The waitstaff were very knowledgeable about the dishes and gave GREAT recommendations. So there is this whole blend of cuisines and diversity going on! Locals and tourists started to come in by 6pm on a weeknight! The food is solid in terms of rolls etc. (But it is not going to be exceptional.) I'm spoiled by great sushi in the NJ/NYC area, so this is the context in which this review will be written..It was just ok. We got the Sushi for 3 and two of us were still hungry afterwards. Not like it's their fault we're big backs..just an observation lol. The sushi was fresh-ish, nothing offensive, but just not up to par with what we're used to at home. Very decent Korean and sushi restaurant in the area. I wasn't expecting much when searching up Asian food to eat in the area and found this place to have pretty good reviews. It didn't disappoint. The entire restaurant was humble but lovely. I liked the cozy interior, the selection of food was great, and the wait staff were friendly, experienced, and efficient. The sushi wasn't bad. The rice to filling ratio was good (there wasn't too much rice), and I thought the rice was cooked perfectly (it was on the firmer side, which I like). We ordered the Dragon Roll, Tiger Dragon Roll, Eel Avocado, Salmon Avocado, Salmon Dragon Roll. They were all good and as expected. Love that they have several combo sushi menu items like "2 rolls," "2 rolls and 1 special roll," "2 special rolls," etc. We also ordered the Avocado Bomb appetizer, which wasn't bad. It had a lot of sauce, and anyone who likes special sushi rolls (which usually come with more sauce) or California Rolls would love this. It's basically a California Roll without the rice and seaweed. We also ordered a hot stone bibimbap, which wasn't bad but wasn't great, I'd say. The rice like the sushi rice was cooked perfectly, but the whole rice dish felt like it was missing some key flavors even after having the gochujang sauce mixed in. I think it was because the veggies weren't pickled veggies, and it was lacking some seasame oil that bibimbaps usually have. The Bulgogi beef was normal/good though. Not the worst bibimbap I've had, but could've been better. It was still satisfying, and it came in a good portion. The LA Galbi also wasn't bad, but it was pretty salty / had a bit too much sauce for my liking. Not the best, but also not the worst galbi I've tried. Overall, I had a very satisfying meal here, and I would definitely return if I ever was in the area. The staff really are homely, and everything (the staff, ambiance, food quality and selection) just made for a comfortable dining experience. read more

I really wanted to enjoy the food here, despite some of the reviews. I unfortunately was disappointed. We ordered Ramyun with added beef and bibimbap in a stone pot. The Ramyun noodles literally taste like it came out of an intant to go packaging coupled with a little packet of dust artificial flavoring. The bibimbap was dry and bland. It taste was equivalent to frozen ingredients left out to thaw at room temperature without any spices. I've had my share of bibimbap (mostly from Flushing and Korean Town in New York) so I have a fair expectation for it's crunchy and luscious, sweet and spicy with hints of pickled and fermented flavors. This didn't come close. The wait staff on the other hand were super attentive and friendly, for that reason alone we left a hefty tip. The building may be a throwback to the cheesy 70s of the Poconos, but it is all Korean and Japanese when it comes to meals. I ordered sushi and was thrilled with their version of the Philadelphia roll (salmon, cream cheese, and avocado). However, none of the sushi I had purchased really stood out. I was looking forward to mackerel sashimi, but it was dry and seemed to be oddly smoked in some way. I think the rating for this place depends on what you order. The spicy pork dolsot bibimbap was pretty good with a little gochujang sauce. The rice was crispy on the bottom. The soy garlic wings were also crispy and the sauce was great. Those were 4 stars. The ramen with pork tonkatsu literally tasted like it was instant ramen from a package and the pork tonkatsu was dry and some pieces had a soury taste. That was a 1 star. read more

Story: we were heading home from Kalahari and everyone was hungry. I did not want to eat here but everyone else in our group voted for sushi. The place did have good Google reviews overall but I chalked those up to being written mostly by rural bums (also coming from the nearby Kalahari resort) who just didn't know any better. Well, as soon as I walked in the boss was very clearly Korean. I was like heol, maybe I'm not gonna get duped (at least in regards to their Korean food.) And yes-- the Yukgaejang, sundabu, and bibimbap were on point; the japchae was a bit soggy but otherwise good. I was more pleasantly surprised by how fresh all the sashimi was (totally didn't expect it from a spot that was a bit far from the coast!) We were a largish party consisting of mostly kids. They were their usual hellion selves (utensil drumming, loud talking, etc.) and I was a bit worried that I'd get an earful from one of the servers. We got none of that! Just a brief warning when one of them climbed on a chair. I didn't get any "grrr kids" vibe from anyone here and I'm very grateful for that. Sorry about that again! In regards to pricing-- it was exactly what I'm used to but I was kinda hoping that a little stop along the highway was going to be cheaper than NYC's midtown. 2.5 stars Ordered a bunch of rolls with some special rolls and couple of hand rolls. Bottom line, the fish was not fresh, very dry and chewy. The bbq special roll was ok and the shrimp tempura rolls are also not bad. But I don't recommend anyone going for their sashimi. read more

