Nice store but the sale guy is judgmental and mean. He should not be in a customer facing industry.

Scrap is exactly what you think it is - odds and ends of art supplies (some new, mostly used or…read moreopen) for the crafty. There is also some original art for sale. Something for everyone to scratch that creative itch. There's a lot going on here but it's organized by category which is helpful. Also, there's an option to donate here which is always great! Agree with other reviewers that the area doesn't feel the safest and is a bit apocalyptic (barbed fence wires with no one walking around) but I think it adds to the charm of the place. Just don't recommend coming here at night and take an Uber/drive if you can as it's located in an industrial area.

I really love the concept of this place and what it stands for. Being able to donate art supplies…read moreand give them a second life is such a great idea, and I was excited to contribute. That said, my recent donation experience was honestly off-putting. When I dropped off my items, the person working the donation window was very dismissive and quickly waved me off without any acknowledgment or basic courtesy. It felt like I was being shooed away rather than thanked for donating. It might seem like a small interaction, but for a place that relies on community contributions, that moment matters. A simple "thank you" or even a neutral, respectful handoff would go a long way. I still appreciate the mission, but the experience made me think twice about donating again. Hoping this is something the team can address.

You can tell that Simone is a true artist, and has taken much time and effort in realizing her creations. Everything is hand-made with care. The large canvas bags are put together with jean material, fabric from Mexico, hand-sewn flowers, hand-painted flowers and images of Frida. There are many gift ideas. I bought several small cross-body bags (two for me, one for my friend in Tokyo). You can remember your trip to SF with a painting of cats enjoying a romp in front of the Golden Gate Bridge. For the Frida admirer, check out her images and irreverent poetry adorned with hand-painted flowers and Simone's original "wall paper" background. Simone can usually be found on Market Street at Embarcadero Plaza, Thursdays to Saturdays: 415-806-7877 and petartistdiva@yahoo.com.

I have been stitching for over 35…read moreyears and have patronized stores all over the US, and there is no place like Needlepoint Inc. Since discovering the shop, I have gotten all of my projects there. The selection of canvases is superb; the fibers and threads are spectacular; and the finishing services are just unbelievable! I've had my projects framed, made into pillows, turned into foot stools and Christmas stockings, and framed, and have gotten tons of compliments on them. Another reviewer stated that the canvases are "overpriced" -- these are NOT Michael's-style kits, but hand-painted mini-masterpieces, and as for the fibers, pure wool and silk are not cheap synthetic. When you buy a canvas from Needlepoint Inc., you're investing in an heirloom, and you get what you pay for. At Needlepoint Inc., what you're getting is the very best.

There is lots to look at and explore, but the coolest part in my opinion was seeing two ladies in the back finishing pieces by hand.
