The list would be never ending essentially. They have really nice staff too, always willing to help out and everybody that comes here just seems down to earth. They hold classes here for different activities and there's always something on, there's always a buzz about the halls but as you get into the gym part upstairs, it's very regularly nice and quiet. Only on the rarest of occasions will you ever be waiting on machine, treadmill, or anything else they have here. The Weights is a slightly different story however. With weights you gotta wait around from time to time simply just because of the floor space. The only two issues for me I guess is, that the equipment is a little outdated and worn out. Don't get me wrong, everything works fine but you get the feeling that it's old, that over the years it's gone through a lot of damage, wear and tear. Floor space is also a little constricted in the actual gym. Sauna is great, seems to always be working, steam room too, and jacuzzi. Pool however is a little more difficult to access as there seem to be a lot of lessons on, on a regular basis. Never been a full member of a gym before so don't have a whole lot to compare it to I guess, but we shall wait and see it the three starts will be brought up to four!

They close the music all the time. If we request to put music she saying music is not included in the gym fees. Also the securty man over there behavior is so rude . when we parking, he is using bad behavior all time. he using bad language even with old ladies. So the customer service is really bad there. Not recommned family pepole.

Caution, only PULL review…read more This is my Go-To swimming pool with my 3 year old. The good: * Changing area (cabins) has been fully rebuilt * Staff is great, they let children play and have fun (not like in Fantasia where my 16 year old bother had been asked to leave the small six people jacuzzi (how stupid is that?) * They have slides open every 45 minutes or so (during weekends only) * Very warm showers, almost like Japanese baths * There's sauna * Toddler's pull area * The price €7 per adult and kids under 3 years are for free then it's €4 * Plenty of lockers that are at the pull area, so if you need anything to grab, it's right there (just have your own padlock) * Underground car park (€1 token, unlimited stay) * Vending machines with swimming gear * Spectator area that is accessible without paying for the entrance The bad: * Slides are open only during weekend This is how good it is. Pull is clean, kids and parents are all friendly.

Also if you're coming along for a private swim try to come after the lessons are over because although there is a lane for private swimming it is often full up of other children and mums and dads so no lane swimming is possible at that time. The sauna and steamroom are ok but again can be quite busy and full of people waiting for the children to leave. But on a day when you go with no lessons its quite a nice pool and much better than the old dark pongy pool that used to be the Ballymun swimming pool by the old shopping center. The changing room is all unisex and smells quite badly whenever I'm there and the toilets need cleaning more regularly.

Since they introduced the Keiser Spin bike in 2015 I have increased my Power/Watts/FTP by over 33% in less than a year (spin class watts was 200/220 Watts now 330/353 Watts per 45 min spin class) with a max Keiser display calorie burn of 800 - 880+ per 45 min spin class, I have learned how to recover in a very high tempo while on the road by using the spin classes. Every time I think I have peaked and it's impossible to get any more power I get a new number :) and because it's the gym it's not weather permitting and more consistent in the winter months which gives a better output for the new year as I can keep an eye on my levels in the spin classes. I Unknown to the instructors use different instructors for different aspects of my training for cycling, Katarina - technique(which gets extra watts for the same effort) and heart/cadence/power zones, Dave, Ryan and Mauraid - Power with huge watts for long periods(The Hurt House Class, help me to hurt others on the road), Alan - Cadence with Power Training, this proves it was within me to improve, I just needed someone to kick my ass pushing me to my limits while training to get me there, and while on the road cycling, I amaze myself with my well earned gains and I do say to myself while raising my bidon "CHEERS one escape", my only complaint is the spin room could be a bit colder and maybe a little more technical as I know the training staff have the latest know how to be, their list of qualifications go on and on" IMPRESSIVE". The gym equipment WOW, plenty & the variety is huge, you won't be waiting, EVER. Swimming pool, Sauna, Steam Room(probably the best in Dublin) and Jacuzzi are all excellent. A big plus is the management are very approachable & do listen, which is an art lost in modern times with businesses and their customers. I have been in this gym for many years so I know that the people who own it, reinvest and give me the impression they adapt to its customers as I do get the impression the P.T. make the decisions on the classes, so it's a case of the people who are in the know are making the decisions, I make this comment strictly from observation and experience. I know I am NOT a member of a one hit wonder. As far as the cost goes you have to ask yourself the question, do you want a hostel or the shelbourne hotel, at what level of fitness do you want to get, are you happy with being fit or do you want to be super fit, one escape gets 5* from me. Yes it's more expensive than the rest but when I look at my gains, "WELL WORTH IT" and an investment in my future health, my resting HR is now 45-50 at 43, it used to be in the 70's in the days of bad diet, smoking 30-60 a day and no exercise with XXL clothing in my early 30's and the belief on bad health, sure it only happens to everyone else. It's future is an ICON for Dublin, and a standard that other health clubs/gyms can only strive to try and achieve. If anyone knows of a better gym in Dublin I would like to know where it is because I have been around jumping in and out of them in Dublin city and I can't find one. Sure they get things wrong and make mistakes, the gym and staff aren't perfect but they are getting by far more things right than wrong.

