Blue Point oysters. Superb!
Joe B.

Exceptional happy hour. Great service. We loved our bar host Autumn. She was very personable and helpful. We got a dozen buck-a-shuck Blue Point oysters and wete blown away. Superb! Probably the best oysters we've ever had. They were expertly shucked too. Great atmosphere, elegant but relaxed decor, chill vibe, nice people. This is going to be one of our spots whenever we come to Queens.

OMG this place. Wow. Stopped here for a drink before dinner on Ditmars. Incredible location and inside so tastefully decorated. Our drinks and bartender were amazing!! Happy hour is also fantastic. What a great deal. Will absolutely be back. There's a new server (red hair) she needs to go elsewhere as she was clueless...!!!

I wanted to check this spot out for the longest and so glad I did ! The vibes are unmatched live Jazz music that was actually good and not too loud where you couldn't have a conversation. They don't have a big food variety so don't come here hungry. For drinks and a Vibe check them out.

This was such a nice bar with great drinks. We made it in time for happy hour and there was even an impromptu swing dance class in the back. We had a great experience during our New York visit.

Great vibe - low romantic lighting, comfy seating, and music playing. The service was nice and the servers were helpful in selecting cocktails. We loved the Singed Tulip and Espresso Martini. Both were well crafted and presented beautifully. Check out the updated menu as of November 2024 is in my post.

What a perfect modern yet classic loungy speakeasy. Such great vibes along with impeccable cocktails, great music playlists and the servers really do care and put forward their best effort. Hands down one of the best outside of Manhattan.

Really Wanted to give 3 star but feel bad to the business so I'll give 4 The oyster was so Bad it's not fresh and not good quality feel like it's been shucked for a couples of day before serving This is my first time here on Tuesday night 9/24/24 The cocktail was good like it's supposed to be I got the last word and paper plane ( basically classic ) Service was friendly but a little lack it's fine but it's would be nicer if they come to check about oyster quality I ordered Dozen of Oyster some of them I tasted with out lemon or sauce already tasted bad has some smell to it but some of them it's decent not good not bad but also no flavor anyway. Server didn't ask about how is was so I didn't tell them I was like whatever it's my dumb to order oyster at the bar not seafood places at 11pm Next time I come wouldn't order oyster for sure and keep in mind Credit card charging fee without notice or show in the bill ( not sure is they do I don't think so I think I checked ) Anyway it's would be nicer if they tell me so I'll pay cash Credit card charging is not customer responsibility to pay it's restaurant business so please keep in mind

Came here and got the bean dip to start. Vibes here are on point the place is very nice. Service was prompt and server was good. Just note the bean dip comes with very few veggies and chips so you won't be able to finish it with the amount they give and they charge extra for more. The bees knees drink was very good and was the perfect drink to relax with. If I'm back in the area I'd stop by again

A night out strictly for drinks. Love the vibe. Decor is beautiful. Love a dark atmosphere. Drinks were delicious. The Penicillin. The Last Word. Moscow Mule. We stuck to these drinks throughout our rounds. Server was sweet and attentive. We were able to sit comfortably and catch up without background noise. I'd imagine this would be a chill blind date night place or a romantic evening for two.

