We visited Fairsing during a recent trip to Portland / Bend. There are so many vineyards to chose from in the Willamette Valley, but Fairsing came recommended from a few different folks. We stopped in for a tasting on a weekday late morning / early afternoon, and it was not crowded at all. We had a lovely tablet right by the window, allowing us to overlook their beautiful property. It was a little chilly during our visit, but during the summer months, I'm sure it would be beautiful to sit outside for the tasting. We did spend a bit of time walking around the property, which I'm glad we could do - it was truly lovely and with great views. The wine tasting itself was excellent - we tried just the right amount of wine, and I appreciated all the backstories and info our server gave us with each one. I particularly loved the Fairsing Vineyard Pinot Noir (this is the Willamette Valley, after all!), but all our pours were delightful. The quality was high, the wines were complex yet simple enough to understand, the service was wonderful, and the views (even on a cloudy, chilly day) were impeccable. We wound up taking a few bottles back with us, which was a great move to continue the experience even after we left the premises. This is hands down the prettiest spot in Yamhill. The views are amazing. They have very good wines and service is terrific. We have been visiting them and buying their wines for many years and recently joined their wine club. my favorites include their Estate Chardonnay and Pinot but let your taste buds be your guide! Took a trip to wine country on Friday afternoon while visiting my dear friend Brian. It took about an 1 hour from Portland to get there. We left the rain behind us to a spectacular cool sunny day which was perfect for sipping wine. We were greeted by Brandy, Margaret and Lucas standing behind the wine bar. The vineyard was set on the hill in a beautiful structure with large glass windows looking out to the valley. A "flight" ( a selection of wine tastings for the day) was $20 per person and included 4 selections: A Rose, A Chardonnay, and a few Pinot Noirs. *Tasting price waved when you purchase a few bottles of wine Brandy was very knowledgeable about each selection explaining the way it was made and the notes. We took our wine outside and sat in the Adirondack chairs to sip it and enjoy the view. Everything was so green! When we were ready for our next tasting we would walk back in and then chat with the Fairsing staff learning more about the vineyard as well as the staff. They also offer cheese platters and other appetizers that compliment the wines for a reasonable price. There is an outdoor fireplace where you can sit on a sofa and enjoy the warmth and your wine! Great attribute. I look forward to returning with my husband on my next trip. I highly recommend the Fairsing Vineyard located in Yamhill, Oregon. read more

My favorite vineyard in the Willamette valley! We were there on a beautiful sunny day, warm for early May. We had our tasting outside and the views were just amazing! The tasting room is at the top of a hill the views surround you almost 360 degrees. One of our group was a member so we were able to have a picnic lunch after the tasting. I could have stayed all afternoon. The wines were good. My favorite was a chardonnay, which was a huge surprise. I usually prefer the reds. Their chardonnays are light and crisp, not real heavy or oaky, very refreshing and perfect for an outdoor picnic. Put this vineyard on your list of must-sees for the Willamette Valley. read more

I've been waiting years to try Fairsing as I've heard so many good things. Sadly, from the moment we walked in we felt like they were in a rush to get us tasting and out. The manager actually told us that we only have a small amount of time to taste because they had to get other parties in. We are working professional women who have been to multiple wineries throughout Oregon and love to support small businesses and wineries. But alas, the treatment and attitude we got immediately clouded our whole experience and we felt no desire to support their business after that. The wine pours are so tiny you could barely get a sense of what the wine actually taste like. We ordered the cheese plate for four of us, which came with too few crackers for the amount of cheese there was (which wasn't a lot). They gave us only one knife to share between all of us and all the food, including blue cheese plus the jam. Who wants jam on the same knife as their blue cheese?! The view is very pretty but definitely not worth it to drive that far to receive such inhospitable welcome and minimalistic food and drink. You never get a second chance to make a first impression. Will be taking our business, our friends, our colleagues, our families, our visitors, and everyone else we know to any other winery but this one. read more

The views here: STUNNING. The wine here: PHENOMENAL. The staff here: 90% wonderful, 10% not great. At our second visit, we became members. Because it is a beautiful place to go and hang out and enjoy a sunny Oregon Day. We recently found out, unfortunately, that wine club members only get 4 free tastings per year, which the other 3 vineyards we are members at don't have a tasting maximum. So frankly we won't visit as much, which means we won't buy as much wine from Fairsing, because it is a member perk at every other vineyard we're members at. But we have always really enjoyed the wine and it is a lovely location. It is fairly expensive to be a member, but the wine is truly extraordinary. Definitely make it a point to drive this 5 minute driveway (no I am not joking) to the top of this ridge, because even if you hate the wine, the views will take your breath away. read more