Those who pay the bills? Each time I've come in here, I've had one gripe or another. Either they are too busy chatting amongst themselves to say hello or goodbye, or they're just not super arsed in being friendly. I get that they're busy, but this is not a cheap gym by any stretch of the imagination so it would be nice to be received with a bit more courtesy. I arrived today at 1.42pm to register for spinning class at 2pm. They say that registration opens 15 mins before each class, so despite being there and ready to go, the receptionist turned to another spinner and I telling us we'd have to wait to register. Now this isn't some high tech scenario on a computer that literally doesn't open til the set time - it's jotting your name down on a piece of paper. I would like to say in full disclosure that the receptionist was tending to someone else at the time, but if she had enough time to turn to us and tell us we'd have to wait til quarter to for signing our name, surely she'd have had enough time to pass us the registration paper. Thankfully which is what another staff member did, once he heard the comment from his colleague. It took him about 0.2 seconds to pass us the sheet. A bit of common sense wouldn't go astray in situations like this. I'm still a major fan of this gym and most of the staff so far have been great, but it would be great if there was a bit less of a "Computer Says Noooooo" attitude in here (What an episode that was!)

As a person that LOVES to swim, I am always looking for pools to swim in while on vacation…read more(especially full size, aka not a mini hotel pool). I found the Sean McDermott Street Swimming Pool and it is a 25 meter pool. For an adult it cost me 7.5 euros. I went during the school year so at 12:30 PM there were school children taking lessons during this time. There are only 3 lanes and the kids used 2. I had the lane to myself for about 30 minutes and then when another swimmer arrived we had to circle swim. On the ladies side, they do have a completely open changing area and shower area with 4 heads. The shower area has a sign that states "please refrain from removing swim wear while showering." There are 3 private toilet stalls. There are tons of lockers to put your stuff in which are located right on the pool deck. The entire facility is clean with nice life guards and staff to check you in.

Ok we know it's not a prime location, it's a bit of a rough area but I've never felt insecure in there. It just looks horrible inside. I didn't find it clean... or welcoming. That, with the fact that it was only occupied with kids the 2 times I gave it a go (one in the evening, one in the afternoon, my mistake !) That said, it's cheap and located just 10-15min walk from O'Connell. Just a note as well that they are only open on saturday to the public now.

Westwood gym asks (approximately) €600 per year + membership joining fee of €100 (used to be back in 2011). Where Northwood was €250 per year + 2 or 4 months for free. Northwood gave us small towels and their branded sports bags. Isn't that grate? Yes it is (I should stop talking to myself) :) ! This gym is quite newly built. Very spacious. Guess what? No kids, well, very little if none. We were in Total Fitness once and my missus was shocked... Loads of kids of six seven years old with bloody mommies in the ladies changing rooms... Kill me now :) Gyms has lots of stuff: more than basic equipment, various classes, men and women have separate "warm up" areas with different equipment, two saunas, two steam rooms, 25 meter pool, jacuzzis (lying and sitting). I'll be going there when possible!

Yes there are all the same weight lifting stuff if you are in to that sort of thing, but there are more types of cross trainers, muscle builders and the likes. There are classes in Aerobics, Abs, Pilates, etc held in there 2 studios.... And they are all FREE! And for the best part, after you have killed all your muscles you can then proceed to the Jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and swimming pool. I don't go near swimming pools but it looks pretty ordered if you want to swim in lanes or just random paddling. Jervis has all you need for a gym workout but Northwood is far superior with the added bonuses.

Hotel/hotel group management practice the most awful customer service. I raised these issues with senior management by e-mail weeks ago and was told he would take my comments on board. I doubt he even read what I sent. I think that it shows a complete lack of respect for the customer to not deal with complaints adequately and not to listen. I had an issue with Virgin Atlantic once regarding a flight and the response was speedy and apologetic. I would fly with them again in an instant and recommend them to friends. The Regency hotel group management obviously don't care and really don't deserve your money or my recommendation. The thing that makes it a difficult review is that the staff and management within the gym are really excellent and so friendly (they learn your name!). They deserve to keep their jobs so hopefully the gym membership will remain large enough. The hotel management could learn from them.
