Had a great experience here getting my ring reshaped! Great service and was done super quickly.

Let me start by saying that Edwin was kind enough to take us on as a client when we came to him with a low-value project. That being said, we had a stressful experience and will not be going back. On top of the negative experience we had, we recently came to find out that the stones he placed, which he said were diamonds, are actually cubic zirconia. This was very upsetting to learn as we were quoted and charged for diamonds. Below is our full account of what happened. We found Shine Little Diamond on Yelp, and, from all the positive reviews, we thought it would be the perfect place to do a custom ring. At the time, we had a fashion jewelry ring that we wanted to replace the center stone with a sentimental pebble and the side stones with diamonds, with the goal to cast the ring in gold in the future. We were in a time crunch and Edwin told us it would be done before our deadline and then neglected to communicate with us when the timeline changed. In short: if you need to speak with him, make sure you contact him via appointment through his website. He was an unreliable communicator over the phone. Timeline: November 7, 2025: We set an appointment to meet with Edwin the next day to review our custom ring request. November 8, 2025: We met with Edwin and he told us the job might be challenging as the ring was not gold and a prong was already damaged, he quoted us $155 to complete the work, and estimated that it would be completed on November 15, 2025. We told him that we needed the ring by November 20, 2025 so the 15th would work. We agreed and handed him the ring. November 14, 2025: I call Edwin twice with no answer, I leave him a voicemail inquiring if the ring is still expected to be completed November 15, 2025. November 15, 2025: 12:36pm Edwin returns my call and says that the ring should be ready by 3pm, we say great we will come meet you at that time. 2:27pm I call to check in, and he says the previously damaged prong on the ring broke off (which to be clear was not Edwin's fault, it was in bad shape when we gave it to him) and he was going to need more time to repair it. I said okay, we will need the ring ASAP. He said it should be ready by November 17, 2025. This was the last time he answered any of my calls. November 17, 2025: I call Edwin with no answer, I leave him a voicemail inquiring if the ring is still expected to be completed today. No response. November 19, 2025: I call Edwin with no answer, I leave him a lengthy voicemail about how we urgently need the ring back and if he could please return our call with an estimated completion time. No response. November 21, 2025: I call Edwin with no answer, I again leave him a voicemail about how we urgently need the ring back and if he could please return our call with an estimated completion time. No response. November 22, 2025: I call Edwin twice with no answer, I leave urgent voicemails both times. No response. I finally realize that his phone is not the way to get a hold of him, and schedule the next available appointment on his website for November 24, 2025 (4 days after our deadline, 7 days after our last promise date, 9 days after our original estimated date) November 24, 2025: We meet with Edwin and he explains to us that we should have contacted him via website appointment and his phone is not a good way to get a hold of him, to which I said we had agreed on previous completion dates that you did not stick to. Is it not your job to update us with a new completion date after missing two? He explained that he was busy with higher value clients, and he took a chance on us given that our ring was damaged and not made of gold. This I cannot fault him for, and I appreciate that he did the work even though it was lower value work for him. We examined the ring, and the center stone and broken prong were set with epoxy, which was not ideal but I guess he was running out of options, so again I did not fault him for it. He charged us $150 ($5 off for our inconvenience) and we went our separate ways. March 3, 2026: The reason I am writing this review today is because we finally had the opportunity to take the ring to a different jeweler to get it recast in gold, and we found out that the stones on the side were not replaced as diamonds like we had agreed but were cubic zirconia. Shine little cubic zirconia shine. I'm not sure if those were the originals and Edwin didn't get the chance to ever replace them in his haste to meet our appointment (this is what I hope happened) or if he did replace them but used cubic zirconia instead of diamonds. I had be engagement ring resized from 6.5 to size 9 by another jeweler, but the ring was still the wrong size and they left multiple pits and imperfections. Took them over a month to resize and get the ring back to me. And they were very expensive. I took it to Shine Little Dimond where they measured me and found my perfect fit. He noticed the imperfections without me even mentioning them. He said he could easily resize it and completely replace the previous added white gold. I dropped it off at 4pm on Monday and just picked it up at 4pm Tuesday. And all for half the price