This is the closest laundromat to my place. The first few times I went, it was friendly and not too busy. In recent visits however, the staff has been horrible, rude and unfriendly. 1) I put an empty soup container into a bin marked as a place to put them, it rolled down and fell on the ground making a noise. The worker came out of the backroom and yelled at me saying not to through those in the regular trash. I explained what happened and did not get an "I'm sorry, or my bad" nothing. 2) If you ask a question about something, you are met with rudeness and looks as if you are the dumbest person on earth for asking a question. 3) I was waiting for my dry cycle to end, had 2 minutes left, and was told to wait outside, the place was not busy, I was not blocking anything or anybody and when I mentioned I only had a few minutes I was told it does not matter and I had to go outside. The owners know they are the only place in the area to get laundry done, so they could care less how they treat their customers. read more

Horrible, horrible experience. Absolutely beyond rude person working there, who pointed to signs and huffed, instead of answering questions. And wow....were there signs. NO sitting inside, NO sorting, No folding, No drying without washing. Had to buy a $4 rfid card just to use the token dispenser. We only needed to dry our clothes, because the dryer at our rental was not working. But we had to waste 3-1/2 hours (counting driving time) of our vacation, and about $20, re-washing and then drying 1 load of laundry, due to the policies of this place. A decent laundromat, with non-hostile employees, would make a TON of $$, here on the Kona coast. Just a suggestion, to any entrepreneur out there. read more

First time at a laundry mat was shocked that I couldn't fold my laundry inside on the table they had provided or sit on the bench and wait for my laundry to be done. I had to sit in my car while I waited but then when I came back in people were rushing to get my things out of the washer machine the second it was complete. Would have been convenient if I could have sat inside and waited so no one was touching my things. read more

We wanted to wash and dry slipcovers for two very large chairs and a sofa. Clearly we did not want to try doing all that in our own washer/dryer. I noticed a lot of one-star ratings about rudeness. I also noted almost all of those were not locals, buy vacationers not used to Hawaiian ways. We live here and found the ladies helpful and friendly, but also enforcers of the rules. The facility is neat. clean, and feels safe. This is largely due to the ladies enforcing the rules. We made some rookie mistakes and we learned some lessons on the machines the hard way, but when it was finished we were in and out in about 90 minutes with sparkling slipcovers. Now that we know the ropes, we'll be in and out in an hour. We had not washed those in five years, but given the more or less painless experience at a reasonable price, we're going to do them annually. read more

These people are rude and covid crazy! It's 2024 and they still won't let people fold their laundry inside. Over 40' of beautiful folding tables wasted... They made us fold our laundry in the rain, in the oil stained parking lot with 2 small kids running around. read more

I don't have anything bad to say about KC Washerette. Coin laundries are places we take for granted, as we don't need them until we NEED them. My dryer went down a few weeks ago, and not wanting to impose on family members to use their machines, I just took my stuff to KC Washerette. The first time, I had washed my clothes at home, and took them there to dry. This is not allowed, which I didn't know at the time. The lady was really nice though and let me dry my things. The next time I went back. I washed and dried there. Coin laundries are pretty similar no matter where you go. It's a place whose entire existence is based on cleanliness and making things clean, yet you always feel they are a little bit dirty. Here is no exception. Not to worry though, albeit this place has been around for a long time, it's as clean as you'd like. No problems. Machines are cashless, you get a reloadable card from the counter, then put however much money you want onto it. Washers cost more than dryers, and you can just put enough on for what you need to use. The dryers go in .25 increments, so it's easy to not overload the card. The washers are basic yet effective. The dryers work great, and dry super fast. I wish my home dryer could dry a load in a half an hour like these ones can. My dryer is fixed now, so I won't be going back to KC Washerette for what I'm hoping to be a while. However, when I need to again, I'm glad to know they will be there- as they always are. read more