We did the seated private 10:00 am tasting in the new tasting room addition. Check the website and call for *this* appointment, you will not regret it. We relaxed and took in the spectacular views from this new space. Yes, for some (not me) 10 am is a little early for wine tasting but having the place essentially to ourselves one hour before the Saturday tasters arrived is a great way to enjoy a more peaceful experience. Zach couldn't have been more patient, knowledgeable, and welcoming to our group. He gave us a tour of the vineyard, explained the significance of the site orientation and the stewardship of the land. Top notch service here from everyone we came in contact with. We weren't expecting the charcuterie, wow! Doing a seated tasting provides the option of tasting each of the wines side by side if you choose instead of the normal tasting room sequence of one after the other from a single glass. This way I can really experience the differences which are sometimes subtle. It was also interesting going back and forth between the '13 and '15 Sullivan Vineyard Pinot Noir to see how the weather from each of these years impacted the flavors of these two wines. Finally, expect wineries with fantastic nearly 360 degree views to be a little off the beaten path and a little more difficult getting to. Seems obvious I think. The road up to the tasting room is in good shape and much better than some other wineries I've visited. read more

Fairsing was the first stop on a "Daughters and Mothers" wine tour that my friends and I booked through BackCountry Wine Tours. The grounds are beautiful, and the views are great. Inside the tasting room, Anna was awesome. She helped us with our wine selections, and also gave us a ton of recommendations for going out in Portland during the rest of our visit. We met the chef - and enjoyed her homemade chocolate, cheese and charcuterie platter. We bought a few bottles of wine to enjoy with the food, and sat outside talking, laughing, enjoying the view and taking photos for the next hour. The owner came out to meet our group as well. He was nice, though he seemed surprise to see such a large group of black women all together! I would definitely recommend this winery! read more

This is a great place if you're looking for a winery way back in the hills (seriously, the drive from the main road to the actual tasting room is no joke!) with a gorgeous view. Very nice Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. My only slight criticism is that the main tasting indoor area can get a bit loud with the acoustics, depending on the volume of the other tasting parties. Fairsing Vineyard is my new favorite Willamette Valley winery for the overall experience and quality wines located in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. They produce estate-grown Pinot noir, Chardonnay and Rosé of Pinot noir. Fairsing's 43 acres sit on slopes ranging from 400-750 feet in elevation. These growing conditions create a unique opportunity for the winemaker to highlight nuances of the same Pinot Noir clone grown on different facing slopes. As a wine nerd, I enjoyed experiencing this for the first time. The staff was knowledgeable, and we had a chance to talk about the unique characteristics of the various Pinot Noir clones. If you don't like Oregon Pinot Noir, maybe you just haven't had a Pinot Noir from a clone you would enjoy. Fairsing's modern and naturally lit tasting room sits at the top of a slope, and because of the elevation and unique angle, they have a remarkable (almost 360 degree) view of the valley. I could have sat there sipping wine all day watching the clouds roll by. They offer $20 tastings, which they waive if you purchase two bottles. You do not need reservations in advance unless you are a group of six or more. They also offer cheese plates for purchase to enjoy with your wine. read more

We went to Fairsing with another couple who are members of the wine club. The wine was okay, but that's a very personal thing so I'm not knocking them on that, it just didn't suite our tastes. They do think pretty highly of their Chardonnay though, at over $40 a bottle. The main reason for knocking off a couple of stars is that when we did decide to buy a bottle we did not get our friends' club discount. I've never been to a winery that did not extend the discount to guests of members. We've been to Erath, Arborbrook, Dobbes, Elizabeth Chambers, Domaine Drouhin, and many others, either as members or guests of members, and have always gotten the club member discount. Given the price point of most of their wine, most of it not being to our liking, and not extending club discounts when there as a guest of a club member, we probably won't bother going back. read more

Fairsing is definitely "wine with a view"; it's the best view we've seen so far at any winery - a panorama of green hills covered in clouds and grapevines. In warmer weather you can sit out on the lawn with a glass of any of their wines - all of which were delicious. The service was very friendly and informative, and we bought a case (they ship with a flat rate) after having a flight - we had a fabulous Chardonnay and some great pinots here. NOTE: It can be a bit tricky to get here if you rely on GPS; google maps misdirected us to private property that apparently abuts the vineyard, so we had to completely turn around-- the drive up is picturesque and extremely curvy. They also offer cheese and charcuterie, which looked great, but we did not partake. The wine and the view on their own merit five stars. read more

I'm a fan of the Ribbon Ridge sub appellation... and was there over memorial day when I noticed the Fairsing sign. As a sucker for new experiences, we took the long gravel road to the top of the hill. I'll cut to the chase. I give Fairsing 5 stars for the site/view, the tasting room, and the way we were treated. The wines themselves weren't yet 5 stars (for my palate) but this literally may be the most stunning winery in the area. It's sited on top of one of the hills just east of Willakenzie and has about a 270 degree view. Just plain stunning. read more

It was also an incredibly gorgeous day when we were there which of course helped this review - mid 70s and not a cloud in the sky. Unreal.