of the last resizing. They are located in the mission but there is plenty of parking and I could not be happier with my ring. I will 100% be back and can't recommend them enough. After seeing their positive yelp reviews, I booked an appointment with Shine Little Diamond to resize my wedding band and engagement ring (18k white gold, under 1.5mm wide, no detailing/tooling, going up 1.75 sizes). After my experience with them, I do not understand how they have 5 stars, and regret choosing them. When dropping off my rings, I asked for a quote, and the gentleman who took them in said he couldn't give me one and that his boss would have to get back to me. A day and half later I got a text that I could pick them up the next day and that it would be $350 per ring, $760 total. I looked around online and was advised that this was quite high, and asked them if the work had already been done as it seemed higher than I was seeing elsewhere. They did not respond to me until 11:15 pm, with a photo of the rings already cut open, saying they had to add material (yes, that's how you make a ring bigger) and that if they weren't already finished, he could ask the jeweler to put them back how they were. At that point I felt I didn't really have an option other than to go through with the job, as with my rings held hostage, they were free to do a subpar job putting them back how they were, since they knew they wouldn't be getting any money from me. I told them do go ahead and complete the work. Upon picking them up the next day, the quality of the job was not great. There was a visible pit on one of them that I could catch my fingernail in, and both repairs were plainly visible. The added in portions were not the same height as the original band, and the inner diameters were not smooth circles; they had angled off dips where too much material had been ground away from the edges of the added in section (so not something that would have already happened from normal wear and tear before I dropped them off). I messaged them about these errors and asked them to correct them as part of the price I had already paid, to which they agreed. When I picked them up a second time, I saw that they while they fixed the pit and smoothed out some of the height difference, the problems with the inner diameter my wedding band are still there, and my engagement band is wider than it is tall. He offered to undo all the work and put them back as they originally were, which I refused, as I do not trust them for a moment to not make them worse. The whole situation has been extremely stressful, and now I have a constant reminder of it on my hand for the rest of my life. I just wish I had gone somewhere else. read more

I had a couple chains that had broken clasps and a bracelet given to me by my grandmother that I needed repaired. It was all done quickly and thoroughly. He was even kind enough to put in a gemstone in my granny's bracelet for me with no additional charge. Overall great service. Great service and quick! I came here to get my engagement ring resized. I have an atypical engagement ring with an east west facing Marquee and I took it to various jewelry shops. This is the only one that felt confident in being able to resize my ring. The cost was a little above my price range around 200, but felt it was worth it since they were the only shop that could handle my unique ring. I also brought in a nose ring that was missing a diamond and they were able to add in a new diamond. Seriously looks brand new. Total cost was 150 for the nose ring. Both items took 2 full business days and After picking up my ring, I took it to a a reputable jewelry store to make sure that everything looked good and they were able to verify that the job was done nicely and nothing was mishandled. Edwin is the best jeweler I have ever dealt with. He is also one of the few people in the area that can actually work with platinum. I had him size up my wife's engagement ring and he also tightened down all the stones as it is a handmade ring and the original maker did not do the prongs correctly. He only used platinum to repair it (some jewelers use gold to repair platinum but that's not what they are supposed to do). He was very straight forward with what needed to be done and how much it would cost (very reasonable pricing). He was able to do all of this and polish the ring within the same day which is a crazy fast turn-around time. He is a master of his craft and totally made the ring better than the original craftsmen. I messaged Edwin on yelp the night before and he quickly let me know that he could do a same day repair for reattaching the clasp to the chain by soldering on a ring between them. An older gentleman unlocked the door and a younger fellow was at the counter (assuming he's Edwin), he seemed to be the only one handling the jewelry. I recently brought in an antique cigar band with a pattern all the way around the band-- Edwin resized the ring for me twice (once to make it bigger, once more to bring it down a little bit bc it was too big) and I can't tell where he cut the band at all. Depending on the job, he can do your sizing/repair while you wait, which is amazing and not that common in the jewelry business.
