The ambiance is very chill. Last call was at 1:30am pride sunday into Monday. ::bathroom alert:: Disgusting had mold. So glad they dont have to serve food. The drinks are super cheap. I love that the NA beers are only $6. Not too shabby when you wanna hang out with your friends who are drinkers. This place is way smaller than their sister site madem Marie on broadway. This might be the best happy hour in all of Astoria. The $5 happy hour well drink is nearing extinction in this economy, but Judy & Punch is helping it continue to live on. The bar itself is very much dive bar vibes, with a really solid draft beer selection and decent outdoor patio for folks to enjoy during the nicer weather. We were two of four people here when happy hour kicked off and were served right away. Drinks were strong despite it being happy hour, and we appreciated the free popcorn too. The Old Bay seasoning on the hot popcorn straight out of their vintage looking popcorn popper is ::chefs kiss:: I ended up getting another round because why wouldn't you at these prices? We were tempted to stay (or even come back) for trivia night since it was starting in a few hours at 7, but decided to save it for another time. Divey happy hour spot with 0 food and service 100% at the bar. $5 beer, wine, and rail liquor is always nice to see. I took advantage of the happy hour beer selection which included victory brewing and sixpence, not just soulless brews that taste like flavored water. An awesome dive bar that you would typically see in the East Village. The place is laid back and unpretentious. They have a happy hour special with $5 beers, but honestly, it's not even needed. Their beers are regularly $5-$7 as it is. There is a small outdoor seating area at the back as well and the bartender offers free popcorn to everyone. I've been coming here since I've relocated to this side of Astoria. This is such a cool gem in the area. The staff here is so friendly and make you feel welcomed. Came here to write a review about a rude bartender and saw that someone had already written a bad review about the same bartender - the one with glasses and a mustache. I don't expect stellar service from a dive bar, but the extremely straight faced, cold attitude isn't appreciated, especially when there are much better similarly priced bars on the same street. The ambience is cleaner than the typical dive bar, yet not withholding the vibe that you would feel. Everyone is very welcoming and accepting and has a smile on their face. I walked up to the bar and was greeted by Dina, she was patient kind and super fun. I told her I wanted to order the giggle juice, she assured me that it would be tasty, and it was one of their most popular drinks. After I sipped, I clearly knew why. It was the perfect blend of bitter and sweet, with the addition of elderberry. My only complaint is that beer outside of happy hour is a little pricey, but other than that I really like this bar! By the way, happy hour is on weekdays from 4pm to 8pm. It's Madam Maries but with popcorn! (I sure do wish they'd do the hot dogs here, too, though!) Anyway, J&P is an ol' stand-by for me at this rate. They've got a consistent Happy Hour deal every single day. You can get a $5 16 oz. beer, house wine, or well drink before 8PM. My only wish is that they would vary the beer options at both of their locations a bit more. (Then again, I do feel like J&P has more in the way of beer options than MM does.) You can get free popcorn (just ask!) and you can also sit outside in their small patio area. Jukebox for those who want to play their own music. The music isn't that great .. more of a soft techno vibe. We sampled a few glasses of beer ~ all ipa ~ all delish. My friend forgot his phone on a table in the outdoor area but we left around 9:56 (the outdoor area closes at 10). When we got back 20mins later, we asked the bartender if we could check outside.. he let us. The phone was still there! OHHH YEAAA. Came here after brunch on a Saturday as part of my tour de Astoria. It was nice enough out to sit in the back. They have 3 or 4 picnic benches/tables out back. They had a pretty decent beer selection. I started with a Stone enjoy by and had a Mezcal Negroni that was on their specials board. I love mezcal, but if you don't, this might be a good intro. The smoke wasn't overbearing and it was a very well balanced drink. The bartender was very friendly. Plus they server popcorn. The smell alone will keep you in for at least one more drink. On this Tuesday night there was a comfortable crowd. There were definitely seat fillers, but not every seat was taken. We liked the spot, but in our brief visit we didn't experience anything memorable...other than an odd food-burning smell that kept wafting by us out of nowhere since no food was being served. Judy & Punch is our go-to spot for trivia, which is held every Tuesday. The free popcorn, craft selection on tap, and decent, affordable cocktails keep us coming back. Also, although they don't have a menu, they're cool with you bringing food into the bar. One gripe is that I do wish we got partial credit for partial answers (we are only partially smart). On Saturday of this Halloween weekend, I got my first taste of the bar outside of a weeknight. By the time we left, the place was packed, but the crowd was convivial and fun. I have to send a big shout out to the bartender, who was the only person the entire evening to get my costume (chicken cordon bleu...not a totally easy costume to guess, so I was impressed). As for the libations, aside from the craft brews, we enjoyed some of the bar's own peach-infused Bulleit bourbon on the rocks. Really tasty stuff. They have a small outdoor space out back, so this is definitely a good spot for spring, summer or fall, unfortunately none of which is the season that we're heading toward at the moment. read more

