This review is for the CSA, compost delivery, and the maple syrup season pancake breakfasts…read more Our CSA experience got off to a rocky start because we had trouble paying our balance online because there wasn't an option for the right amount. But once that was sorted it has been pretty epic. Lots and lots of in-season fresh veggies, "market style" so you pick what you'll use more of, and the farm partners with a few places to offer some things they don't grow themselves (e.g. peaches). Pick up has been smooth and consistently easy. The only small downer has been the "pick your own" section in the lower fields. There's inadequate signage and a lot of times when we go to look for things on the week's board we can't find them or they are picked out. Once or twice l've seen other customers pick things not on the board which always makes us a little sad. This "added benefit" of the CSA has just mostly not worked for us. We had compost delivered by the farm once. Getting notified about the delivery took awhile, but once we were scheduled communication was clear and the delivered product has seemed to be excellent at helping our plants grow. Lastly, we have gone to the farm for pancake breakfasts with maple syrup. Go hungry! These pancake meals have been a good fit for our family: plenty to eat, casual and no frills, and tasty. We don't go regularly (because I can make pancakes at home) but it's a nice little splurge for a day when no one has to cook or clean.

Today was buffet as it's maple sugar weekend with larger crowds. Plans are probable cook to order as the season progresses. Delicious oven baked fluffy scrambled eggs, blueberry & plain pancakes, French toast, their own ham & sausage, maple cured kielbasa, smoky 2 bean baked w/ their bacon and maple of course. Farm made no added sugar apple sauce w/cinnamon of local grown apples. Coffee, tea, orange juice available. On the tables, 3 varieties of syrup. Everything was served hot and super satisfying. We were staying in a…read morehotel nearby and really enjoyed our visit to this farmers market, which is tucked away on a side street and is walkable from anywhere in the downtown area. There were cheese vendors, a bread vendor, live music, fruit & vegetable vendors, flower vendors, a mushroom vendor, and craft vendors as well. Great place to grab something freshly made to eat and sit and enjoy the warm, friendly, and relaxed atmosphere. We'll definitely visit again the next time we're in the area.

The market is in a parking lot behind 50 Payson Avenue and during the summer it is open on Sundays from 10-2. There is plenty of parking on the streets that surround the market, or in the park across the street. It's a "Producer Focused" market, meaning that the vendors are expected to "grow, raise, produce, or create their products themselves, or they will provide unique products that represent other local farmers". There was live music on site which was a nice addition to the vendor booths that offered local vegetables, fruits, meats, seafood, dairy, eggs, grains, nuts, flowers, wine, herbs, crafts, clothing, and specialty products. We stopped by an art booth which provided kids the opportunity to make a cool craft. It was a bird feeder using a cake cone and a string of Cheerios on a pipe cleaner to act as the holder. This was a very creative idea! The gal running the booth was great and she gave our little friend a bag of bird seed to place inside once we returned home. I also stopped by the Creme Bru.LA booth because I freaking love crème brûlée. I sampled 3/4 flavors: maple, earl grey, and sweet corn. All so tasty! We ended up getting one of each and enjoyed them on this warm day at the picnic tables under a tent. I think this is a unique business idea and wish them well. Check them out on IG: cremebru.la. A friend brought me here while I was visiting Northampton and what a treat! $80 later I left with a hand warming mug, a pair of earrings, a bracelet, a roast baster, and a delicious treat called a wrapple (an apple turnover on steroids). I left there with visions of a T-shirt that I will buy for my cat-loving friend entitled "Petting map" which showed all the reachable petting zones on a cat with hilarious captions like "yes, please" and "don't even think about it." Not verbatim but you get the idea. This outfit had all the qualities of the best general store--stocks everything you could ever want, something for everyone, with friendly and helpful staff.

Great experience, a little expensive IMO, but I hope the quality makes up for it. Also, we felt like we were helping the small and local businesses.
