This is the nearest (only?) laundromat with oversized washers and dryers big enough to wash my mattress pad and rugs.The staff are kind and helpful. However, a lot of the machines are out of order and so were all of the change machines when I was there last, so the staff had to give quarters. read more

Everything is broken. Over crowded. Only on in Kona. If you are lucky enough to get a washer. You have no hope in a dryer. So be prepared to take your clothes home wet. read more

Was on vacation and need to desperately get some laundry done before a flight the next day to the next island. So glad I found Tyke's! I got there at 6pm and typically they wouldn't allow to start laundry at that time given the close at 7pm. However the manager was extremely kind and let me get my laundry done. The staff was very friendly and Nanita was chatting to me and I didn't even feel the time go. I was there almost till 7:30pm drying my clothes but no one rushed me or told me to hurry up. What a wonderful place and thank you for being patient with me so I could get the laundry done! Highly recommend! read more

I went to Tyke's for their wash and fold services. They did a great job with my wife and my clothes. Even pretreated for some stains. Price was fair and our clothes were ready for pickup when promised. If I'm ever back on the Big Island, I'll be sure to use Tyke's for my laundry again. read more

The place is filthy - floors are stained everywhere, everything looked dirty, cluttered with so much and so many machines broken!

We went there and had a lot of laundry to do, there were only a couple of carts available but they said for attendant only so no cart available to use . Lots of machines said out of service but noticed that the attendants just put out of order signs so they had them to use so we had to cram all of our laundry into 2 dryers and it took an hour to dry. We went to several other laundry mats in the area and Tyke's had more machines, an attendant there to help and answer any questions. She was very kind and responsive in our questions. She kept the place very clean. The price was a good price. We have 6 kids plus my husband and I, so 8 peoples laundry for 5 days. And 3 of those days are beach days. So big loads. When in Kona next, we will definitely use Tyke's Laundromat again. read more

This is a review of their DRY CLEANING service. While dry cleaning is available at this laundromat, it is actually the Kona DROP OFF location for A Personal Touch dry cleaning service, which is located in Hilo. Location shares the space with Tyke's Laundromat, and drop off hours are in line with Tyke's Laundromat (M, Tu, W, F, Sa 7 am - 9 pm ; Su, Th 6 am - 9 pm). When calling to inquire about price estimates, the person tells me that I should call the number for A Personal Touch in Hilo (808-934-8788), since that is where the clothing piece will be cleaned. Spoke to the manager of the Hilo location, he was very friendly and helpful with estimating charges. On drop off, there was no one behind the counter, but we were quickly helped by a friendly staff member. Drop off was easy and seamless. Simply leave your name and phone number and they give you a ticket for pick up. We dropped off on a Thursday, and pick up was estimated to be Monday. Our pick up was ready when it was supposed to be. Just be sure to have your receipt/ticket handy. The quality of the cleaning was excellent. Pricing is also fair. If you don't mind waiting for your clothes making a round trip to Hilo, I would recommend this service. read more

One of the nicest laundromat I've ever been in! Owner was so sweet giving us tips on local beaches and things to do. We literally chatted the whole time and it really didn't feel like I was washing my clothes! Just chit chatting away....she had a variety of soaps and dryer sheets of choice you could buy if you needed it. Very clean place. Hot water in washing machines. Hot dryers. They even had hot coffee for you while you wait!!! Was about an mile away from our hotel. It's hidden so make sure you drive around the back to find it!!! You won't be disappointed! read more

HORRIBLE! I LET IT GO BEFORE, but I'm so frustrated, I just opened our laundry because we drop off. Literally I have two of my favorite shirts that got ruined by their unprofessionalism by mixing bleach WITH MY BLACK SHIRTS. Mind you, I know that I don't use bleach on my black shirts and most of my shirts are black. THEY SOMEHOW GOTTEN BLEACH ON THREE OF MY SHIRTS, I threw my two shirts away because there is no point of having it, I usually am not one to complain but seriously ? Use to be a decent place to have your laundry done,or at least til they lose some of your belongings,then they treat you like they don't know you,they used to do my weekly laundry,you pay for a service,then they tell you to supply them with the laundry soap, They lose something that you bring them,like my $50 shirt,and nothing ever gets done about it. Just to let you know I've been going to them for mths,not anymore,they lose something and there demeanor goes out the door,oh well my business went out the door and five others stopped going there for there services read more

Used their wash dry fold service. Everything went smooth with pick up and drop off. All my clothes were there and perfectly folded!

