeing dollar signs in the eyes of every person involved in the process - from the caterer ($3 dollars per SLICE OF CAKE?) to the veil maker ($500 for A LACE VEIL I will only wear for 3 hours of my [please God] long lived life??). It is therefore with great relief and happiness that I recommend the fine gentlemen at Just Bands. John not only gave us a great price for our bands (for both of us, about $100 less than I would have paid for JUST my husband's wedding band at Tiffany's), but he also suggested some great design accents, truly making my husband's band one of a kind. He seems genuinely stoked about what he does for a living - the kind of guy that doesn't really care if you don't buy the maximum amount of stuff from him; just that you are happy with what you've asked for. I imagined that someone who deals in rare gems would try to up-sell, and was completely disappointed. Some ladies (and gentlemen?) want their ring-buying process to be paved with champagne and caviar - and if you are that person, this review is not for you. If, however, you want a sensible price and some great design advice from someone who actually likes giving it - then come here, and ask for John. John made shopping for an engagement ring an easy and pleasant experience. He never pushed me in a direction or was in sell mode, just gave honest opinions and provided insight on selecting a diamond, especially what features to focus on (i.e., where to spend $) and where it was ok to go for just enough. And when it came to pricing, they were definitely on the low end of the range. John was very personable and accommodating when I had more than my fair share of questions. Best thing was getting the diamond and then John allowing me to upgrade the band after proposing (initially got solitaire setting then after proposing switched to channel since that's what my fiance preferred). We were referred to Just Bands by my fiance's band mate. I wish there were more stars to give these guys. My fiance wanted the curve of my wedding band indented into his wedding band that Andre was going to make for him. Andre made the wax mold and it looked perfect. Just the other day we got to see the actual ring and it matched the curve of my ring perfectly. No one else will ever have a wedding band like it. My rings were made in Montana but in the picture it looks like all three rings were made in the same place! It's amazing. I almost cried when we saw his ring for the first time. EEEEEEEEEEE!! My fiancé just picked up my engagement ring from Just Bands and the finished product is just like our experience there: beautiful! When he proposed, he said he didn't pick a particular band because he wanted me to pick one out. I thought the solitaire diamond was beautiful enough, but who am I to argue, amirite? We Yelped jewelers in SF and Just Bands was rightly the top hit. Our appointment was with Ashley (Asleh...sp?) and she was a delight. We left kinda wanting to be friends with her. My fiancé researched diamonds exhaustively before proposing, but we were both clueless about bands. All I knew was that I wanted rose gold, which she was very excited about as I guess it's less common for people to choose rose gold. She walked us through every detail in choosing a band and setting, of which there are many. The kind of prong, band thickness, setting height and type, etc. we felt thoroughly confident in our choice once we left. They even melted down the original band into the finished product and deducted it from the price. It was a great solution to the question of what to do with the presentation setting. The one thing to know if you are in the market for rose gold is that the setting for the solitaire will be in white gold. This is to preserve the brilliance of the diamond. They said if it's in rose gold it would result in a discolored diamond. I went with their expert opinion on that one. Ashley, Brian and everyone at Just Bands (it is a family run store) are wonderful. The price was even less than my fiancé was thinking it would be and the quality took my breath away.
