I went ahead and took his advice and added 1 more person. 5 people, 4 hours, $50.00 per hour, $1,000.00 Total. When Yovani was done I went to inspect the usual work. Only 45% complete. When confronted with why the routine job was not completed as usual especially with 1 extra crew member his response was "it's a lot of work." I was clearly scammed. Please note especially if you are a senior.

So basically, we were moving into a house in Santa Cruz County that needed some hard-core tree and bush removal so we could do a termite tenting before we moved in. We are on a tight timeline and wasn't even really sure what the best approach would be. Guadalupe was one of the three landscaper estimates we got and, though the estimate prices were comparable, we decided to go with him because we really liked him and his ideas. We also liked the fact that he mentioned he can arrange / help with much more than landscaping when we need extra help. That's was great to hear in a time where it's not easy to find reliable skilled crews. So... fast forward, he gave us an estimate and timeframe and stuck to it. He took notes on what we needed to help the house, how I wanted the trees trimmed, and offered suggestions (like when he thought I'd be unhappy with my results of severe trimming). Then the crew removed and/or trimmed trees, bushes, and even an old shed for us. We were able to meet the timeline of our termite tenting and end-of-month move in. On the few occasions when he answered my calls, he provided vague ETAs and ultimately never showed up. Update 07/03/2026: Ok, this has become even more ridiculous. Please see the new photos uploaded on July 3. As you can see, I uploaded the receipt from him showing that he received $2,000, but in reality, I have paid him more than $2,230 in total. I'm not sure whether there are any tax-related implications here, but the bigger issue is that after damaging my backyard and failing to install the new pavement, he still sent me a bill today that includes the pavement cost he wants me to pay. This has been extremely unprofessional. I now need to find a new contractor to fix my backyard. Based on my experience, I would recommend avoiding working with him if possible.

K & D rose to a difficult challenge. We are a small, alternative High School with a limited budget, tiny campus, and reduced student body. A former beloved teacher who passed away a year ago, was memorialized with a garden which wouldn't exist, if not for various companies, including K & D Landscaping. I live in the Aptos Knoll Mobilehome Park where K&D do all our common area landscape maintenance. We are all proud of our grounds and K&D keeps it in top-notch condition. They are very proactive in keeping weeds at bay, hedges trimmed, and ground cover nice looking. There was still sand/debris of up to 4 inches in multiple areas throughout. You could barely see the red pavement below all the sand still in garage and backyard and entry areas) (see photos). When I requested Daren finish sweeping sand away, he became combative and said he did the best he could and would not do more. He threatened to sue me and put a lien on my house if I did not give him a check immediately. After I refused to pay him till job was finished per our contract, he reluctantly sent his guys to finish job. When I gave Daren his check and said how disappointed I was with his earlier threats, he continued to insult me ( and my neighbor who was with me as well). All I was looking for was a thank you for my business and a sorry he did not do the job right the first time. I have never experienced this lack of professionalism in my 30 plus years working with contractors. That is why a one star even though job was finally completed. Buyer beware.

The one thing they focused on -- scraping the driveway -- was communicated as an extra cost, but they never told me how much it would be. I didn't find out until after the fact that it ate up nearly my entire budget. I already had quotes from other companies for a fraction of what they charged. The results were just as bad. I had taken my own before-and-after photos, and they clearly showed benches knocked over, trash left behind, and areas that looked worse than before. The company didn't provide any proof of work themselves -- just told me it was done and expected me to believe it, even though my pictures showed otherwise. My realtor confirmed it didn't look like much had been done. In the end, I had to spend another $3,000 to hire someone else to finish the work they were supposed to do. On top of that, the owner repeatedly called and threatened to put a lien on my property instead of working with me to resolve things fairly. If you're considering this company, beware: they underdelivered, overcharged without being upfront, and left my property in worse shape than before.

His Team did an A+ job. Ive used others before and it is usually a B Job with bushes still showing roots etc but Will makes sure the job is completed to top standard.
