I've been wine tasting in the Eola Hills in Salem numerous times. I've been to the Dundee Hills only twice. That will definitely change. I absolutely adore the Dundee Hills wineries. It was only by shear happenstance that I even found this winery (I was searching for other wineries near Domaine Serene where we had a fabulous Yelp event). Was I glad I found Winter's Hill. Everyone at the winery was delightful. And the wine was incredible. The Pinot Noirs were fruity exactly how I like them. There was a great deal on Pinot Gris going on (6 for $60)--great price for a light, very drinkable white wine. A picturesque location near several other wineries. Friendly staff. Great wines. What more could you want?

$25 per person tasting. Robert guided us through all 5 wines at the start and showed us a cool palor trick to aerate the wine by rolling the glass on its side. Beautiful yellow tansy field. Undercover and dog friendly. 2016 was a perfect weather year for Willamette valley! Even saw a coyote in the field while we were tasting.

A++++ experience! Beautiful wines with a view. My husband & I shared a tasting for $15. We were chatted up by the owner & winemaker which made it feel very intimate. Why you come to wine country after all, right? Bought 2 bottles of wine, which waived the tasting fee ($15). If you've ever wondered: what wine pairs best with a banh mi sandwich? The answer is Winter's Hill Rose ($25). Paired perfectly with our picnic lunch.

We are SO happy we stopped in to this family owned winery. The wines were amazing and we sat out side and were served by Ann, one of the nicest ladies we met in Dundee. We loved hearing about the harvesting that was going on that day, and having a flight out on the patio.

Remember those obnoxious Ernest and Julio Gallo commercials from about ten years back with the yuppies, sitting around in some huge colonial villa, buzzed just enough to find each other attractive, loudly talking about nothing in particular, and sipping really shitty wine? It turns out people like that actually exist. I've never seen any of them in the course of my daily life, and yet whenever I go wine tasting in Dundee (which happens as infrequently as I can get away with) they're fucking everywhere. I usually have to take a few cyanide capsules with me, lest I fall into enemy hands. Considering the aforementioned regular clientele, the sterile, corporate surroundings most wineries feature, along with the pourers who are clearly reciting a memorized script, I think wine tasting might be my own personal version of hell. Dundee is less than an hour drive from Portland, but sometimes it can feel like a lot like California. Now, there are a lot of wineries in the Willamette Valley, and there are a lot of exceptions to the standard hellish experience. Winter's Hill is one of them: 1. Beautiful grounds, which they'll let you hike around on (see photos). 2. Sustainable farming practices that they actually know something about. (Ask the staff at most vineyards about sustainable farming, an they'll say something like, "It, you know, like, sustains, and stuff.") 3. Nice, genuine people; no snobbery at all. The aging yuppies (ouppies?) from the EJG commercial hate these people. 4. A barn. That's the tasting room. A big, red barn. You know, like you're on a farm. Not like you're in a fucking Starbucks. Oh, right, and the wine. Oddly, it's not really the most important part of the experience, since you can buy wine anywhere, and very often for a lot cheaper. They seem to take particular pride in their dessert wines, which I usually don't love because they can kind of punch you in the face, but theirs are more subtle, not so dominant. It's hard to be a good judge of pinot noir in a state that's drowning in it, but, generally speaking, if the pinot noir is good enough for Vitaly Paley to serve in his restaurant, it's good enough for me. I look forward to paying another visit; this time I may even leave the cyanide at home.

Top notch wines. There are so many fabulous wineries in the area but this one is definitely worth a stop. I'm not usually a Pinot fan but their pinots are always bold and flavorful. Their staff are kind, knowledgeable, and attentive.

We had such a great time at this winery. No fuss, super knowledgeable staff, and delicious wines. In no way was our experience over complicated with pretentious staff or other patrons- we had good conversation and a great time. Bought a couple of bottles and have recommended stopping by this gem to quite a few people. We were there on a weekday morning so no crowds. Tasting and bottle prices were on par for the rest of the region- wine was definitely better than a few of the places down the road.

    Beautiful views!!

Our first stop of the day on a Tuesday - not crowded which is how we like it. Not rushed. Very friendly staff (Julia) and owner. The Pinots were awesome and we bought a lovely bottle. Very nice patio to sit and enjoy the views.

I absolutely adore this spot for having N/A options which on this day was an orange creamsicle inspired slush. Service was really accommodating...since I can be quite the slow sipper at times. They definitely did not make us feel rushed. This is such a picturesque spot and I couldn't help but adore the giant tree with the tire swing in the middle. People were absolutely trekking across the lawn to enjoy it. This is a rather family friendly winery and there were tons of families, a bridal shower, and just folks enjoying the day. High high points for an inclusive space. Check it out if you're looking for a cute winery to enjoy!

Roughly 80% percent of their grapes are sold to other wineries, and they created their own wine label in 2003. They are one of the largest olive oil producers in the PNW, supplying the olive oil for Portland-based Salt & Straw's Arbequina Olive Oil Ice Cream. Their hilly property also has different farming blocks at different elevations with unique soil conditions and microclimates, which adds to the complexity of their wines and grapes. SCENIC VIEWS: Durant is perched in the Dundee Hills, and their outdoor seating area offers sweeping views of the Williamette Valley as well as their beautiful property. ADDITIONAL ACTIVITIES: The vineyard also includes a gift shop, plant nursery, expansive gardens, a nature trail, event spaces, and more. During my recent visit with two friends, we did a wine flight in their outdoor seating area, ordered the charcuterie board, walked on the nature trail, and ended our visit in the gifted shop where we tasted their fused olive oils. They were so flavorful and robust that I bought a three-pack to bring home with me. The weather was beautiful during our visit, service was top notch, and I thoroughly enjoyed the overall visit to Durant! - - - - - - - - - - - Note for Areas of Improvement: One of my friends--a white woman--intended to purchase several items from the gift shop, but she was offended and decided not to when an employee assumed she was our tour guide. While I'm sure the employee did not have malicious intentions, his comment still had a negative impact on her as a mother of interracial children. I'm noting this with the hope that these uncomfortable situations can be avoided in the future.
