I typically get sushi at Kabuki, but yesterday I opted for a new item on the lunch menu: Curry Yaki Udon. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't what I was expecting. I have hoping for a spicy red curry-like dish. This dish had a sweeter flavor with added spice. There wasn't an initial kick, but as you continued to eat it, you could feel the mild heat. The Udon noodles were nice and chewy, but the sauce didn't do it for me. I enjoy Kabuki for their sushi and hibachi. I don't think I'll deviate from my typical menu choices next time. read more

I really love the sushi here. The hibachi is good too, but I come here for the very fresh and delicious hand rolled sushi. If i could give this zero stars i would. The soup was weird and cold, my salad was wet,my sushi was warm. The noodles and rice both tasted like they were made from play-doh. The chicken had a funny taste they thought they could cover with sauce. For 107 dollars my family got stuck on toilets for a day. I dont expect them to stay open much longer. The hibachi is always good there and so is the sushi. The staff is a little abrupt and impatient. The waitress was removing the plates very quickly and almost dropped a plate on my hand at one point. She was like that for the entire night. The hibachi chef was really annoying. I don't mind cheering and having fun... But he was banging his tools incessantly in a steady motion and it was so loud! We were sitting in the farthest corner of the restaurant and we couldn't hear each other because of the constant noise. He was extremely immature and did not care that he was ruining the experience of the other patrons. We looked over at him a few times... And he thought it was funny and kept doing it. Overall, the food is good, but the hibachi chef was disruptive and the waitress needed to take a month long class in customer service. The 3 stars go to the food. read more

I always enjoy my experience here a lot. I usually just order appetizers, because the entrees are a bit pricey. But the gyoza (chicken potstickers) is extremely delicious, and the various veggie rolls I have tried are always good. The host smiled at my young son and gave him a small candy from the dish, making him feel welcome, and my waiter was nice enough to humor me with my poor Japanese. The one thing about Kabuki is the consistency. This time however, the hibachi chef almost seemed like he didn't want to be there. Went on Sunday July 17,2016 Ordered strip steak and swordfish, another ordered strip steak w/shrimp. Plates came to the table with fried rice and noodles. Steak was just several pieces cut and were very tough and dry. AWFUL !!! Rice and noodles didn't have anything in them. No green onion or veggies in them,,,just PLAIN !!! Portions were child like. $ 20.99 each. Swordfish was thin and dry, I suspect frozen. We were the only customers, walked in about 7:30. Now that even a few days have passed I'm still mad that I didn't speak up more. Service was not that good either. Just a job to the server, no interaction. read more

I'm giving this place 3 stars because I have eaten here before and their hibachi is excellent. My husband and i never eat at the hibachi table, just a regular table. However, tonight we wanted suchi. First off, we walked in and omg was it hot. The temp on my phone was 87 degrees. It was a very hot night here in NEPA. We sat at the bar. Behind the bar was the digital thermostat. The three thermostats were at 82 degrees! Anyway, we were already there so we figured we would stay. After deciding what we want we ordered. I got a avacado salad and 2 rolls and my husband just got the rolls. First, my salad ended up coming out at the exact time my husband's sushi came out. Then they brought my sushi. By this time i was basically sweating so bad i has swamp ass and a sweat mustache. It was very uncomfortable in there. My husbands sushi was topped with slimy eel which was not like eel should be and the sweet potato in my roll was like deep fried and greasy. My other roll had deep fried calamari in it and it was super tough, not like good calamari should be. By the time I got to my 4th piece I was so sick, I think because I was so hot, I could not finish eating. I have to say, my salad was good. Thank god. And another thing, I agree with everyone else that the manager was not a nice person and constantly yelling at the staff. He didn't seem very happy either. From now on, I think I'll stick to my favorite sushi place of all time, over in the summit. read more

This is my favorite Japanese restuarant to eat. But, last week I placed an order for pickup which took 10 minutes for the hostess to get right over the phone. So i went to pick it up and they couldnt find it. They realized they gave it to someone else. I didnt have no problem assuming they were going to cook me 2 new meals and maybe not charge me for one of them. Well he has me pay for the food and says it will be another minute or two. Well did i realize that he had the person he gave my food to bring it back and just gave me that and it being cold already. Well they wouldnt refund me the money cause they said I had the food. Very clean, good customer service, nice staff and the owner is very friendly. I've been going here for years for hibachi and sushi and I love it here. The portions are bigger than most Japanese places, the food is always fresh and always taste great. They are also by far the cheapest Japanese restaurant in the greater Scranton area. Wide variety of sushi and a great menu. Trust me you won't be disappointed. The week sushi lunch specials are an insane good deal too. 3 rolls and a soup or salad for $13...: can't beat it read more

Something is horribly wrong with their service... Hard to say because we once loved it.... First off experience. My best friend and her sister came to town with their kids. Hibachi is always a great time, thought the kids would love it... We made reservations for a full table. We all ordered hibachi grill meals + sushi appetizers... The service was terrible. Our chef could not be bothered, he literally cooked the food in front of us and walked away. Not the experience we wanted our kids to have for their first experience. Truly disappointed, I actually mentioned it to our waitress.. Hoping maybe he would come back out and do something interesting with eggs or onions, nothing. Lesson learned, no more hibachi at kabuki. Second disappointment... All we wanted was sushi take out. Easy. Ordered several times before, easy order..we are not sushi experts here. 3 rolls tops. 45 minutes until close. We were placed on hold for 10 minutes only for the waitress to come back on the line to say " no, we tired. Going home early ". What???? You're tired and going home early??? The food was very good .. needless to say we will never step foot in there again .. we had a reservation for 6 PM sat down at 6:10 ... immediately handed menus and had to order without even really looking at the menu... we got our soup and salad at the same time.. halfway through the meal they brought the check we told him we weren't ready they took the check back to back , within five minutes brought the check back and then brought takeout containers for us.. Which we never asked for because we weren't even done eating... and they put the takeout container right on top of my friends food while he was eating!!! All we wanted to do was go out for a nice relaxing birthday dinner with friends... it was terrible... The worst service I've ever seen...
