I went here because I was sick of finding bugs in my lettuce greens. A friend told me how kosher lettuce is checked for bugs. I went here and everyone was so helpful and friendly! I found some good lettuce greens as well as this mixed iceberg lettuce, cabbage and carrots; four vacuumed sealed in a pack. I love to buy that. I am pleased at the selection they have a the store is nicely arranged. I go here only for produce, so I don't know about the other things. read more

Based on my taste recently they have the best chopped liver, before it was a deli in the Lawrence Twp. area by the name of Weinstein's, but they closed many years ago and recently I was not satisfied with ShopRite at the Kosher Experience, it tasted better where the quality was closer to Weinstein's before but nothing ever has beaten Weinstein's chop liver. read more

I've been probably five years or more in the process of working up the courage to go into this place, and today I finally succeeded. Why courage? Well, this is, as the name implies, a Glatt Kosher restaurant, and it's in a deeply insular Hasidic Jewish community. And I am afraid of Hasidim. Don't get me wrong; it's not a phobia, and I'm not afraid of them as if they had cooties, but rather of the way they look into your soul and tell you with eyeball rays that you don't belong in the places where they are. What I find in reality though, as opposed to the roiling currents inside my mind, is that they are generally very friendly people (if not precisely outgoing), and that if you weather the stare, that's the end of it. No gang of ultra-orthodox toughs is going to drag you out into the parking lot and rearrange your suddenly embarrassing Germanic facial features because you've strolled onto their turf. Having only driven past it before, I have to say, it isn't as nice as it looks from the outside. In fact, it seems rather like one of those restaurants you walk into and say, "Oh, these poor folks ran out of money before opening. They are doomed." When you first come in, you'll make your way past a couple of soda coolers on the right, and gaze upon the menu boards - which are blank. They are suspended over a long deli display case, which is only 2/3 full. What items are in there are unmarked. It's obvious what some of them are, like cole slaw, barbecued chicken thigh/leg portions, cucumber salad, or carrot tzimmes (okay, that last one might not be obvious to everyone, but if you're reading this, I'm assuming you've been in a Kosher deli). Others are less clear. Others are missing, like Kasha Varnishkes, or any type of knish. The only path to guide a person without human interaction, at least on this visit, was a thin stack of paper menus in a lucite rack next to the register. I pulled one out, and the pages were glued together with shmutz like a fourteen year-old's cherished copy of Penthouse. Yuck, nasty, blech. "Sticky," I said, as I smiled at the kid across the counter, who looked barely old enough to be the owner of the aforementioned hypothetical magazine, and didn't seem very interested in being there. I was extremely disappointed in that menu. All I wanted was a sandwich, but I wanted a monster triple or quadruple decker with multiple meats - not something they seemed to have on offer. Not wanting to ask for anything special, I ordered a hot pastrami with cole slaw and Russian dressing, to go. I would have bet the house that the young man taking my request was high, because I had to repeat myself twice, but that seems outlandish. Possible, though, I suppose. Having not requested it that way, I was surprised when my sandwich turned up in a club roll. I just presumed I would get rye - so much for presumptions. It also was on a plate, and so needed to be repackaged for shipping. Isn't there some saying about 'the more people touch your food with their bare hands, the better it is?' No, I don't recall one either. All in all, it wasn't so bad, but it wasn't especially good. The pastrami was fatty, which I like, but the silverskin hadn't been properly trimmed off before cooking, rendering each slice a bit gristly at the top. The bread was surprising; it looked slightly underbaked, but didn't taste or feel it. They were not particularly generous with either the slaw or the Russian, or their 1/4 slice of a pickle, and they charged me a dollar more than the menu price. On top of that, I am now looking at a non-sticky copy of that menu, and seeing that there is a lunch special - sandwich, fries, and a soda - for $8.99, a dollar less than I was charged before tax. My fault for not asking for the special, huh? Dickish, if you ask me. Way to generate that repeat business. The menu indicates the availability of Chinese dishes as well, but I saw no sign of those. It also states "Come check out our full sushi menu!", but I'm not clear where one is supposed to do that, as the paper menu was the only one on offer. Perhaps it requires psychic powers to perceive and understand the true scope of the menu. In summary, I doubt I'll go back. I have no problem driving a significant distance for good deli, which is not what I found under this roof. I would need to be having a serious jones for corned beef products to entertain the idea of being overcharged and underserved here again. Sorry guys; you may be Glatt, but you're pretty fucking far from Gourmet. read more

I my self am not a Jew but i have been around, and can tell you first hand that this palaces food tastes home made. it is on my way home and i have been in there a number of times. and i have enjoyed all i have ever gotten from there. read more
