As a regular customer I also stop by for a coffee or tea whenever I visit Cobourg; however today I was very disappointed by the unfriendly customer service. Today I was downtown shopping in -20C weather and left my cellphone at home by accident, I did not take my vehicle and really needed to make an immediate phone call. I asked the barista to use the phone and she stated that the shop did not have a phone. I then ordered a latte and politely asked how the coffee shop receives phone calls from customers. She stated that the phone belonged to the owner. I then asked her to ask him to borrow his phone. I heard him say a flat out no (she returned with the excuse that he did not have his phone)- not only was this a blatant lie but was a great inconvenience to me. ...great way to help customers in freezing weather.

To make matters worse, I had to ask twice just to get my coffee refilled. What was most disappointing was the lack of customer service. When we informed the staff that we were leaving because we had been waiting so long, there was no apology, no acknowledgment of the inconvenience, and no attempt to make the situation right. This is the first time in my life I have ever left a restaurant. Long waits can happen, especially on busy weekends, but poor communication and a complete lack of concern for customers are much harder to overlook. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we won't be returning. If I could leave zero stars I would.