I tried this place once and it was ok. Mediocre drinks that are pricey. However, after seeing their lack of being COVID considerate, I'm never going back. They let customers stand around in close proximity without requiring or enforcing masks. So loud, disrespectful, rude and has no concern for slowing the spread. Also, tell your customers to stop blocking the walkway outside!!! There are other INNOCENT pedestrians who need to pass and do not need to suffer COVID because of you. read more

Came here on Saturday night with like 20 people in tow (which later dropped to a more manageable 10-15). It was super crowded, but I guess that's to be expected on a Saturday night in a small, tight-spaced bar. This was the drinks portion of my boyfriend's birthday dinner/drinks gathering and we had been wanting to check this place out for awhile, so this night seemed perfect. I do wish this was a larger bar, but it's not the end of the world, I get that there's nothing they could do about that unless they tore down the place next to them. They have a casual circus theme that is cute, but not too much in your face and they also have complimentary popcorn freshly popping at the bar. I didn't sample it because we had just come from dinner and yours truly was stuffed. Judy & Punch has a creative and uniquely curated list of draft beers and some fun cocktails for folks who don't like beer. I love good beer so that part worked out great for me. I ordered a stout called "Void of Light" from Gun Hill Brewing Company - this is a brewery in the (boogie down) Bronx that has been on my list of breweries to check out for some time. This stout was insanely delicious and definitely one of the better sweet, milky stouts that I've had to date. My friend, Ingrid S., had another type of stout (Route of all Evil by Two Roads Brewing Company) which I also had after they ran out of "Void of Light" that wasn't as good and had some intense hops. Not my fave. I'm really in between 3 and 4 stars because I reeeeeeally wanted to love this place. I had heard so many great things on Yelp and through friends of mine who had been here previously. Eventually the crowd dissipated and I was able to secure the entire back seating area for our group to sit down and finally be able to enjoy a conversation, but not before the group that previously had a part of this area were absolute jerks to me. I wanted to snap a picture of a framed mermaid poster on the wall and I kindly let them know that I wasn't being a creeper or taking photos of them, but instead taking a photo of something behind them. Yeah, I suppose I could have kept shut, but I thought I was being nice by giving them a heads up. Of course that opened the door to 2 of the guys in their group harassing me and taking a photo of me on his cell phone since it would last longer. I regret not taking his phone and smashing it against the wall...I also normally have no problem putting little punks like these in their place, but it was my boyfriend's birthday and I didn't want to A.) ruin it for him or B.) have him get involved because 2 guys are disrespecting his girlfriend - so I took the high road and did my best to not have it sour my night. Gonna go with 3 Yelp stars based on my experience here. I would return if friends planned something here, but it probably wouldn't be because I made plans to. read more

I'm very skeptical when it comes to ordering cocktails in bars like this but I was pleasantly surprised when my "Giggle Juice" turned out to be not too sweet, not too strong but loaded enough for a good buzz after only two rounds. What a cool little dive bar in Astoria! I first came here for happy hour on a Friday while visiting my best friend in NY. She frequents here often so I told her I'd give it a shot. The happy hour prices are pretty solid! From 4-8, wells and wines are $5 and they have select beers for $5 as well. I opted for a decent house cab. The price was right for a generous pour. They have quirky props and posters around the bar and it feels really comfortable for a weirdo like me. The bar popcorn is a nice touch, too. They put an awesome spice on it that made me get seconds.....and maybe thirds. We came back on a Saturday night - not as great. Super packed, impossible to get to the bar, and high prices.
