One of the best mediterranean places in Portland true to original recipes and not Americanized - the owner is a great guy and service is always friendly and fast. You can not go wrong if you are into a good delicious meal from that cuisine. Plenty of vegetarian options as well.

Great customer service owner is very friendly. I ordered the falafel wrap that came with a house salad and delicious rice. The Kabob was organic chicken breast marinated in extra virgin olive oil it was super juicy with tons of flavor and crispy on the outside. literally perfectly cooked I would highly recommend trying their gem of a restaurant!!

My new favorite Mediterranean restaurant. Their grass fed lamb is so much juicier and tender than I've had elsewhere is the main reason. We got some of the classics like pita & hummus of course and lamb kebab (which is served on a cool vertical skewer tower) both of which were excellent. My favorite was the Lamb Kusharia which I hadn't seen at another Mediterranean restaurant so I tried. It was some generous juicy lamb chunks coated in a delicious nutty herby sauce on a bed of savory yellow rice and lentils w/ crispy onions and chickpeas. They also had another dish I hadn't heard of called Muthawamah which sounded very good as well I will have to try next time. Very friendly owner and they also have some homemade lemonades too that were quite tasty.

Unfortunately we lost our favorite buffets to Covid. We have been searching and searching.... today the search is over. The lunch buffet at Kabob is excellent. Nice selection of food. Fresh. The atmosphere from the art on the wall to the music was very pleasing. The food was very very good. And then we got our drinks. At $8.00 I was expecting a smaller glass. We got a a small caraffe!! Phenomenal value. Highly recommend Kabob. I'd give six stars if I could.

Rare is it that I order takeout and the food is this phenomenal, but somehow the service was also 1000/10 in our 5 minutes inside picking up our food. An employee came from picking fresh figs, and offered some to us which was such a delicious treat. The inside is also so very very beautiful. We ordered the hummus, baba, grape leaves , tabuli, chicken moothawama, and lamb kusharia. Their grape leaves had us salvating on the drive home. It was all absolutely delectable and the portions were large and generous.

Tried this place on a whim and I'm blown away. The food is delicious, the portions are large, and the staff was so nice. We attempted to order enough for one meal for two people (falafel, tabouleh, hummus, tzatziki, dolmeh, pita) but instead we have probably three meals for two people. I'm just down the street from this place and can already feel it becoming my new go-to falafel spot. read more

Ridiculously good. Ate here with no expectations (due entirely to the fact that I'd just never read any reviews) and left worried that I might blow my entire salary on eating here from now on. I had the Chicken Moothawama and it blew me away. My dining partner (who can usually find something to complain about) had the Chicken Kusharia and was stunned silent by how good it was. It might be worth it to eat here from now on just to shut him up. read more

Absolutely fantastic! Some of the best Lebanese food I have had anywhere - definitely the best I've had in Portland. Everything was made to order - incredibly fresh. This couple owned restaurant is AMAZING! Since our first visit we have came back a few times already and love it more each time. They are attentive, kind and make a mean plate. we stopped in when they were doing a special when they were new, everything was half off which we noted made the price point about average. the falafel was terrible, the hummus was thin. i will say they were friendly but that doesn't make it worth while. it's on a stretch of Hawthorne that's not easy to get to due to traffic. there are a lot better Middle Eastern places around Portland although I will say most of the Lebanese aren't much better. read more

Dry meats and very slow service. Tabuleh was basically a glorified Fatush Salad that really needed help. Very light flavors as if I was eating hospital cafeteria food! The kebab was dry, not juicy, tasted as it was cooked a week ago and reheated for the occasion. Sorry, I don't recommend that place. Sort of bizarre, single man operation! read more

I have dined here twice in the last month and the second time, we ordered even more. From the welcoming atmosphere, to the melt in your mouth flavors, this is the real deal. The service is impeccable, respectful of your party's pace and everything we ordered was delightful. The lamb especially is the best I've had in the city, and I've had a lot! Each dish from the vegan to the kabobs were memorable and supporting a lovely family makes it all the better. Absolutely the top Middle Eastern restaurant on our very selective list! read more

