The obedience class is set up like a monthly subscription, where you can go to as many classes as you want. We end up going about 3-4 times a week for 30 minutes, as it is a great activity to mentally exercise our dog and provide socialization while working alongside other dogs. One of the more offensive moments came when we were told "I think your time is about up anyway" after one of the staff person's friends entered with her two dogs and we had no idea what the parameters of us being there were. What, just get out now? We felt because we had never been before and weren't familiar with the place that we were unwelcome at this exclusive club. At least our dogs didn't mind the attitude. Unlike Augie, who was always sweet and extremely mellow even as a puppy, Nala bit us in the face, barked, destroyed things in our home and terrorized Augie to the extent that he would run away from her. We weren't sure we could keep her because she was so badly behaved and seemed untrainable. In the span of 3 weeks, David transformed Nala from a challenging puppy into a dream puppy. She obeys all the commands, walks off leash in our wooded neighborhood, sleeps hours later than when she left and most importantly she is able to play well with Augie who now seeks her out and willingly allows her even to sleep in his own bed. David sent dozens of videos so we could watch her while she was in training and learn the language she was learning from David. He kept in contact and was even able to drop her off and meet our other dog for a walk with Nala. Without Massachusetts Dog Training, we would likely have given our wonderful puppy away and never realized what a gem we had. Her behavior was borderline unhinged. She turned a misunderstanding on her part into a verbal assault and complete severance of our contract. This episode was extreme enough that I would no longer trust her with my dog or as a reasonable person with whom to conduct any sort of business.
