The food was okay. My Pakistani husband and I didn't feel like it was extremely flavorful but it wasn't bad. The restaurant itself was nice and clean. The worst place I visited in Richmond area. They charging you for the buffet that in actual it doesn't looks like a buffet, no managed on service, the beryani was the worst one, no drink, and there is only one person assigned for the whole work in the restaurant. I have never written a bad review until now. I recently moved and have been searching for great restaurants. On a freezing night, spicy food from Noorani Kabab House sounded perfect, so I tried it for the first time. My order was about $50, and after tax, tip, and delivery, over $80. Immediately after ordering, I realized I forgot a promo code and called to ask if anything could be done. This could have been handled politely, but instead I was treated like I was foolish for asking. Delivery was scheduled shortly after 7:00 PM. I stayed near the door and continued to check. Seventeen minutes later, I found the food outside in freezing weather with no knock, doorbell, or message. When I called to explain that on a freezing night the food gets cold quickly and that I expected a knock or doorbell, she said, "We aren't DoorDash." I explained I can't order in the future if they can't somehow let me know the food is here. She replied, "We have other customers," which made it clear my request didn't matter. I asked for a manager and was told they wouldn't be back for a month. The food was good, but I would have loved more heat, not just in temperature but in spice. I was ready to be a repeat customer but now feel obligated to take my business to a place that cares about customer service and repeat business. Bummer. read more

I love the buffet here. The food is full of flavor and usually a good variety. Oh and the naan is excellent. That being said, the service is borderline terrible. The gentleman helping us today stopped us immediately upon entering and asked if we wanted naan. I responded, absolutely! Then he asked what we want to drink. It took almost 10 minutes to get beverages. I had to ask for my drink as though I was placing my order again for the first time. Two other times we had to ask for refills. While other patrons didn't seem to share that challenge. The lack of service just takes the enjoyment out of it. I'll be on the hunt for somewhere else to get my Butter Chicken fix. read more

We are a huge fan of Noorani's, as we don't mind driving all the way down to Richmond to get our karahi fix! This restaurant offers both Pakistani and Indian eats (such as samosas, chaat papris, pani puri, chole bhature, kababs, biryani, and even fish/veggie options), and even a Chinese Menu. Our favorite is the Chicken Karahi - it is always made fresh-to-order, and the seasonings, the spices, and the chicken are so flavorful and juicy. They don't skimp out on the portions, as you can find plenty of meat! The karahi sauce is simmered to perfection, making it thick and yummy and perfect to dip the freshly-baked naan in. We've also tried their Chicken Biryani and their Butter Chicken - the hubs enjoyed the biryani, and we both thought the Butter Chicken was good, too - the latter had a nice tang to it and hard large chunks of chicken. I'd like to try out their grilled kababs next time, and maybe some of their Chinese options! Service is always so welcoming and so friendly - they are adhering to all social distancing practices, such as readily-available disposable gloves for the lunch buffet line, and the tables and chairs set apart from each other. I just wish that their restrooms are more clean/tidy and have better toilet paper! This is our favorite kabob place in RVA. The food is excellent! Portions and prices are fair enough, but service for dine-in takes far too long! Make sure you're able to wait. I ordered the chicken 65 as an appetizer and the malai chicken as my entrée. I had a large group order for six individuals and everything was done right my only feedback is that I wish the containers were labeled because we ended up having to figure out which food was for which person based on the type of meat after digging through the food. They are excellent, but I have favorite dishes from other Indian restaurants. Those are our favorites from Noorani and they never disappoint. This review is long overdue, my love and I came here once because our usual spot has changed its hours to 4pm-10pm and removed their lunch buffet. The food was phenomenal, great price then most places in RVA. I came back last week to get the buffet and it was even better! This is a big step for me. I don't give 5's out that much, and I've never given a buffet a 5. After having their lunch buffet there today though, I can't think of a reason not to. Put your past buffet prejudices aside, this is no normal buffet. Let me first clarify that Noorani Kabab House isn't just a buffet. If you go during their non lunch hours (which by the way is 11 AM to 3 PM, something I couldn't find on their website), you can experience a normal dining experience from a menu and a full wait service. My review is just for their buffet. --Food: Part of the appeal and magic of a buffet is the ability to try a wide spread of items. Noorani offers about 10 main items plus a couple soups and a salad bar. I leave it intentionally nondescript because their buffet items change daily. From the sounds of it and the spread today though, you're bound to find at least a few tasty chicken dishes. You also get a large basket of delicious naan with every buffet. One of the most appealing things to me here is that the items aren't just mass produced chicken items thrown onto a buffet line. Every one of their items here are directly taken from their dinner entrees. Every item I tried was bursting with flavor and I could taste all sorts of Indian spices and not just a mouth full of sodium. Truthfully, everything I tried was great (with the exception of one dish, but I think it was my personal taste and not the dish itself.) I will say that I don't have a huge history of Indian food, but I had it occasionally in college when it was catered and one of my suitemates ordered Indian quite a lot. I don't know all the names of the things I had, but some of my favorites were as follows: - Chicken 65: I've never had this before, but this was probably my favorite. It was spicy, juicy, and delicious. It packs a touch of heat, but won't burn your mouth off. - Butter Chicken: I wasn't expecting to like this, but it was creamy and delicious. - Naan: Absolutely delicious. I dipped it in all of the sauces I had on my plate and bowl. - Hot and Sour Soup: They also have a couple Chinese things, oddly enough. Their take on Hot