Many great deals to be had. We also picked up some fresh vegetables for really low prices. Also, here, we discovered Brew Berry, where are you can get some really tasty açaí bowls. Definitely, worth a visit if you're in the area and want to experience some of the local culture, produce, and other products. The season for this market this year is from May 23rd. to October 20th.

We were staying in a…read morehotel nearby and really enjoyed our visit to this farmers market, which is tucked away on a side street and is walkable from anywhere in the downtown area. There were cheese vendors, a bread vendor, live music, fruit & vegetable vendors, flower vendors, a mushroom vendor, and craft vendors as well. Great place to grab something freshly made to eat and sit and enjoy the warm, friendly, and relaxed atmosphere. We'll definitely visit again the next time we're in the area.

But, they are great choices of people, many of whom operate in Pittsfield or adjacent towns. I am a huge fan of Square Roots Farm, Hilltop Orchards and Cricket Creek Farms. Hardly a week goes by that I do not get something from each of them. Many others are also great. Here is a tip -- if you have the time -- go to both this market and the one in Lanesboro at the Berkshire Mall. They are at the same time and are only a few miles apart. The difference is that most of the Lanesboro vendors get their produce from the Pioneer Valley (Springfield / Northhampton / Amherst region). Their growing season is a little different. So, sometimes you will find fresh strawberries in one market and fresh blueberries in the other.

For 30 years I've either baked or picked up a raspberry pie for my husband's birthday. Since we…read morejust moved to the area and this place seemed pretty busy, I thought I'd try one of their pies. Stopped in yesterday and got a raspberry pie and a "walnut" brownie for myself. I ate the brownie on the drive home. It was dry, hard and contained pecans, not walnuts. Not a big deal for me since I like both walnuts and pecans. But still ... The pie might be the second worst raspberry pie I've purchased (second only to one that never gelled). First, it's salty. EW! It should be sweet and tangy. Heck, my husband wouldn't mind tart. But salty? No. Second, I paid $22 for a pie with what looks and tastes like canned raspberries. The filling if very syrupy, gooey. Either that or they misused ClearJel rather than tapioca or corn starch for thickening. It's so thick, it coats the back of your throat, like you've eaten corn syrup poured over smashed raspberries. It doesn't taste like the appropriate amount of sugar was added to the filling either. It does not taste fresh at all. It tastes like one I could have picked up at the grocery store. As a matter of fact, I think Hannaford's has mini pies that are far better.

Actually, if you live here you are probably cursing me right now in hippie speak because you have been coming here for 20 years.* Actually, if you live here, you probably aren't looking up your favorite farmer's market on Yelp so I'll just have at it. In 12-15 vendors or so you will find everything that you need to eat healthy and well. From meat to vegetables to fruit to other more savory items (pie, honey), you can easily do your shopping for the week sans beverages. It's an extremely friendly and community oriented atmosphere, accepting of anyone who wants to partake in the festivities. As a side to the market on Maple St., there is a flea market area where there are also food vendors, tents and picnic tables to enjoy your food and some live music. If you are lucky, you will even get to witness some dancing that has probably been going on here since the actual Woodstock. Get a couple tacos from Black Eyed Suzies and do yourself a big favor and get some pretzel bread from that nice lady with the pretzel stand. If you really want to treat yourself, get a chocolate filled pretzel croissant. Actually, get three and send me one...or all three. With Woodstock not full of too much to do at night, this market that spills over into the evening is the perfect opportunity to eat, shop, mingle with the locals and enjoy the cross section of Woodstock that makes it such a relaxing and inviting place to spend some time. _____________ *Sorry.

Fresh foods, fresh coffee, fresh, pastries, fresh premade foods, fresh packaged meats, and cheeses from the locals, and don't forget the jams! I have officially made three trips this week :-) They also have the most fabulous juice options! Earlier this week, I chose the ginger lemonade. Very heavy with natural ginger and I love it. It's very tasty by itself, but be ready for that kick of ginger. I happen to really love ginger and know how good it is for me, so I went back and got more. Now, that being said, it is wonderful, mixed with Absolut with a little bit of sugar! L O L ;-) My son and his beautiful wife and kids moved to the Berkshires for his job!! They try to support every local business, because they own one as well!! What a beautiful area!!
