One of the best mediterranean places in Portland true to original recipes and not Americanized - the owner is a great guy and service is always friendly and fast. You can not go wrong if you are into a good delicious meal from that cuisine. Plenty of vegetarian options as well.

Excellent food and host/chef! If you like Middle Eastern/Mediterranean food but haven't been here, you're missing out. There's a great menu of amazing food and presentations.

Great customer service owner is very friendly. I ordered the falafel wrap that came with a house salad and delicious rice. The Kabob was organic chicken breast marinated in extra virgin olive oil it was super juicy with tons of flavor and crispy on the outside. literally perfectly cooked I would highly recommend trying their gem of a restaurant!!

My new favorite Mediterranean restaurant. Their grass fed lamb is so much juicier and tender than I've had elsewhere is the main reason. We got some of the classics like pita & hummus of course and lamb kebab (which is served on a cool vertical skewer tower) both of which were excellent. My favorite was the Lamb Kusharia which I hadn't seen at another Mediterranean restaurant so I tried. It was some generous juicy lamb chunks coated in a delicious nutty herby sauce on a bed of savory yellow rice and lentils w/ crispy onions and chickpeas. They also had another dish I hadn't heard of called Muthawamah which sounded very good as well I will have to try next time. Very friendly owner and they also have some homemade lemonades too that were quite tasty.

This place is awesome! Fresh, delicious food, wide variety, clean and comfortable place--I can't wait to go back! Give this family some love, as this place has amazing food!! Run, don't walk, to eat here! And I've never said that about a place before!

Unfortunately we lost our favorite buffets to Covid. We have been searching and searching.... today the search is over. The lunch buffet at Kabob is excellent.  Nice selection of food.  Fresh. The atmosphere from the art on the wall to the music was very pleasing.  The food was very very good. And then we got our drinks.  At $8.00 I was expecting a smaller glass. We got a a small caraffe!!  Phenomenal value. Highly recommend Kabob.  I'd give six stars if I could.

Rare is it that I order takeout and the food is this phenomenal, but somehow the service was also 1000/10 in our 5 minutes inside picking up our food. An employee came from picking fresh figs, and offered some to us which was such a delicious treat. The inside is also so very very beautiful. We ordered the hummus, baba, grape leaves , tabuli, chicken moothawama, and lamb kusharia. Their grape leaves had us salvating on the drive home. It was all absolutely delectable and the portions were large and generous.

Nicholas Restaurant has a really cute, welcoming vibe, with outdoor tables and plenty of seating inside. They have a great selection of drinks, and I decided to try the house Arnold Palmer--made with fresh lemonade and cinnamon mint iced tea. It was unique and really refreshing. We started with a few appetizers for the table: hummus, tzatziki, and falafel balls. Everything came out quickly and was a hit. The hummus tasted incredibly fresh, the tzatziki had a nice tangy kick, and the falafel balls were perfectly crispy and flavorful. For my main, I ordered the chicken breast kabob plate, which came with two skewers, rice, tzatziki, and garlic sauce. The chicken was incredibly tender and cooked just right. Overall, a great meal with fresh, flavorful food and a relaxed atmosphere. I can definitely see why my family keeps coming back--this spot is well worth a visit.

Reviewing the menu, there were lots of yummy things to choose from but ultimately we both could not resist the Lamb shank. I'm sad I didn't take a picture of it. It was so tender and delicious. It came with perfect Basmati rice and a side of eggplant stew that was exquisite! I've never had eggplant stew and it was luscious. I dream to about it all night long. It was quiet, comfortable, music was great; songs we all know but with native instruments and flare. We had house red wine - not a big selection of alcohol, which is fine the food is and should be the star. I was checking out friends' reviews on Yelp, and came across a review of Chef Agir Restaurant Bar…read more My friend gave a glowing review and I zoomed in on a couple of pictures. On a picture of the menu, I saw that there were quite a few items that were vegan. The description of the food sounded delicious! I instantly wanted to check this Turkish restaurant out! I also immediately thought of friends that lived in the neighborhood! I messaged my friends telling them I wanted to try this place out. Now, most of my friends have busy schedules, so it takes quite a while to coordinate. As luck would have it, 3 of us were available this very day! We arranged to meet at 1:15ish. While waiting for my friends, I got some complimentary Turkish tea, it was quite good. Then I put in an order for the appetizer sampler plate. The order arrived just as my friends did. They actually walked to the restaurant. The appetizer sampler consisted of Ezme, Tarator, Muhammara and Eggplant salad. Three of the four items were vegan the Tarator contained yogurt. My favorite was the Muhammara. My friends enjoyed the shared appetizer. It came with pita bread, and when the basket was emptied, we were asked if we wanted more. For my entree, I ordered the vegan Tantuni wrap with oyster mushrooms. The flavor was outstanding! My friends were both loving what they ordered. A friend also got the turnip juice. Said it was an interesting flavor, was not expecting that. The ambiance was casual but inviting. The service was quick and friendly. Food was delicious! I definitely plan on coming back again!

I recently stopped into Chef Agir for an early dinner, and it was a fantastic experience from a pedestrian's perspective. This spot first caught my eye because of the vibrant mural by Christa Grimm on the west wall, which was recently highlighted in a City Cast Portland newsletter. It is a wonderful visual landmark for anyone walking along NE 13th. Inside, the atmosphere is welcoming and the service is exceptionally attentive. I had a great conversation with the staff about the restaurant's growth since opening six months ago. While I usually view the city through a lens rather than a menu, the food was excellent and the space feels like a true community gem. Highly recommended for those exploring the neighborhood on foot.

Fresh but pretty standard. Then came the falafel. Nice and crunchy on the outside, not super flavorful on the inside. It was pretty salty overall. I noticed they sprinkled them with salt, and it was a bit too much. Next up, the hummus and flatbread, probably the only thing I enjoyed this evening. The green dip served with the flatbread was delicious, the yellow one... not my favorite. The flatbread itself was good and tasted freshly made. For the entrée, if you will, it was underwhelming. A chicken skewer on a bed of rice, it was really flavorful but didn't quite hit the mark. I was expecting something more substantial after a simple plate of vegetables and a piece of bread. The sweet pickles really threw off the balance of the dish for me. I don't have a picture, but we were also served a dessert that we were pretty excited for, since dinner did not meet our expectations. It came out stale, old, and partially burnt. I honestly don't know why they served it to us. This was my first time trying Middle Eastern food, which is one of the reasons we chose to do the special. I assumed it would showcase some of their (Tusk's) popular dishes, something that would bring me back. I can't imagine it did. There was also a mandatory 20% service charge added to the bill, which stood out to me given the overall experience. I would love to give Middle Eastern food another go, but it will not be at Tusk.