and Sour soup is great! - Black Pepper Chicken: Also Chinese I believe, this dish was peppery and seasoned deliciously. They also had Chicken Biryani and Karahi which were pretty good! I basically went down the line and tried a little bit of everything that included chicken or an orange sauce. --Cost: Buffet with Naan was $10. Can't argue with that. Especially since you can eat as much as you like and can get a feel for what you do and don't like in terms of Indian food if you don't have too much experience with it (like me). --Atmosphere: The exterior is completely underwhelming yet the interior is spacious and inviting. It doesn't seem tacky either like some buffets. I enjoy the design of their food containers on the buffet. --Service: Amazing. Even with a buffet my waitress was super nice and answered questions I had. I noticed that a lot of the reviews mention slow service during dinner hours, but since a buffet doesn't rely on this, I experienced none of this. --Overall: I went in to the buffet expecting to get a decent meal, but I couldn't have been more pleased. I feel that I was able to learn quite a bit about various Indian dishes as well as get a filling and delicious lunch at the same time. I would imagine that most of the dinner entrees are delicious as well if they're anything like their lunch counterparts. My college friends and I recently had a reunion and went in for biryani and butter chicken like old times, and it was just as good. Don't forget the garlic naan! Another great meal at Noorani Kabab. Again both times we've gone there have not been many other customers and the space is actually kind of big so it stands out. A good selection of Indian/Paki/"Asian" food. Prices are on par or a tad cheaper than other Indian restaurants. Food comes out fast and hot. Server was very nice (and even remembered us from months ago). If you are unsure what to get I recommend getting a kabab combo. About 4 good sized pieces of meat, biyrani rice, chickpeas, and naan! If you like samosas I also highly recommend it here. The seekh (beef) kabab had especially good flavor and spice. I tried the rolls which someone also mentioned are like Kati Rolls, not as good as the carts in NYC but decent. I would try it if you have a craving otherwise try the other food. Had the chance to try Noorani on several occasions and it is definitely some of the most delicious Indian food I've tried in Richmond. Recently, they catered for a fundraiser at our school and they offered wonderful service with wonderful food. The food was delivered piping hot so our students got to try it basically fresh out of the oven. That was amazing to have on our lunch break. Not to mention, they were SO prompt! I'm also a frequent visitor for their lunch buffet, and their dinner menu is delicious as well. My favorite at their lunch buffet is their butter chicken, and I always gets 2-3 plates of just that (prob not diet friendly, oops). I always get the tea they offer on the side table (Chai? not sure, but you should try it) Dinner - I stuff myself silly because they have AMAZING garlic naan. Don't meet with anyone important after because you will definitely have garlic breath, but it is so worth it. It's consistently fresh and slightly crispy on the outside. I have Groupon to thank for introducing me to this gem of a restaurant! I wasn't expecting much when I parked my car and stood outside looking at the simple, plain neon restaurant sign. However, I walked through the entrance doors into a HUGE spacious restaurant with large ceiling fans, cool light fixtures, and nice tables. There is a even a wooden stage along one wall (our server said that the restaurant often gets rented out for parties and events). The restaurant serves Indian/Pakistani food, but I definitely think the owners are Pakistani, because there were beef items on the menu. I ordered the beef karahi because I had never heard of karahi and was interested in trying something totally new. Our waitress said it was a Pakistani specialty that is named for the unique pot that the food is cooked in. The dish was delicious and had lots of ginger; it was a large portion as well, which helped justify the $18+ price tag. My dining companion ordered the chicken tikka masala, but asked for it spicy. It was definitely the spiciest chicken tikka masala I have ever had. I'm used to chicken tikka masala being the "safe" sweet, buttery dish that Indian food newbies order; Noorani's chicken tikka masala was almost too spicy for me to enjoy! However, the number one reason I give this place five stars is due to the phenomenal service. Our server was extremely helpful and friendly, answering our many questions and just keeping a very conversational tone. She gave us rice in addition to naan with our meals since there was so much rice in the back. My friend also ordered a green cream soda (I forget the name), and our server asked why he didn't like it (he had not drank much of it). He said he actually did like it, but was trying to save it to sip on throughout the meal. Our waitress said to go ahead and finish it while we were waiting for the food, and that she would bring a second can for him on the house! Additionally, when we asked for boxes for our leftovers at the end of the meal, she even brought out a cup and lid so that he could take his unfinished second can of soda to go! I really truly enjoyed the warm, flavorful food. Our waitress convinced us to order the Drums of Heaven appetizer, which was absolutely heavenly, as the name implies. The chicken wings were shaved to lollipop shapes, which made it easier to pick up by the bone and eat with our hands. The seasonings and sauce were amazing, drenched over the fried chicken. I really liked the complimentary papadam appetizer as well. The only negative part about my dining experience was the fact that it took forever for our food to come out. The karahi takes a while to prepare, and even considering that, we had to wait a considerable amount of time for our orders. I think the wait was worth it given the ultimate quality of the food, but there were only a few other patrons that night, so if service is slow even when the restaurant is less busy, it is a good thing to keep in mind when you decide to dine here. (We had originally planned on seeing a movie after dinner, but it was too late by the time we finished our meal.) I will definitely be back to Noorani Kabab House, and I would like to make it back during lunch to try their lunch buffet! I saw all of the cool containers for the buffet on the side of the restaurant, and I think the buffet is a great bargain to try a bunch of dishes (and pick out what to order for dinners in the future), all for less than $10! =) read more
