This is my second time coming here and it hasn't changed from the first time i've come here. The waitresses are rude and have terrible costumer service; they don't check on you at all and it took almost hour for them to get my boyfriend's food out. The place looks nice but other than that, they only take cash, the salteñas are so tiny they're are not worth the price, and i've had better bolivian food. The waters aren't even cold. I used to come here as a kid when this was a restaurant called Nuestra Bolivia. The only reason I still come is for their salteñas, which unfortunately have gotten very expensive while getting very small. I'll say this- they have the best salteñas I ever had, but their customer service and staff are lacking- you will wait a long time after entering to be acknowledged, their phone line always says "user busy" etc. I would recommend they clean up this aspect out of respect for the community members and long-time patrons that keep them going. read more

This place delivered great customer service which is very important in my own eyes. My host, Pamella, have explained the company's objective with no hesitation. She explained the layout during the nightlife, that wanted to come back ASAP. "Amazing," is my instant reply, when I heard the affordable prices, especially the bottle service. When we ordered the White Russian and Cuba Libre, the menu says they're 10$, and the waitresses don't bother informing you that they're actually 12$ at all. It's ridiculous. Not even an explanation as to why they put you under the impression the drinks are one price when that's not the price anymore. Drinks were good but not worth the wait. Oh Kabu, where shall I begin. I am hesitant to write this due to the fact that the place is a popular spot amongst my beloved Bolivian people. I've heard Kabu mentioned by relatives countless times (due in part to it being the plug for salteñas--which I will get to momentarily), thus I was looking forward to my first time there. First and definitely my last. Be particularly weary of one bartender "Cary," whom spoiled me and my girlfriend's experience there from the very beginning. After being ignored multiple times to order some drinks (the bar was not at all busy, especially given the fact that it was a Sunday afternoon), she proceeded to give me and my girlfriend the snarliest attitude, that we have encountered in all of my time of going to bars in the greater NYC area, after I attempted to correct a discrepancy in prices for a beer ($5 on the menu, I paid $12 for two). Now, granted it's only a 2 dollar difference, which I don't mind at all. But, as a graduate working in the service industry (Panera, Walgreeens, etc), I just couldn't find a reason for her to justify her demeanor after I politely pointed out the differences in price. First impressions are lasting impressions, so thank you "Cary" for leaving one on me of your employer. All in all, the beers were cold, salteñas took over an hour to prepare (which I slightly empathize over as Bolivians love their salteñas on Sundays, yet I can't disregard how puny in size they are) and could be considered average at best. Went here for a friend's bday on a Saturday night. -5$ cover for anyone to get in -3$ PER COAT check -staff (even bouncers) were attentive and respectful -most of the staff only speaks spanish -music is like 70% spanish 30% american edm/pop/hip hop -regardless, music and DJ are very good -bottles start at like 130$ (a large ciroc or grey goose bottle was 130$ tax included) -5$ for all beers -only food they have is this spanish appetizer of mixed snacks; fried plantains, sausage, chicharon, arepa, etc -they have hookah too -not good for big crowds (I would say no bigger than like 6-7 people) because booths are not big and the dancefloor isnt huge either. better for couples or groups for 3-4 friends. honestly, the experience is what you make of it; if you speak spanish and listen to spanish music then it should be a nice time. the place is actually in decent condition. its not too big but not as small as it looks in pictures. but do be careful looking at your check of course. read more

Come here for the food, not the service. Best times to go food are the day light hours. I'm sure the nights are fun, but there isn't enough staff or quality to get to you fast enough. The music was fun, but CHECK YOUR BILL. We ordered two $12 drinks, which totaled $26 and change after tax. When presented our bill, our waitress crossed out the total and wrote $39 on the top of receipt, which she said was with 15% service charge added on. Now, my friends and I were pretty drunk, but we know that 15% would not add up to $39. We let her know, and she brought over a calculator. All four of us watched her punch in "26 x .15" and the calculator said the answer was 3.9. She says "see, $39." And we had to sort of politely correct her, "no... That says 3.9." Are you fucking kidding me? We can only imagine how many drunk people get taken advantage of if this is their way of operating. My friends and I still can't believe this actually happened? This is a cute spot. Very nice inside, i was really surprised for a place in queens. But i do agree with the other person that this does look like a couples spot, although they wasn't all couples only in there but i saw alot. It doesn't matter to me though cause even if you go with a group of friends you'll have a nice time, the lighting in here is cool and i love the fact that it's not super crowded. It really feels like a lounge. You can chill and talk or dance your ass off. The DJ in my opinion was great i went on a Saturday night and he was playing everything and anything you can think of. If I can give them zero stars I would. Security guards were rude and disgusting. I went out with two of my family members and when we wanted to go in they said no. Sure no problem but, the people behind us they were let in at ease. When I asked the security guard any questions why they were let in and we were not. He got nasty and rude. The Positive: The music was enjoyable, the waitresses were attentive, the bathrooms were clean and there was no cover charge. The NEGATIVE: 2 x $10 drinks=$25 because they charge "tax and tip" at the time of EACH order. I know I haven't been out for a while, but is this the new norm? The drinks were soda'd-down, juiced-down or watered-down which is unacceptable. The layout of the place prevents one from enjoying the dance floor. The stools that adorn the sides are uncomfortable for people under a certain height, so they are forced to sit near the entrance away from the dance floor and since the bar is smack dab in the middle of the establishment, they have to abandon their table and drinks each time they get up to dance... or they can dance next to their table (if they aren't shy). Awful staff. Went to this place with two of my friends. After hours of just having fun, dancing, and barely drinking, I was approached by one of the bouncers who told me I had to leave. I asked why and he said I just had to go and that he'd make me go if I didn't start walking towards the door. So I said fine. We went outside and I asked him why he kicked me out of the bar. He said, "Someone said you were sleeping at the bar so I had to bring you outside." Funny, I didn't know you could sleep standing up, because that's what I was doing when he approached me. I told him, "You know I wasn't sleeping." And he and the guy outside said, "Well we're not letting you back inside." I said okay and pulled out my phone to record and take a picture to report them later. The bouncer literally smacks the phone out of my hand and says, "No you're not recording this." I'm thinking, "What the hell??" He goes back inside while I'm getting my phone and another guy (who later reveals he doesn't even work there, he just wanted to mess with me, but apparently he knows the staff) laughs at and argues with me that they're not letting me back in. I, again, try to take a picture and this guy smacks the phone out of my hand. I honestly don't understand why they kicked me out. Was I talking to someone they didn't want me to? Did I look at someone the wrong way? I'll never know. But the fact that they used a flimsy "you were sleeping" excuse leads me to think they didn't want me there for personal reasons. Now, I have been going through a rough time, been dealing with depressing thoughts and anxiety, and I thought just going out with friends to a bar would cheer me up.