I found myself at The Last Word the other night for a colleague's going away gathering. I really like Astoria, but don't find myself in the area as often as I would like. Hence, I was looking forward to trying a new place in the neighborhood while also catching up with my friends. I looked up the place before arriving and saw that it was a cocktail bar, so it seemed like a place that was really up my alley. The Last Word is located on Ditmars, among a number of other businesses. Walking in, you're immediately greeted by a smallish vestibule with some seating areas, but the space is actually quite large and as you keep walking you notice how roomy it actually is. There's a large bar to the left that serves as a focal point, and a combination of booths and chairs that fit a variety of party sizes. The aesthetics were typical of a cocktail bar/lounge: low lighting, warm colors, and an almost vintage aesthetic; it all worked really well. The menu had a good variety of cocktails as well as beer and wine. Additionally, they had a variety of small plates and snacks. We had three rounds, and I was able to try their spiked hot cocoa, sidecar, and junglebird. All three drinks were quite good - my favorite was the junglebird for both flavor combination and aesthetic reasons. The spiked hot cocoa was also a standout, stronger than I expected but good nonetheless. We also got a lot of snacks: garlic and white bean dip, two flatbreads, bruschetta, a Belgian warm pretzel, anticuchos (beef skewers), empanadas (combo of beef, pork, and cheese), a charcuterie board, and the TLW party of two which was kind of a sampler tower. All the food was tasty - I wouldn't call anything a destination worthy, but it was all good quality and perfect to nosh on between sips. Service was awesome, and really what pushed this experience into the 5-star tier for me. From the moment I walked in I was greeted by the host (whose name escapes me - I wanna say Lucas but can be totally off) who really set the tone for the entire night. Our server was also really great, on top of everything and made sure that we were always taken care of. Overall, I had a great experience at The Last Word. I was feeling the vibe, they had great drinks, and excellent service; I would definitely return.

Do you really walk through the hardware store?

The place is pretty large despite it looking somewhat narrow outside but there's a lot of seating inside as well as some seating outside in the case the place gets crowded, fortunately I didn't have to worry about that. Credit to the service, two waitresses went above and beyond their duty to made sure I had a satisfactory time at their Restaurant and I will always give credit where it's due to the wait staff doing a solid job. Even though I'm giving this place a 5 star rating, there were two small grievances. I did have to wait for some time for my food to get to my plate, like an almost 15 minute wait, but for what it's worth, the food was solid. The other one, which was a small annoyance was that the empanadas I ordered along with the Pollo A La Brasa were forgotten and if I hadn't brought that to the waitresses attention, I would've went without my appetizers. They did make it up by giving me a complimentary margarita. I do appreciate the gesture, but I'm not a strong drinker, I'm a lightweight and after one sip of that, it was powerful enough to almost knock me out. I tried to endure it but I only finished half of that before giving up. Despite that, just the show of them caring for the customer is enough for me to know that they value their patrons here. That's more than enough for me. I like the vibe of the place, it has a Latin fusion feel but majority of their food is affordable. I'd make a 2nd visit here in due time.

Food: 9/10 Space: 3/10…read moreVibes: 10+++ Don't be like me and get blindsided by the loud music and tight space. But I should already know that chill and Steinway never mix--ever. Our group came here to celebrate a happy occasion with such good vibes, so the vibes were definitely off the charts. The little "dance floor" they carved out in the middle barely suffices as one, but I guess they really made do with what they had. They definitely try to overpack this place to the max. Food was amazing, though. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share, like the yuca corquettes (probably my favorite), coconut shrimp, shrimp ceviche, guac, and the tostones rellones. They were all so, so good and not overly expensive, that we made another order of everything. My drink (Mori Sanado) was very good and came with a cute fish-shaped glass. It's an overstimulating place, to say the least, so I'd mentally prepare for that alone. Since we came on a Saturday night, it was expected that it was a party vibe but I expect it's the same during brunch. You really do have to come with good company to be able to slightly enjoy this place. I wouldn't come here with people that I expect to have a conversation with, because you really can't hear anything.

Ordered 2 Happy hour drinks in a classic flavor, received both, and a check for 1 HH drink and 1 "classic margarita" for $14 Tip already included and unfortunately I ran to the bathroom or I would've only paid for what I ordered and not what they charged me for. The food was nonexistent, the service bad, and the ambiance was lacking! Do so much better! No thumbs for Boske, will not return. I do NOT recommend.

The bar itself is very much dive bar vibes, with a really solid draft beer selection and decent outdoor patio for folks to enjoy during the nicer weather. We were two of four people here when happy hour kicked off and were served right away. Drinks were strong despite it being happy hour, and we appreciated the free popcorn too. The Old Bay seasoning on the hot popcorn straight out of their vintage looking popcorn popper is ::chefs kiss:: I ended up getting another round because why wouldn't you at these prices? We were tempted to stay (or even come back) for trivia night since it was starting in a few hours at 7, but decided to save it for another time. Really a gem of a bar in Astoria, 10/10 no notes.