Don't even bother stopping. RUDE STAFF. Half the MACHINES WERE BROKEN, trying to find a dryer the attendant stopped us saying very rudely "you going get that in now? last wash is at 6." Things I learned from my visit: 1-CASH ONLY. I mistakenly thought that since you had to load a card to use the machines, I could use my debit card for that. If you are in a cash emergency (like me!), there is an ATM at the gas station down the road. 2-I came with 1-2 regular-sized loads to wash (just needed to freshen up our hiking clothes). I wish I would have gotten the large $5 machine instead of the medium $3.50 because I would have been able to wash everything I brought. However, those machines get taken quickly. 3-You will need $4 just to get a card for the machine and additional cash to add to the card in order to wash/dry. So, make sure you come with at LEAST $10. The $4 you pay is NOT loaded onto the card--it's just a deposit to use the card. You will get $3 + whatever's left on the card back before you leave. 4-iIf buying detergent from the Wash, you can either get a full cup for $1 or a half cup. The $1 cup is enough for one large load or two smaller. I overbought as did another person, so you might find extra detergent laying around for the taking if you are lucky. 5-It will take 3-4 cycles in the dryer to get your large load dry. 6- In retrospect, because I was washing so little, I wish I would have opted to leave my laundry to be washed. It's $1/lb with a $10 minimum. I didn't spend that much doing it myself, but time is money when you are on vacation! read more

The people are very helpful and nice. You need to buy a cash card for $4. Afterwards you load the card in $1 increments. A wash is $2.25, the dryer $0.25 per 4 minutes. They buy back your card if you don't need it any longer at current balance plus $3 (yes, you loose a buck on the card). The mashines are old-ish and some are broken or reserved for staff use. However, they do their job and cleanly wash and dry your stuff. Make sure to keep an eye on your stuff. There are cameras everywhere, but the owner advises everybody to be alert. Good advaice, there are so many people, including tourists. So if anybody grabs the wrong load, you might not see your stuff again. There is a small dog (her name is Girly) running around, so be advised if you are alergic or don't like dogs. But she is harmless and likes people. The place is hard to find by address only. We passed it with the card three times! Just look for Dandy's Drive In or the Western Union sign... The washerette is about 50 or 60 yards offset from the road and only visible from a right angle (90°) from the road. When driving at the legal speed limit it's impossible to see. read more

Worst sevice....ever I came in with my clothes that I washed at home wash my hands like the sign said then threw my clothes in the dryer stuck my card in paid the money then the man came over and told me that I couldn't dry my clothes unless I washed them there had I not seen the sign so I offered to pay the price of washing my clothes in one of his washing machines and he said no I asked if you would let it go this one time since I didn't see the sign he said no so now I'm sitting outside for a half hour waiting for my clothes to wash for a second time before I could repay the money for the dryer that I got ripped off and he wouldn't return my money from the dryer worst service ever wasn't willing to work with me one bit wasted $10 I would definitely not go read more

I love this place. Very clean and sanitary, great new machines and the owners are kind and thoughtful. Always machines available as well.

We had a great experience at the K.C. Washerette. We were the last ones there that night. The man working was very kind and helped us out with some washing supplies. He also refunded us our money for the machine card without any questions. There was a $4 deposit for the card but was returned when we returned the card. I would recommend this laundromat. read more

Things to know when visiting. This is a cash only facility and they use a machine card. You must wash and dry. You can't just dry your laundry which makes it hard on those who only need to dry. I just wanted to dry my laundry and was basically chewed out by the the person sitting behind the desk. What made this whole event interesting was how he even showed us a video. I used to love this laundry mat but the last three times I have done laundry here the lady working is so Rude. The end machine in front doesn't work in hot but no sign...when told her she didn't care no offer to repay for wash with no water. I am going back into Kona, although more people the service makes all the difference. read more

The new person working came over and told me to take half out, the machine was making noise. She said they just replaced the drums and was very rude. Needed to do some laundry while on vacation a few months back. As this was closest to my hotel, I decided to go here. I read the reviews in advance and noted how you purchase a card from the attendant behind the counter. Once you're done you return it for a partial refund of the deposit. You do lose a dollar of the deposit, but that sounded acceptable to me. The deposit you pay does not include any credit to use on washers which you pay additional and is loaded onto the card. On arrival, I noted the guy behind the counter was quite unfriendly and observed him yelling at people for seemingly little or no reason. Once I was finished my laundry, I went back up to the counter and politely requested a refund of the credit left on the card, as well wanting to return the card for the partial deposit on it. The same guy behind the counter acted like he had no idea what I was talking about at first saying the card was mine to keep. Then I was told I could turn it in, but there would be no payout (remainder of deposit or remaining credit). I politely stood my ground and after an awkward minute or so, he relented and gave me the full amount I was owed back. I don't know what the deal was, it did not seem like a misunderstanding but more like a cash grab on the deposit or an attempt to get me to hand over the card with credit left on it. read more
