Came here on Sunday during a Memorial Day (wine tasting) Weekend on the recommendation of friends. What a gem right in tiny downtown Carlton on the 2 block Main Street! Ken, the owner and "K" of K&M Wines, is clearly passionate about wine and easily engaged in conversation about how he and his partner came to buy the vineyard and open this shop. Ken and the entire staff are friendly, knowledgeable and delightful. All of the tastings, ranging from Chardonnay, Rose, Syrah and Pinot, were quite good. I especially liked their Rose and bought some to enjoy on my deck. For the Wine Weekend, they had an amazing spread of cheeses, jams, truffle salt and meats with sliced baguette. Everything was so delicious and a perfect accompaniment to the wine sampling. The truffle salt was incredible, just a tiny bit on the Brie and it takes it to another level. Immediately I knew I was buying a container! There is a boutique right next store that you can explore with your wine in hand. Nice selection of local artisan jewelry and clothes. Shopping and wine tasting is a perfect combo! Even though it was a gorgeous sunny day, I enjoyed my time inside at K&M, tasting at the beautiful wooden bar and engaging in easy conversation. Will definitely be back! Thanks, Ken.

Super friendly folks work here and serve excellent value amazingly good Pinot Noir and Syrah wines! Great atmosphere and often have live entertainment on Saturday. Really cool gift shop attached to it.

Very Very relaxing place. Will always stop here. The guy that pours, I think is one of the owners, is personable, knowledgeable, and fun to talk to. We don't have any K & M in our wine rack, but will soon. Thanks

For one, they charged us a flat fee for the wines ($125 for two bottles-Duet Club). Regardless of what we received we were always charged the same amount. I reached out to them as some bottles appeared to retail for less, but am still not clear on the reasoning behind this. I suppose it makes it easier from an accounting purpose, but we weren't fans of the policy. I do appreciate that our wine club membership was only 4 bottles per year. We're members of 8 OR and CA wineries and none of them have this low of a minimum purchase. The wine club membership allowed for two free tastings per visit and then each additional tasting was $30 per person. The winery is centrally located, but I personally wasn't a fan of it. Its located at a old train depot right in town. The lawn is nice, but the picnic tables and benches, where tastings occur, weren't super inviting. Inside had this old fashioned country home feel to it and it just wasn't our cup of tea. Wine events were decent, but I think we just weren't huge fans of the winery and then the flat fee for wine bottles made us decide to cancel. Worth trying their wines if you're in the area, but hard for me to recommend the wine club.

This was an odd experience. I had reserved a tasting with J'Aime a month or so ahead of time--so as…read morea visitor from the midwest, I had put it into my itinerary. The night before, I emailed to confirm--only to get, the next morning, a text from J'Aime saying that I had never followed through. We ended up talking on the phone, and this was so very weird for me because I was actually looking at the email I had sent while she was aggressively arguing that I hadn't sent it. As things developed, she conceded that she missed it (but didn't apologize for gaslighting me), and agreed--somewhat reluctantly--to meet me, as long as I could get there earlier. I got there as fast as I could, maybe 40 minutes ahead of schedule. Then, I was given a very fast tour where I was told to not ask questions, to not speak at all, to just listen to her "set piece." It's not that the "set piece" wasn't interesting--it was, in a way. But 1/3 of it was stuff I already knew, from traveling the area for a couple weeks, and 1/3 of it was stuff she presented so quickly--and clearly not wanting me to ask questions--that I couldn't fully grasp it, as I had wished. The other 1/3 was useful. At the winery itself, the wine was fine, I liked it. There was nothing so special that I felt the need to join a membership, but I did take a bottle of wine back to my Airbnb with me. And to J'Amie's credit, she did make sure that I was fully recompensated for both the tour and the tasting. This was a learning/studying trip for me. I'm a former professor; studying wine is my retirement hobby. To shut "students" down from asking questions is inimical to real learning, so I was very disappointed in this. This was one of two wineries in Oregon who insisted on forced listening, rather than engaging.

The staff were all excellent, everyone very knowledge, polite, & prompt. I enjoyed their larger than most wineries menu of food, lots of options! And last but not least the views! It seemed his goal was to just give a "set piece." To move me in and out as fast as possible, even though the winery was rather unoccupied that day. He did warm up a bit when I ordered an extra bottle for the three of us to share, but when the other couple agreed to split the cost, he didn't split it (it was fully on my bill). The Sparkling Rose was really really good. I came from the midwest for a month, hoping to learn a lot from each winery (and I emailed each winery months ahead of time, expressing my goals), and I visited 15+ wineries in that time. This was the second most disappointing, and the most expensive. There are so many better options--go elsewhere. This was one of 5 wineries that I didn't join their club. I left feeling like I was surplus grapes, the third cluster that is cut off during flowering.
