This place has a small private lot in addition to street parking, which I wish I'd realized because I came in during a thunderstorm and even the block I walked to get here I would have been happy to have not had to walk. It is a fairly upscale place, and while I had some skepticism of the need for another Indian restaurant in this neighborhood, this one was excellent. Offering a modern and largely North Indian menu, it had an interesting range of choices. The salad I started with had some herbed goat cheese balls and an excellent crispness to the greens, and my chai was full of flavor. I challenged them to deliver the maximum spice level on the entree I tried, a spinach and potato dish I hadn't seen before. It was quite venomous, to the point where I felt the lining of my stomach had probably had enough punishment for the weekend so I took half of it to go. The average diner will probably not be well served by the Indian hot, but at a lower spice level will find a delightful mix of tastes. Adding a bread filled with pureed mushroom was a good way to add a milder flavor. I would be happy to come back.

Good Indian spot that was also recommended to me by the tea shop close by. It might be too spicy for those who are sensitive to spice, but I thought medium spice level was perfect. The samosas were good and came with a bit of sweet and sour sauce and the lentils inside were filling! Pretty aesthetic presentation. The lamb biryani was kind of low on the meat to sauce ratio, but perfect spice level for me! Good basmati rice with the sauce! Chicken korma was also offered when you ask the waiter and it was very creamy with less spice (asked for mild). Roti was a huge skip as it was too plain and should have come with a spicier sauce. Garlic naan was good but pretty standard. Super nice and attentive staff and great service. Fairly priced dishes overall for the portion size.

Only lost a star for value. But this is now a 'theme' with dining out.. i dined for early dinner yesterday. Started with the scallop appetizer (3scallops), a cheese bread and a guava mocktail. My main was the crab korma, which had a nice amount of lump crabmeat in a mild sauce. My total came to $80 with tip. Hard not to compare to a time not long ago where this would have been a less than $50 affair, but alas.. welcome to dining out in 2025. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Service was sparse but atmosphere and food were nice enough to return.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I went recently and it was so good! I thought I would miss citizen burger, being there, but once I was there, I'm glad that this has gone in! [[HIGHLIGHT]]It feels clean and modern, but still cozy, and the staff was very attentive![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the lamb vindaloo And it was delicious!

I ordered Indian twice while in The Chester area and both were meh. The chicken Karhai (sp?) was fragrant and I enjoyed the peppers but the whole cloves were off putting. I ordered via Uber Eats so service is based on that. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Building looks cool from other photos, but not like glamorous or anything.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The samosas were missing the beets.

My new favorite Indian restaurant in Richmond. The flavor is there, the customer service is amazing, and they're consistent and reasonably priced. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I've done take out and dine in and the patio is my favorite place to be.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Highly recommend!!

Carytown Indian is a nice addition to the area. I went during a weekday lunch and the restaurant was pretty empty. They have plenty of seating and could accommodate large parties. The service was great and the employees were attentive. Their lunch entrees are an amazing deal. I got the chicken tikka masala and it came with naan, rice, and then either a soup or salad. All the food and drinks were very flavorful.

Stopped by for my birthday dinner and [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was immediately impressed with the kind staff, the peaceful energy and ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They have a mocktail menu which I appreciated since I no longer partake in alcohol. I had the butter chicken, (cones with rice) and garlic naan. It was absolutely delicious, and flavorful. They did not skimp on the meat either but provided a perfect amount of sauce to dip your bread in! They surprised me with a birthday dish and the mango ice cream was truly incredible. Thank you for a great memory and service ! I will be returning!

Lunch comes with soup of the day or salad - this was their daal soup. Super flavorful!

Carytown Indian Cuisine is a great addition to the Indian food scene in RVA. In a great location in Carytown right across from the Byrd and they have their own parking lot right next door. I love Indian food, and this was some of the very best in RVA. We went during lunch, and although their lunch menu was limited, it was delicious. Their lunch entree allows you to select your protein, then you choose your curry. This also comes with 6 quarter pieces of naan and a HUGE bowl of rice. Spice level ranges from 1-5, with 2 being pretttty spicy. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection. The service was kind and attentive, and the white tablecloths elevated the ambiance. Can't wait to return to try different dishes.

This was AMAZING!!!! And SO Generously portioned, I have leftovers for days lol. Butter chicken and garlic naan are 10/10. The service was amazing as well! It's in a downtown area, but there is street parking available

I got the chicken tikka masala, it was good but not as flavorful as I usually find it to be. My boyfriend got the chicken tikka and he said it was amazing, he is still talking about it. The garlic naan was delicious and the service was great. Definitely a cute white table cloth sort of place, we will probably be back.

The service was great and almost too much. I had someone wait on me as soon as I arrived almost as soon as he walked away, someone else came and checked on me and then someone else . That pattern seemed to exist throughout my dining experience . I was actually on the phone when I arrived so it was probably a little bit too much but I appreciated that they cared and were attentive. I thought the food was good and I enjoyed it all, but some of it wasn't quite great ., Especially the appetizer. The cauliflower which was fried and then and a red sauce seemed like it had maybe been Fried several hours earlier and then put in the red sauce because the consistency was soggy not crisp like I would expect a piece of fried cauliflower to be had it just been fried. But the presentation was very nice. I ordered the tikka masala. It was a huge serving, although a lot of what was served with the sauce. It was plenty to have for another two meals. I added some of my own meat once I got it home so that it had more substance along with the sauce . And again I enjoyed it. It tasted nice. Also order dessert the Gulab Jamun and it was very good.

Tulsi feels extravagant and upscale from the moment you enter. The lighting was lovely, each of the different lamps exquisitely lining the walls provided a golden hue throughout the space. We were seated immediately with no reservations. The atmosphere was quiet and cozy, great for couples to catch up and talk about their days or get to know one another. Our server was attentive and polite. He gave us time to peruse the menu at our leisure, while he brought out the gratis before-the-meal appetizer. It was like a crispy naan with three distinctly different sauces. It really was quite delicious. I ordered the Chicken Konkani and my partner had the Chicken Curry. As connoisseurs of a great many Indian restaurants, we quite enjoyed the entrees at Tulsi. I savored the coconut creaminess of the Konkani. I also tried my partner's curry, and it had a rich aromatic flavor as well. We didn't try dessert because we were simply too stuffed by the end. The choices were almost tempting enough to persuade me, but we refrained. Tulsi is for lovers, just like Virginia, so we were in great company. I wholeheartedly recommend giving this spot a chance. We will definitely be back to partake in the fine dining experience on offer here.

Picked my sons up....they didn't wanna hang with me, even a little. SOOOO I went to dinner at Tulsi. BY MYSELF The place would be great for a date or a little romance. The ambiance was a lil sultry as the sun went down. The amount of food they give you is substantial. I had the lamb tandoori it came out sizzling like fajitas or the east(I'm sorry if that was racist) The naan was delish But the STAR was the lemon-drop martini I had. Bartender must have saw, me a solo diner that had been abandoned by her own younglings and felt for me because that thang was STRONG and I appreciated it. I was a little tipsy(I don't usually drink so it did not take a lot) it was cool because my big one will drive. At the end I had plenty of leftovers that my sons will get NONE of. It was enjoyable. I asked for spicy and received their level 5 (1-5). It was good, flavors and seasoning were excellent, but for truly spicy you need to ask for "True Indian Level" they are used to a bunch of Americans with tender palates! The staff is friendly and helpful with recommendations, and although the place was busy, we never felt rushed. The restaurant's clean and inviting environment adds to the positive experience.