You can bring your laundry and they wash and fold for you within 3 - 4 hours. Great stuff while you are on vacation. They charge by pound with a 10 lbs minimum. read more

Lots of machines out of order until end of December 2017. Only place we found to do laundry. So it worked out ok.

I like the self-service laundromat- easy to use and competitive price compared to across the street. But - I used the drop off service to get my uniform shirts cleaned and pressed, and was charged $7.00 per shirt! Outrageous considering I paid $2.00 per shirt on the mainland. I guess you charge whatever you want when there's no competition. read more

If you're on vacation in Kona why would you even bother to do your own washing? Much better to leave it with these lovely ladies who do a great job, this is the only service laundromat where I've had every single one of my shirts returned to me crease free on a wire hanger. Tyke's was a good find. I found the attendant full of Aloha - she assisted me in finding my way among the many machines. The down side to Tyke's is the lack of comfortable seating. There's a TV but it's mounted near the machines and not near the seating. Please note that Hawaii is expensive - so drying a bedspread takes of lot of quarters (2 minutes for $0.25). I went through at least $10 - $12 in quarters trying to get it dry. That's on top of the $8 to wash it - I needed the largest washer they had. The "queen" sized washers are $5. I will use them in the future as needed - though I have my own washer/dryer when I stay in Kailua Kona. I really wish they had Wi-Fi since that would have made my 2 1/2 hour trip there more pleasant. However, they are right next door to Killer Taco which was a great place to grab my lunch! read more

Basic laundromat Get there early though as they "run out of hot water." If you don't mind cold water wash, no worries then.

Love the Tyke's over in Hilo; love the one in Kona just as well. Give me a regular washerette where you can JUST dry your clothes if you need; where the machines still take quarters and the people who work there are friendly. read more

This is probably the best service that I've had in my whole life. We stayed at Seaside kona hotel and had to wash our beach wear and towels. We did not have cash and the hotel staff did not really help us take a credit line for 10$ despite us paying over 700$ in room charges. We rushed to the nearest laundromat which was tyke's hoping that we could get quarters with a credit card ( silly us for not bringing our debit card) , but the laundromat manager was very kind in offering us change and allowing us to use the washer dryer even though it was almost closing time. We tried to pay him back a while later and he was too nice to accept. This review is for the good person who helped us out. There are not too many kind, nice business managers who are willing to take a cut just to help another human being. read more

We used the laundry service here while visiting the island as our resort did not have a facility for guests to use, just laundry services at crazy high prices. We were very pleased to drop off our bag in the morning and pick it up cleaned, dried and folded that same evening. There is a minimum weight for the service & they only take cash. It would be no stars, but, yelp won't allow it. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE. 90% of the machines are broken. The detergent machine is broken. The change machine is broken, & when you ask the laundry nazi for change she acts like she is doing you a favor. I once said to her if she doesn't like her job she should quit, I think she loves being nasty to people(very sad) Also she will stand over you & count how many items you are placing in machine, then proceed to yell that you're adding too many. The dryers are 3 minutes for .25 cents,but they NEVER remove the lint from dryers so it takes forever & many,many, many quarters. Their dry cleaning is NOT done on these premises, it's done in Hilo. Had them do three shirts of mine & the one w/ the CHANEL label,I am sorry to say, never made it home(surprise,surprise). Of course, it wasn't their fault, even though THEY walked it out of the place. On a last note, if you are prone to mold allergies like me, as you're standing there your nose WILL run like a sieve. Avoid @ all costs. Try the laundromat down the road, behind the dolphin spit bar. I dont know why people give this place bad rep the people that work here especially the old filipina lady is super helpful and nice its a little hard to find as you'd have to drive to get up here but its clean and fast when they took my clothes for laundry and fold they did it in 4 hours it was awesome as i was staying at the fairmont i had to drive here for almost an hour (hawaiian roads) but then your in kona so there are a lot of things to do killer tacos next door and if you go down to kona theres brewery and all the good stuff. read more
