I had a fantastic experience tasting here with my partner. The tasting room itself doubles as a little artisanal goods shop-- think little wool/knit wine bags and hand-crafted birdhouses. The birdhouses in particular were absolutely lovely and added so much charm to the space. The tasting room takes walk-ins, and were greeted as soon as we entered and told we could sit anywhere. Our sommelier was absolutely delightful-- there were two women working and both were so, so friendly and made us feel very welcome. We tasted one white (a Chardonnay that I actually quite liked despite it being my least favorite white wine) and a number of reds. When they poured the various pinot noirs, they brought a second glass and had us do a side-by-side comparison. I absolutely LOVE it when tasting rooms make the effort to do this-- it really brings us the differences in the wines so you can tell what you're trying. We also tasted a red blend and a syrah. The syrah was my favorite. In the midst of us tasting the reds, the women pouring for us brought out a couple of chocolate hearts, which was really the cherry (or the chocolate) on top. It's been hard in the past couple of years to find people that offer such a wonderful experience at this price point ($20)-- especially if you're a younger person. Came here on Sunday during a Memorial Day (wine tasting) Weekend on the recommendation of friends. What a gem right in tiny downtown Carlton on the 2 block Main Street! Ken, the owner and "K" of K&M Wines, is clearly passionate about wine and easily engaged in conversation about how he and his partner came to buy the vineyard and open this shop. Ken and the entire staff are friendly, knowledgeable and delightful. All of the tastings, ranging from Chardonnay, Rose, Syrah and Pinot, were quite good. I especially liked their Rose and bought some to enjoy on my deck. For the Wine Weekend, they had an amazing spread of cheeses, jams, truffle salt and meats with sliced baguette. Everything was so delicious and a perfect accompaniment to the wine sampling. The truffle salt was incredible, just a tiny bit on the Brie and it takes it to another level. Immediately I knew I was buying a container! There is a boutique right next store that you can explore with your wine in hand. Nice selection of local artisan jewelry and clothes. Shopping and wine tasting is a perfect combo! Even though it was a gorgeous sunny day, I enjoyed my time inside at K&M, tasting at the beautiful wooden bar and engaging in easy conversation. What a gem! This place wasn't even on my extensive bookmark list, but my friend and I decided to stop in after a quick search on Yelp. We wanted to fit in a wine tasting before dinner downtown, and this place was a hit! The tasting was seated in the shop with plenty of room between our party and the next table. There was a great variety of wines, and my friend and I were digging every single one of them. My friend isn't the biggest fan of reds, especially not bold ones, but even the syrah and cabernet franc were crowd pleasers. The only conundrum was what to order. We wanted everything. The Best! Great wine at fair prices. Generous, hospitable and always friendly. We can't ever walk away without buying a case or two. With so many different wines to try here this is a must-stop no-brainer if passing through or hitting a bunch of tasting rooms in Carlton. We went wine tasting for the first time in the Willamette Valley to explore their famous Pinot Noirs. We decided to go to Carlton as its a small town with several wine tasting rooms all within a short walking distance from each other. We asked the locals for the top wine tasting places in town and K & M came up a few times. We were greeted by Megan and Felipe and what fantastic representatives they are....not only for the winery but also as warm welcome to the town of Carlton. The place has many local artists crafts to shop while enjoying the wine and of course, the good company of Felipe and Megan. The wines were just as delightful as the staff at K&M. This is certainly a place to come in and enjoy the wine tasting while visiting Carlton. read more

Loved my visit to K & M. They are super nice and welcoming. Their wines are yummy, loved the Reserve I tasted last Saturday. The flight consisted of 5 wines but they actually had us taste a total of 8, 3 that aren't available yet. They had nibbles for us too. We took over their table in the front window and they were more than happy to bring the wine to us even though we were happy to go up to the tasting bar. When I asked if it would be possible to get a glass of water they brought some for our entire party of 10, really going above and beyond. This place is lovely! They had a live musician that was wonderful to listen to while we sampled the wines. They have a pinot that has a rose flavor to it that I just adored, and I'm not a pinot drinker. I didn't care for their Rose' or whites, but thier reds are delicious! I'll be back! read more

We decided to stop here because of the $15 for $30 Yelp deal and we were headed to Carlton anyway. It was quite overwhelming to figure out which tasting rooms to go to in Carlton with limited time and so many options. We were glad we stopped in here. The young man working behind the counter seemed a bit timid and shy but was so friendly and full of tips/pointers for the area. I got the feeling he hadn't been working there for long but he made up for it with his personality, as he started relaxing. Not sure if there is a tasting fee, as we did not pay one, and I don't think it had to do with the Yelp deal. Their wines are very reasonably priced and our two favorites were the Pinot Noir Cuvee and their Reserve. Cute space with local art too. read more

My bestie and I took a trip to the area for wine tasting and it did not disappoint! K&M was the best. The wines were wonderful, as was the space which was shared with an adorable boutique as well as plenty of art. Jenny helped us with the tasting and she was such a delight to visit with. She recommended visiting Marshall Davis right across the street as well as the Beacon Hill Winery which are all bottled by the same people. They each have a current vintage rose, created by one of the owners, yet somehow are different and amazing. It was such fun to taste wine that way! read more

This is one of my favorite stops in Carlton! Their wines are exceptional, my favorite is their viognier. The staff is so friendly and knowledgable. They even put out cheese and bread to nibble on while your tasting! I also love that they have other varietals than just pinot. Their Grenache and syrah are also amazing if you are into bold reds. After living in Sherwood for 3 years, we finally decided to check out the Sherwood wineries figuring that we probably wouldn't be too impressed. We couldn't have been more wrong. It ended up being a great afternoon of wine tasting and K&M was our favorite among them. They are really an example of doing what they do very well. They don't make high-end pinots or have a super-snooty tasting room, but what they do have is definitely worth a visit. Their tasting area overlooks their small vineyard and is more like hanging out in a friend's backyard - wonderfully relaxing and mellow. Ken and Mauro themselves were both on hand when I visited their tasting room and tasted their wines at a few events, and they're decent guys to hang with as well. And the wines themselves are definitely good, especially at their price point. We just opened a bottle of their 2008 Chardonnay last night and really enjoyed it with our meal. I can't remember the exact price, but it was so affordable that we bought a case. We also bought 3 or 4 bottles of their pinot which we found to be very good given the price. These are bottles that you'll love to have on hand for more casual gatherings. My only negative comment would be about their parking situation. We almost didn't go there because parking was painful, but we stopped on our way back by and were very glad we did. read more

We love K & M! We were given a coupon for a free tasting a couple years ago and now are wine club members. All their wines are amazing and their tasting room in Carlton is very relaxing and they always have some snacks to pair with the tasting. Ken is usually in the tasting room and makes everyone feel welcome and at home. We always feel lucky when Mauro is around too. While the wines are excellent it is nice to have such great people behind the wines. My boyfriend always says, "I love those guys". I love them too!