My friends and I have our "go to" Mediterranean spot but we saw this place and thought we'd give it a try. First off it's in a cute spot, big windows facing the street and the restaurant overall has a great vibe. We were seated right away and our server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the falafel plate...epic...hands down the BEST falafel I've ever had in Portland! When my friend's chicken kabob came I thought we were in another dimension, beautiful plating. I'm vegetarian but her food looked so good I wanted a few bites (don't worry, I stuffed my face with pita and hummus). I do love pita bread, in fact it's second to naan...not checking this place out would be like committing a hummuside...couldn't help it, haha! In all seriousness this place is great! I had a rough day at work this week and stopped in early on a Wednesday evening because I didn't want to cook and had been watching this place for the past few weeks, waiting for it to open. It was well worth the wait! I got an order of falafel to go and it was delicious! The falafel balls were flavorful, the pita was soft and pillowy, and the grilled vegetables in the salad were divine. They use short grain white rice and it was sticky and paired very nicely with the meal. The service was quick and friendly and the owner said they make all their food from scratch. I'm really happy they're in the neighborhood! I can't wait to go back and try the hanging meats at a sit-down meal there. The ambiance is really nice and there's a bar too. Great little spot on Hawthorne. Drinks are delicious and food even better. Shrimp kabobs were out of this world. Baba ghanouj and hummus were fabulous. Falafel was on point. Dine-in experience was great! Sat outside, and our table was sanitized prior to being seated. Baba Ghanoj appetizer was amazing! And when the Hanging Chicken Kabob came out, our jaws dropped. This spot first caught my eye because of the vibrant mural by Christa Grimm on the west wall, which was recently highlighted in a City Cast Portland newsletter. It is a wonderful visual landmark for anyone walking along NE 13th. Inside, the atmosphere is welcoming and the service is exceptionally attentive. I had a great conversation with the staff about the restaurant's growth since opening six months ago. While I usually view the city through a lens rather than a menu, the food was excellent and the space feels like a true community gem. My only wish is that the hummus and the baba ghanouj were a little less acidic but that may just be due to the fact that I may have heart burn . Tips for next time, both plates come with hummus so unless you love hummus, maybe skip on the mezza and order things à la carte. Would love to come back to try the lemon chicken meals! I honestly don't know why they served it to us. This was my first time trying Middle Eastern food, which is one of the reasons we chose to do the special. Within another minute, a plate of halibut came out. Also strange, we did order halibut but typically we'd expect our salads/smaller dishes to come out first but okay. Before we could take a bite, our waiter came back and swooped that plate up saying "this doesn't belong here" --no apology, no clarification, just poof. We could see the expo getting frustrated, trying to explain the table numbers to the wait staff so maybe it was just a new set of trainees? The table next to us also asked the waiter to hold off on firing the next few plates to give them time to digest, but unfortunately their next plate also came out within 2 minutes lol. Getting to the actual food, we got the stone fruit salad which my husband loved and I thought was pretty good, the ensalata bomba which I really liked, the pork belly skewers which we both liked and the scallop skewers which we both haaaated. They tasted like borderline rotten briny boba, and I had to give mine to my husband to eat because I almost vomited from it and I normally love scallops. Do not get those! We also got the fried chicken and the halibut. The fried chicken was fine but I didn't walk away blown away. It tasted like it really wanted to be like its Japanese cousin karaage, but the breading was too thick and there were chunks that were purely batter. Needed a wedge of lime to brighten things up. The halibut was ok too, we liked the pickled cherries but the whole dish didn't come together in the way we wished the flavors would. Overall, I'd say the food was a 6.5/10 and wait staff confusion was a 4/10. Midway thru our meal our waiter asked if we wanted dessert before we wrapped up and we were confused because we still had half our dishes and he just walked away. Then at the end it took several attempts to flag someone down to pay our bill, which added another 15 minutes next to meltdown Mariah next to us which felt like an eternity. For the amount we spent, I definitely think you could get a better meal elsewhere.

Despite being ridiculous full, we still managed to make room for dessert. We got the cookie and lemon pound cake. Bro that pound cake can get it. The mascarpone whip on top made me tingle on the inside after I got a taste. My gawd I wanted to eat the whole thing. The biggest compliment came at the end of the night when my friend told me I chose the perfect spot and picked all the right dishes. Big thanks to Mike for taking such great care of us. Mediocre food and horrible service. One single pitcher of water was dropped off at my table during my meal. No return, no dirty plates removed from the table which features a planter outside of the window complete with empty beer bottles and miscellaneous garbage as the view. I waited for at least 10-15 minutes by the register in an attempt to pay and finally gently knocked on the kitchen door to let the other employee know that I was trying to pay. A man then comes out and starts to chastise me and make me feel very uncomfortable. To quote ; oh just help yourself and go behind the counter and open the register and take the money etc. very aggressive and very unprofessional. I felt very disrespected. Keep in mind that no one ever attempted to go behind the register, only to pay for the horrible experience. You've been warned. As a bonus they add a 15% gratuity to your bill for the non existent service at a buffet! read more

The food is so good and affordable! There's vegan options and carnivorous options aplenty. I literally have never felt more comfortable or happy in a restaurant. The owner is the nicest man in town, and it shows. His staff is impeccable and kind, plus they're always delivering in quality. The ambiance of the spot is unmatched with traditional decor everywhere and music playing the whole time. You won't regret this place, mark my words. Awesome dancing on TV while you eat.
