The main thing for me was to find a decent swimming pool in Dublin; finally I came to the Westmanstown to find out a new place, with a great gym and a nice pool, tennis courts, and car park. The place is clean, it has the gym with a 200 metres track, equipment to do weights, basketball, badminton, and many other activities pitch. Swimming lessons, aqua aerobics and so on. This place will be definitely the best of what you could get in Dublin 15 (even with the NAC being in the area). The Sports are not well supported in this country, and it is a pity that all people see is the money aspect of the disciplines. There should be more support from the government to create better athletes and a healthier society. The prices to join the Crunch are the same as anywhere else if you compare here you will get value for your money, you might get cheaper places but you will end up paying more because the place is not clean or the service is bad as well as the facilities you will get won't be the same. Nothing will be perfect all the time, of course something will go wrong someday, like water being cold or a power cut, but every time something happened I was well looked after. A family place for excellence, here kids are aloud and there is activities for them as well, the time is restricted which is ok. I really recommend it if you have children, go there and have a look, the staff will show you around all the facilities. I went specifically for the pool and was impressed. The pool was clean, the water kept at a proper temperature for lap swimming, lifeguards attentive to making sure people stay in the right lanes based on ability, and the room is vented appropriately with fresh air. I also liked that the locker and changing room was clean and tidy. I kept my belongings in a locker safely while I swam and then was able to have a hot shower after my training. The one main thing I wish was different is the membership fee. From what was explained to me I have to either pay as I come (6 euro per swim as an adult) or join for the year. I don't want an annual membership at this time, so I have to pay the drop in price. I would join for a month at a time rate if one was available and fair.

Bowling is decent enough though. The lanes have been kept in a good condition and if you're in a group of people works out okay in terms of price. Have to give them credit though, they have some great deals for family nights out and even events for the Blanchardstown Centre staff, during the week and weekends. Deals with the likes of Dantes Pizza nearby or even a BYOB night with bowling for the staff.

The National Aquatic Centre contains the only public 50-meter swimming pool in Dublin, and is only…read moreone of three 50-meter pools in the country (at the time of writing the only others are the University of Limerick and Westwood Clontarf, which is members-only... UCD is still in production). It was initially opened in 2003 but closed after only 18 months to have the roof fixed, which was completed in 2005. The main pool comes with a moveable floor so they can shorten the pool to a 25-meter pool with a two separate pools, one for diving. The complex also includes a kids' pool (Aquazone Waterpark) with slides and an on-site gym and cafe. There is room for about 2,500 spectators as well in an impressive viewing gallery. If I was to describe the quality of the pool when extended to the full 50-meters and when it's not too busy? Abso-feckin-unbelievable (that's a word... right?!). If you've never swum in a 50-meter pool you should do it immediately! I unfortunately live a fair bit away so only get to the pool once every few months and for a pool-based triathlon each year (Fingal Sprint, held in May), but it's well worth the trip and I've never been disappointed! I would STRONGLY recommend however to phone the centre before you go, because a LOT of clubs and competitions use this pool and also it's not always extended to the full 50-meters; try and go at off-peak times with the full distance available, and you're bound to come out smiling!

However, the kids were here for the Aquazone. I was pleasantly surprised by the Aquazone, it wouldn't compare to water parks on the continent, but my Irish standards it does pretty well. The changing rooms and pool areas are all very clean. The changing area is communal with lots of cubicals, so makes it easier when you have kids with you. The main attractions for younger kids are a wave pool, lazy river and a pirate ship with a few small slides. Then for the slightly bigger and braver kids there are three flumes and a "flow rider" (a large stream of water you can surf or bodyboard on, great fun). The three flumes are very good, each one it quite different, so nice bit of variety. My niece loved the flumes, running up to me after going on the Dark Hole flume "that was TERRIFYING........... I'm going again!", I thought the entrance fee was about right; Adult €14, child €12 (3 & under free) and family €46 (2 adult & 2 child). You can stay as long as you want, but the ticket is single entry. It is much cheaper at off-peak times, however, a lot of the attraction will not be operating.

I decided to wait a day or two to write this review. Aside from the fact that my body has stopped…read moreaching enough to pick up a pen ;-), I wanted to think about my experience here properly and rate it accordingly. The reason I wanted to take care is that this is the first Bikram studio in Ireland I have visited, and originally thought that perhaps my comparisons with other countries may not be fair. However, upon reflection, I think my initial reaction was right. The studio is based all the way out the back of Maynooth Business Campus. It's quite difficult to find, so if you are on your way there, just keep on going all the way to the back. This facility however, is my major gripe. It is a business park, so most of the spaces have obviously been designed as offices etc. I have seen spaces like this converted before into fantastic studios, however, this is most certainly not one of them. There is a nice reception area with fresh towels, yoga mats etc, but things go downhill from here. The changing room reminded me of one you'd see in public pools or school gyms. Hooks on the walls and long benches are all that is provided to store your stuff, so everyone just leaves their bags / clothes / shoes strewn on the benches. There is only one toilet inside, despite there being at least 30 women in there at one time last night. There is a second toilet, however you have to literally walk outside of the studio and reception area into the external building to get to it. There are three showers I think, but again, don't look particularly inviting. Onto the main gripe - the studio. It's carpeted. So wrong in a hot yoga facility in my opinion. The carpet means that the place absolutely stinks when you go into it. In fairness, you forget about the smell pretty quickly, but it really hits you when you go in first. There doesn't seem to be any air circulation, just huge fan heaters blasting out sickly smelling air. Yes, Bikram is all about heat, but the air also needs to circulate so as to ensure bad air isn't constantly being kept inside. I'm not sure on the technical aspects of how this is done, but I have never seen space heaters like this in a yoga space. Good points were the markings on the carpet making it easy to get aligned and completely mirrored walls. The teacher was also great (which is most of the battle). Overall, because of the facilities in which the practice occurs, the general vibe in here was far from relaxed, and to be honest, I couldn't wait to get out.

The playground is out of this world. There is also a skate park and lots of walking paths. It is a wonderful area. If you're driving, there is ample parking in the parking lot and by bus, I think you can take bus 37 or 39 (towards Ongar) from Dublin. I believe there is a stop right by the park. Also, this park has a sandpit, so bring your shovel and bucket! You can see the huge castle slide from the road and your kids will love the zip line! It's a very cool park.

We've been…read morestaying at Crown Plaza Hotel for 8 weeks with two small kids and this park pretty much saved my sanity lol I wish I knew that it has great jogging trail I would have brought my gear. The play ground is great and it's perfect place to wear out your kids. It has stuff for big kids and play set for toddlers, obstacle course and a big double sandbox and a zip line!. There are toilets on play ground they rarely have toilet paper or soap but at lest bathrooms are there. There is a skate park and areas to play ball. Also there is a dog park, sadly we have no pets but it looks nice a big from afar. And everything pretty well taken care of. I definitely recommend this park!
