Honestly, it's good enough to deserve both names. The potato latkes (or pancakes, depending on what you call them) absolutely stole the show. They came out hot and crispy straight from the fryer, served with sour cream and applesauce--every bite was better than the last. One thing I really appreciated: the owner/chef is very knowledgeable about the ingredients. I eat gluten-free, and he confidently assured me the latkes were gluten-free. I had no issues afterward, which is always the best confirmation. My husband had the pastrami sandwich and loved it. I ordered the brisket with coleslaw and a pickle--very good overall. It was just a touch salty for my taste, but I'd definitely order it again, maybe with sauce next time for a bit of balance. Also worth calling out: the place was absolutely spotless. Although lean, the dish was so rich that it was almost too much to finish. The kishka was also great, although it didn't come with gravy as it does at Lox, Stock & Deli. No matter, it was amazing. The service was a bit, well, silly, as the nice young woman who took the orders got overwhelmed by our changing our minds as well as with misunderstandings as well as, somehow not hearing our orders properly. No matter, no harm done. The only surprise was that when we asked for water, they gave us bottled for which we paid. But overall, the price? Outrageously low. When your order is ready, the buzzer goes off, and you pick your food up from the counter. The workers were all really nice. The food was just meh. My friend's Schnitzel, he said, was too greasy. I got a salad, and it was too mushy and just not crisp. The ingredients just didn't seem to go together, and the dressing just seemed to be plain mayonnaise. They have boxes of side salads and items to go. The other patrons seemed nice, too. Overall, it was a decent experience. But I would maybe try one of the other kosher restaurants in Lakewood next time.
