The prices initially caught my attention (best I've seen), but what really stood out was Jessica's approach. She keeps things small and calm--only a few dogs at a time, minimal kenneling, and a clear focus on each dog's comfort. You can tell she genuinely cares. The biggest proof? My dog LOVES going. I'll say "let's go see Jessica," and she runs to the car. She's always happy when I pick her up, and after two years, we won't go anywhere else. Even my neighbor now brings both of her dogs here. I have a 70lb goldendoodle who doesn't always arrive clean--sand, chalk, even gum--and Jessica handles it all without complaint. I've also brought her in matted before and have only ever been met with kindness, never judgment. My dog hates nail trims, and Jessica always honors my request and lets me come in to help comfort her, which has made a huge difference. If you're looking for a high-fashion, show-style groom, this may not be your place--but honestly, I wouldn't know because we go for function over fashion. Please don't take your animals here. I knew it in my gut before it registered, the way she didn't interact with the animals. And then she made me leave and told me she would call. I felt so uneasy about it that after 20 minutes I began to click past the google review into the yelp and my heart sank. Photos and stories about cuts, harsh treatment and terrible quality grooming. I was only here for bath and nails. When I approached the door it was locked I could see her and she turned seen me and IGNORED ME. I had to call to get her to acknowledge me and THEN I had to DEMAND her to open the door. When I seen my chihuahua shaking on the table (chihuahuas shake) I assumed it was okay until I seen her nail! It was bloody and short! Her nails were so long that there's no reason for this. Never did she apologize but began to blame me being there! I told her that she did the nails well prior to my arrival at her door as the dogs were both done with trimming. I can tell by my pups demeanor that they were harshly treated! I was rudely told to get the f$@& out as I was clarifying to her that me arriving well after the nail trim makes her attempts to blame me invalid, untrue. It is my opinion that that was revelatory of her intentions of being a harsh person to animals and to clients. Zero star. read more

Jessica is hands down the best groomer I've ever worked with. She takes the time to do a great job, and keeps the dogs as calm as possible in a stressful situation. Waited a month to post because I was too upset. I came in with an over grown mini schnauzer and left with a shaved dog (unevenly shaved at that) who now looks like a chihuahua. The appointment was almost 3 hours long, I assumed I hadn't heard from the groomer because she was being meticulous on doing the typical schnauzer cut as we discussed. Boy was I WRONG!! I couldn't get out of there fast enough when picking up my dog. Jessica seemed to want to chat about my dog's behavior, and boast about how "cute" she was while I fought back tears and wanted the total so I could pay her and get the hell out of there. My boyfriend called to discuss where the miscommunication occurred and although she apologized, she stated I said it was OKAY to shave my dog. At check in, Jessica asked me how she's been groomed before and I was very specific. Trim brows so she could see, leave legs long, shave belly (it was matted badly during quarantine), keep her skirt long and keep her beard long just like a typical schnauzer. She found a tangle in her beard and I told her Petco has always been able to trim underneath to get it out or brush it out. Never did I EVER instruct her or give her permission to completely shave my dog. Please make sure to go on her website and read her bio before choosing to come here. I have always taken my puppy to Petco in Eagan and the lead groomer there does a PHENOMENAL job. (I just couldn't get an appointment with them for a while and decided to support a smaller local business instead and it totally backfired.) worst experience ever with a groomer. Jessica did not listen to anything I told her to do. she also cut my dog severely on multiple spots on her body. Her haircut is very choppy. Today I learned from a Groomer who will be correcting the botched haircut that Jessica gave my pet; that previous to owning Just Paws, Jessica used to work for other groomers but was unable to stay employed. Because she was unable to hold a steady job working with animals under the supervision and management of others, her parents helped her open up her own business which apparently is simple to do because there aren't licensing requirements in place to groom pets. Jessica did not strike me as a kind, gentle, warm or nurturing human being. The thought of her having pets under her supervision makes me so sad. Please do not risk your baby's well being. read more

Brought my dog home looking like a random person off of the street took a clippers to his coat. He is a young dog, so understandably may not be as well behaved as an older veteran dog at the groomer. Jess and I discussed this and I requested functional over beautiful, as I know grooming a young dog can be difficult! However, when I came to pick up my pup, I was astounded at the hack job that had taken place. His legs and feet had not been touched. His ears and flank had bald spots shaved into them. His face was half shaved and ears left red and irritated after her plucking the hair out of them. I asked if he was aggressive or unmanageable, as I couldn't think of any other reason why my dog would look SO awful. Her response was "he was just sort of wiggly." Needless to say, I will never bring my dog back here again and will never recommend Jess to anyone looking for a groomer. read more

Very happy with this place. Both Jessica and Lisa do an awesome job and are so sweet to our dog. They keep a photo of him in his file so that his cut is consistent each time - which I love. He always seems relaxed and happy when I pick him up - even despite his total anxiety melt down each time I drop him off. Also, the price is better than most places in town and that doesn't hurt. read more

I live in the area and have been using the services at Just Paws for years and have been extremely satisfied with their pet grooming services. Brenda the owner was exceptional!! However as of May 1st, 2014 it is under new ownership and am sad to say I will definitely NOT be returning. I have spoken to at least three other pet owners in my area who feel the same way I do and will also not be returning. They did a very poor job of cutting my Shichon's hair leaving her looking nothing like she should. Brenda had a detailed card with photo and instructions for the new gals who were taking over although it would appear that they didn't follow it but nonetheless they lost it after the first appointment. At the second appointment I showed them a picture and they said they would call Brenda but my Shichon's haircut still wasn't right. I got home and left a message with them to call me; to set up next appointment, to discuss last haircut and to see if they had gotten Brenda's notes as I had only quickly ran in to pick my sweetie up and didn't have a chance to talk to them while there. They never called me back. Over the next two weeks I left two more messages and still no return call. I then stopped in and asked about scheduling next appointment but asked first if they were either able to find the instruction card or made a call to Brenda. There are two gals there and they started looking again for the card but couldn't find it and the owner Lauren said she would call Brenda and would I like to schedule. I said I guess I would like to know that they got the info from Brenda first at which point she then said that she had talked to Brenda although for some reason she had never told the other gal(ever) who had actually groomed my pet. The other gal stood their confused and said "oh, I tried Brenda but hadn't heard from her." The whole thing was very weird . Lauren then answered the phone and I said I think I am going to wait or possibly try somewhere else. She then, while on the phone said to me that I am being a rude customer and that I need to leave. She was extremely rude in her tone!! I would not recommend Just Paws!!! read more
