Wanted to preface the review is only about the dinner buffet. Entering, we encounter the dirty floors, dirty tables (had to avoid 2-3), dirty drink machine, and dirty counter. We ordered the buffet then noticed most of the fountain drinks had no syrup or just pure syrup. So filling up a few of the micro 3oz cups with the one fountain drink that was working, we head to the buffet. The curry chicken was nothing but bones and sauce, same with the goat curry. Nan bread was gone and rice available was minimal. Vegetables seemed to been cooking since lunch and were either goo or dried up. Never again for us. read more

Best Biryani in the RVA (maybe in the Outer DMV) This past weekend, we drove to this place all the way from Bethesda, Maryland. That a fair distance for take-out, to say the least. My esteemed husband lived in the RVA about 7-10 years ago, he and his family swear by their biryani. My husband is a born and raised native of Mumbai, India who attended Cooking and Hotel Management School. Needless to say, he loves to cook and is picky about his food. He makes a fabulous biryani himself, which he is always trying to perfect. He absolutely adores and loves the food at Kabab House. The flavor is incredible, it is rich in delicious seasonings. The price is totally worth the value and the best part of all, the portions are huge. I'd say this place is a hidden gem of the RVA, if you love tasty Indian Food this is the place for you. read more

I had to try the goat Biryani because I've heard and read so many people mention it. And yes it was fantastic. One of the best in Richmond. Perfectly spiced and meat was very nice. The portion can easily feed two or even three people. Also the gentleman all working inside are some of the friendliest people. Can't wait to go back and try more of the curries from the menu. I don't think you can eat there. Looks like it's only setup for take out. That's my only reason for four stars. read more

Last week I picked up a small tray of Chicken biriyani and a small tray of Goat Biriyani. Both were a disaster. Some oil or butter was oozing from every grain of rice and every piece of meat. I promised friends in Northern Virginia that I will send them the Best Biriyani from Richmond for their event. I totally list face and will never step into that place. Order food through yelp using Grubhub. Walked into the restaurant and immediately was met with an audible sound of my sneakers sticking to the floor along with a tactile sensation confirming this which lead me to believe the floor hadn't been cleaned in several days possibly months. The first thought that came to mine was if the floor is this dirty what does the kitchen look like and should I really be eating here. I reach the counter and to the left of me were 4 people sitting in a booth. I wait a couple of minutes and someone comes out of the back. I tell them I order online show them the order and say they need to see my name. I show them my name and they bring the food out and try to charge me. I tell them that I've already paid and I'm not paying again they say again they don't do online orders. I asked them how did they get my order. Then one of the 4 guys from the booth came over and told me to cancel my order. I have no idea what's going on in this place. They don't have customers, it's dirty, they're unknowledgeable about their business and not friendly to their customers. I urge anyone who gets the desire to eat here not to. Even if you manage to secure the food that you've paid for with receipt for proof you may be consuming something prepared that's not to the normal standards of cleanliness judging by the care they have for their floor. Took out Kababs the other day from here. Fantastic! Deliciously seasoned chicken shish kabab made with ground meat, tender flavorful lamb, nice rice, chickpeas and crispy salad on the side. Also a very nice minty sauce for dipping. Naan seemed made just for me - crispy and about as large as an album! read more

I had previously left a four star review because I didn't like the bones in the chicken korma despite it being amazingly delicious. I have found out that you have to ask for boneless and it was so good I ordered it like 6 times in a 2 week period. The boneless chicken korma is one of my new favorite dishes in Richmond. read more

Large roaches in Briyani. Used to love this place but the Briyani has less meat and the quality has been declining. Tried one more time and wound up with a large roach in my food. read more

we have been going to kabob place ever since they opened and the food is absolutely delicious. the best things to get are the shaan special chicken karahi and roghni naan. there is literally no where else in Richmond that makes naan THIS fresh. their whole roasted chicken is also very good. i would recommend trying these dishes as opposed to the buffet. read more

It's a small restaurant with little staff. I ate the buffet. The buffet menu was the standard Indian dishes like butter chicken and biryani. There is a salad section but I didn't want it because it didn't look fresh. They use plastic utensils and plates, but I don't mind them too much. The food however was kind of hard to eat because it isn't chopped into bite size. When I eat out, I don't like to use my hands to eat. The food tasted alright it wasn't spectacular, but also it wasn't bad. Some of the food looked greasy. For the price, I believe it is kind of high. The bathroom was pretty clean which is a positive for me. Overall, I rate the restaurant low. The only reason it is a 3 star is because of the clean bathroom. I probably won't return. read more

We get biryani here all the time, very reasonably priced for a ton of food and never had a problem with our orders.

I have been coming here for nearly ten years and everyone is incredibly kind, the food is absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere is very relaxing. I got married last year and the owner allowed me to transform the restaurant for my reception. Everyone was so helpful and my vision came out perfectly! Kabab house( hahaha) so on special day went there for dinner and ordered for two Kababs (chicken tikka and garlic). Tikka was under cooked and garlic was almost uncooked ( white with smell and it's like eating raw chicken) No chutney, salad with the order. I had to waste my $32 ( including one wrap). Spoiled my special day with wastage of hard earned money. They should learn how to cook Kabab first. Will never recommend. read more

Biryani is good and quantity is great, only concern I have is that they are using Vanaspati/Dalda (hydrogenated vegetable oil) heart clogging dangerous and is banned in many cities, they can use oil instead of hydrogenated vegetable oil. They keep changing the name from Shish Kabab, Darul Kabab and now it is called Kabab house. This is not going to help use health ingredients at least use oil instead of hydrogenated vegetable oil read more

This is probably the worst place when it comes to serving food on time. They asked me to wait for 25mins for a takeaway which itself is considerable, but took full one hour to prepare and pack. There is very loud whirring noise continues to come from kitchen which again make it unbearable to wait for 1hr. If only there was an option to give negative points. Sigh!! read more

Pathetic place! Pathetic food. After travelling long from lOrlando to Richmond, we saw located this place online to have good chicken biryani. On our visit, owner suggested to try buffet lunch. I just cannot say, all the dishes were so pathetic and pale that you will vomit when you have at this place! I thought kheer would be good, but after my first bite, I just threw it. Amazing food and very kind folks. The sides and the [ryeta] are great compliments to the entrees. One of my favorite places for take out.

Kabab house is so far the best place for biriyani around Richmond. We love the lamb and goat biriyani and love dining in for their rich dinner buffet. Always meets our expectations with their food and customer service. Would highly recommend. read more
