It's time to get your groove on and be hip to K Squared Winery, in Windsor, CA. The flight started with a vibrant crisp, knock your socks off, Sauvignon Blanc..perfectly balanced to put you in chill mode where you stop and realize you need to relax. The next taste was a still Rose of Pinot Noir, with notes of I think I really like this...you sip, you continue to chill and then you go into the CAB LOVERS Pinot Noir, at this point you realize there's no stopping you from going from A to Z..you just don't care...I did brush my hair..and then the 4th taste is a killer Zinfandel, which you might slur one of your words but it's all good..you're so relaxed you feel like you're on holiday somewhere in France or Italy; maybe Spain, but so what..the fifth and topper taste of Cabernet, will have you indulging in getting up as though you're on the dance floor and at this point you know you're into the groove and there's no stopping. A friend of mine had been here before and was excited to bring us to K Squared Cellars. It turns out they were closed that day but Andrew was kind enough to squeeze us in that day. He had a big event later that day to prepare for so we made sure to stop by earlier in the day. We called ahead to make sure it was okay to bring a small and simple picnic with us. Andrew had us try seven wines, some in pairs so that we could compare them to one another. For example we tried a rose with effervescence and one that didn't have any bubbles at the same time in order to compare the two. Surprisingly we preferred one more when pared with food and the other when sampled without food. The same happened with the zinfandel and cabernet sauvignon. While they are not the same varietals, we enjoyed comparing them side by side during our tasting. We also tasted pinot noirs bottled in two different years. I personally loved both roses and the cabernet, although everything we tried was very good. My friends seemed to agree given the number of bottles purchased! Andrew could not be more welcoming, kind and down to earth. We enjoyed and appreciated his stories and how he came to make K Squared what it is today. He's very approachable and happy to educate. You will have a great time here. K Squared is located in an industrial park in Windsor with plenty of parking in available. There are a few other spots nearby that sell wines, beers, spirits and ciders. This area is definitely a hidden gem and seemed to be a spot for locals in the know. This spot is not to be missed if in the area and is worth a trip if you're not. Support the small wineries! read more

A must visit while in the Windsor/Sonoma. I'm so thankful K Squared Cellars popped into my view while researching wineries in the area. During our visit we enjoyed all of the wines on the tasting menu: Sauvignon Blanc, Rose, Zinfandel, and Petit Sirah. Talk about a hidden gem! Tucked back in a a business park is the county's best rosè in all of Sonoma. For me to write that (as an avid IPA / cab / zin enthusiast) takes a lot of balls, but the rosè has a lot of balls. The rosè was the fan favorite from all that were at our house this weekend for Labor Day weekend - so much so we had to run back and buy another case. The tasting setting on premise is intimate and authentic making you feel like you are not only supporting a local family's small business, but also apart of the family. Andrew, the owner, has a clear passion for making wine and it shows in not only the way he talks about each wine - but also in the quality wines he produces. We stopped here strictly based on the reviews we read and using the Priority Wine Pass offer of 2 for 1 tastings. This was one of our favorite finds! Andrew was waiting for us and had a seating area set up for us (there were 6 of us). Andrew sat with us and told us about each wine he was pouring and there was no rushing through all of the wines. What are hidden gem. Not that it's hidden, and not that you couldn't find it, but it's in a unassuming area of the beverage district in Windsor. Most people see the first few wineries and brew pubs and don't think to keep going. What I first tasted winds here during a combined open house with a Colagrossi Wines and loved them both. I recently revisited K squared and loved the Pinot and petite Sirah! And much like the other wineries in the beverage district, you will be tasting with the owner themselves, in a relaxed, urban atmosphere. Andrew, the owner is very nice, down to earth, and very welcoming. I'm looking forward to barrel tasting weekend because this area is a great place to park, and walk around and try multiple producers. While in Healdsberg for a road bike race we ran into Andrew providing a wine tasting opportunity in our hotel lobby. He was a lot of fun and as owner and winemaker, it was educational sampling his wines. We ended up purchasing a couple of bottles that we picked up at his tasting room following our race the next day. Andrew is a small craft winery producing less than a thousand cases a year. His tasting room is in an industrial park with a couple of other small producers of wine and cider sprinkled amongst other businesses. I would recommend dropping by his "hidden" tasting room, enjoying some award winning wine and shooting a few hoops (you have to go to understand). Make sure he lets you sample his barreled wine for next year's production. We ended up buying some futures while we were there. As others have said,K Squared Cellars is definitely a hidden gem! We visited another winery, (much larger and well known), earlier in the day. K Squared was by far superior to the wine we tasted earlier in the day! The best word to describe Andrew's wine is "WOW!" We each walked away purchasing two bottles and couldn't be more pleased. I purchased the Zinfandel and the Cabernet Sauvignon -- (which recently won a DOUBLE GOLD). Bigger isn't always better, that's for sure. Came here on a first stop on a day full of tasting in Santa Rosa. We loved it! We were warmly greeted by Julie, co-owner of K Squared. This is a husband and wife duo combining their skills and making their dreams a reality. My bf and I had a great time chatting it up with Julie while tasting a flight. The wine was great! We were so happy to find some new (to us) wine that we love! My favs were the Pinot and Merlot, but we ended up taking home a bottle of the Rose which was also delicious. I promise we will be back for more! They are nearby some other cool places we want to visit too and seems like it could be a whole day bouncing from fun place to fun place. BEST experience I had here in Sonoma County! DON'T BE PUT OFF by their weird location. They're in an industrial park by a soccer field, but take the chance on this growing business, they're the next big thing!Their wine was really good, and they let us taste all 6 wines and THEN they offered us an additional barrel tasting! My favs were the Rose and the Merlot, but all are good! The fee is $10, but we were sent over by the World Mark by Wyndham, so it was complimentary. Family owned and run, and Andrew treated us like we were family ourselves! He was really informative about the wine-making process, and altogether we were given great and friendly service. Having made wine at a couple wineries myself, and being a passionate wine taster for years now, I was totally unprepared for the experience I was about to have as I wove my way between cases and barrels to get to their tasteful tasting room. That was the most hilarious, entertaining, and meaningful tasting I've ever had. I tend to have as good a time as could be had wherever I taste, and I've made some lasting friendships across many a winery counter, but this one stands above the rest. I'm not a spiritual person per se, but I have this vague memory of the air being somehow charged with good vibrations. That probably has something to do with Andrew and K Squared's wine. He is about as good natured a human as you could conceive, and that was immediately apparent to me each time new people entered. Behind every great man is a better woman, so I'm sure Julie puts him to shame too (sorry Andrew). Their grapes hail from a combination of their own family's vineyard and local vineyards that they've been working with since K Squared began. Their wines have a range of personalities to suit all but the worst of the personalities and palates that enter their hallowed place. By the time my people and I exited their establishment, I had in my possession a gift of value even greater than the storied wine I carried (including one of less than a dozen K Squared 2016 Merlots in existence). I was the proud new recipient of a foundational experience - one of lasting value and favor to be built upon in a future suddenly made brighter by the light of love and goodness pouring forth from the hearts and creations of Andrew and Julie. read more