Let me preface this by saying I was not expecting anything from an Asian restaurant in the Poconos. The other Asian options we experimented with this weekend were all Chinese take outs. Surprisingly, the Korean food at Kimchi and Wasabi (formerly known as Satto Sushi) tasted really authentic! The kalbi tang (short rib soup) had the right amount of spice and was perfectly salted. Honestly, one of the better kalbi tangs I've had even by NYC standards. My friends all agreed as well! I also got the sushi platter for three which came with four rolls and 25 pieces of nigiri. This was okay, but it definitely wasn't bad by any means. Their gyeran jjim (steam eggs) was also well seasoned, and you could really taste the sesame oil. My only very smol complaint would be that the kimchi served as banchan had no fermented flavor to it. Otherwise, this place is a solid pick for Asian food and is much appreciated in the area! read more

My husband and I visited Kimchi & Wasabi for lunch on a quiet weekday around opening time. Our server was appeared immediately and quickly brought corn tea and water. I ordered the bibimbap from the lunch menu and my husband ordered the bulgogi. Both were flavorful and large portions. (Note that if you want the crispy rice that makes bibimbap really special, your need to order the dinner size portion.) It's strange going into the old Amber Inn for Korean food, especially since we were there 3-5 times a week in the mid-late 80s!!! But alas the Amber is no more, though its spirit remains in the not much-changed interior, down to the stained glass bearing the former name. We were very promptly greeted and seated. Note this place is a BYO, so no cocktails (extra strange considering how many we used to imbibe there). So soft drinks were in order- my husband was disappointed when the iced tea came in a bottle of Pure Leaf vs fresh brewed, but our terrific server suggested he try a canned green tea instead which was apparently good because he had two! Kimchi and radish offered immediately upon being seated, and replenished promptly when we quickly finished. Husband got sushi - his usual sushi order. We shared the K-Pop soy garlic wings, joking that we are a perfect couple since he prefers the flats and I prefer the drumsticks LOL. The wings were very crispy and the sauce was savory. I ordered the Yook Gae Jang after consulting with the knowledgeable server regarding the Korean specialties. It was delightfully spicy and well-loaded with shredded beef, scallions and other ingredients, plus a side of rice to add. Would get this again. Husband had the beef udon, which Insampled and the noodles were heavenly and hearty. Food was well-prepared and came out very quickly, which was ok for us since we weren't looking to spend a long evening out. Our server was fabulous and I regret that I did not get her name. Came here while on vacation in the Poconos! Solid asian food spot. I ordered sushi rolls - I would say the regular rolls are def more worth it than specialty rolls as they are cheaper and they contain about the same amount of ingredients. We also got wings - not your traditional korean fried wings. They were less crispy but the flavor was there. My boyfriend also got bibambap which was pretty good as well. A decent Korean restaurant for the Poconos. I did indoor dining with a party of 4 altogether. The seating area is sort of cozy, with a little fireplace inside. They start you off with kimchi and radish for the table. We got the LA Galbi to share and for individual entrees, we got Kimchi Jigae, Dduk Guk, Yaki Udon, and Sul Lung Tang. The LA Galbi was very tasty and was a great choice for a starter. The soups had just the right amount of heat and was very flavorful as well. I did wish the Kimchi Jigae had a little more pork though. This restaurant also does offer Japanese and American food on their menu but I was a little skeptical so I can't really comment on how those taste. Overall, if you're in the area and craving some Korean dishes like their soups, I'd recommend. read more

The food here is awesome, which is not surprising since its owned by the same people who own Satto's. The chef sent over four amazing varieties of kimchi with our meal, each one different and delicious. He also gave us a free appetizer of cyernan jjim, steamed fluffy eggs, that was absolutely delicious. We ordered two different bibimbap dishes which are served in a hot stone bowl. And when I say hot, I mean, DON'T TOUCH THE BOWL. It crisps up the bottom layer of rice adding a crunchy element to the layered dish. We had the beef and the short rib, both were excellent. Finding authentic Korean food in the Poconos is a major score in itself, but finding one with food this good is even better. Can't wait to return and sample more dishes. read more

We've come here two years in a row when we take the kids to Kalahari for spring break. Great food and great service both times! I'm honestly not really sure how this unassuming spot in the middle of nowhere pulls off both Korean and Japanese food so well, but they do, and the place was filled with Asian customers when we were there, so it must be legit.
