Having suffered a dramatic neck injury at the age of 27, my life was filled with pain from waking to sleep. As a rancher and mother of 8, I had no time to give in to the pain but pushed through each day, taking so much aspirin and pain reliever that my blood ran like water with even a tiny scratch. Prior to receiving treatment from Dr. Reeves, I was informed by the orthopedist I was seeing for right shoulder pain that his treatment plan would begin with steroid injections to manage the pain. However, he said these injections would eventually destroy the cartilage in my shoulder leading to the need for a shoulder replacement. Obviously, this was not a very attractive treatment option for me. When I spoke to Dr. Reeves, he told me that prolotherapy would not damage my cartilage but rather stabilize the cartilage surface and help the shoulder move more normally but calming or repairing irritated tendons, ligaments and nerves about the shoulder, reducing the possibility of needing a shoulder replacement. This was a much more appealing treatment plan. The first time I met with Dr. Reeves, I was struck by the thoroughness of the exam. He began by examining my range of motion and which movements caused pain. He then, using subtle pressure with his finger and thumb, asked me to let him know when I felt any pain. In the end, this proved not to be necessary, because once he applied pressure he would say "this spot probably irritates you but this one doesn't." Remarkably, he was accurate 100% of the time. He then used a marker to map where to place the injections. Before the prolotherapy treatment began he asked me if I would like to pray. Admittedly, I was shocked, in a good way, by this option, because I had never before been given this option by a medical professional. Kind of wish this practice would become more common. Because prolotherapy involves using needles to inject natural substances into different tissues, I was stuck by how little discomfort was involved in this procedure until I reminded myself that Dr. Reeves specialty is pain management and he is extremely good at this. At the completion of the treatment, I had increased range of motion and an obvious reduction in pain. However, the elegance of prolotherapy is that the real healing occurs in the weeks and months following treatment. In addition to working on my right shoulder, Dr. Reeves, in subsequent appointments, has treated my left shoulder and both knees. As a result of my positive experience of being a patient of Dr. Reeves, I refer all my friends and acquaintances, dealing with chronic pain, to him. This is easy to do because Dr. Reeves processes all the traits of a true healer. He is companionate, humble, patient, smart and honest. One reviewer described him as a saint. A description I can't disagree with. He truly loves what he does and I am always stuck each time I met him by how much he has learned since the last time we met. Dr. Reeves is an amazing doctor. My very first appointment was so embarrassing for me. I literally could not sit down for more than about 30 seconds. The pain in my back, legs, feet, knees...I wanted to cry. He was doing my consultation and I finally laid on my stomach across the bed in the room. Apologizing because I am facing the floor, talking to him, answering his questions, in between the stabbing pain that was firing off in my body. When I stood...I was unable to stand up straight. Dr. Reeves did not say anything other than, "I understand", I am going to help you. For the first time in over 10 years the words I needed finally landed. "I am going to help you." Dr. Reeves is humble, gentle, intelligent, and his precision is not anything I have experienced before. I am still seeing him for treatment, and I know there will come a day that I will not "need" too, but I will still send emails, cards of gratitude. It was refreshing to hear him say, "Can we pray" before he began my first treatment. How nice to be in the presence of an expert that knows he doesn't have all the answers. That he needs god to guide him with his patients. I have never experienced that before, but am thankful to have this experience every time I meet with him. Dr. Reeves is a born healer. I can't say enough about Dr. Reeves and his staff. Prolotherapy has been around for about 50 years, but it is not widely known about in conventional medical practice. I see Dr. Reeves for bilateral adult hip dysplasia and general hypermobility syndrome. My ligaments are loose and don't offer as much protection to my joints as your average bear. Prolotherapy can help tighten ligaments and support your joints so they don't become painful. If they are already painful, "prolo' can ease pain and even help treat the nerves involved. Dr. Reeves is an expert in the field of pain management. He has more knowledge of ligaments, muscles and nerve systems than other doctors I've seen. By simply touching affected areas, he can make sense of them, explain why they exist and how he's going to treat them. He's super compassionate, makes the treatment as close to pain-free as possible (ok, it IS injection therapy), and he explains everything he does as he goes. He's the real deal. Prolotherapy is proven safe and effective and will hopefully postpone or even eliminate my need for a hip replacment. After 2 sessions, I have seen quantifiable improvement and I have been able to go back to my favorite exercise activities with much less pain. In addition to my hip issues, Dr. Reeves found more imbalances in my knees and ankles that were no doubt making my main problems worse. His evaluation process is thorough and makes you feel secure and comfortable with expectations for treatment. His medical staff- Janice, Rhonda and Kris- are also super nice and very caring, which makes the whole process really pleasant! Dr. Reeves is a talented and unique doctor to who I give the highest recommendations. I have struggled with pelvic and hip pain, specifically nerve tension and pain for over 2 years. My injuries potentially stem from an unsuccessful hip labrum tear/impingement removal surgery (traction specifically within surgery may have caused some damage) which provoked all the nerves in my pelvic to go into chaos. My sacral, sciatic, pudendal, perineal, and obturator nerves have been fighting against me. All of this dysfunction affects my muscles, alignment, and general nervous system function. I found Dr. Reeves a little over a year ago and am at least 50% better because of his treatments today. I wish I found him at the onset of my symptoms, but I am blessed to have him on my team now. Healing nerve damage/pain is a long journey, and a very tough one. Not many doctors are trained to understand, diagnose, and heal injuries such as mine.
