    Good food

We really wanted sushi but the places we'd beenliked were closed. We searched online for a replacement and Kabuki came up. We gave it a try and we're glad we did. We ordered the Tuna nigiri as well as the Spicy scallops, Edmonton and California rolls. They were all really good and judging by the place as we walked it, they were surprisingly good. The atmosphere is nice but it isn't high-end. Images of dessert taped to the wall usually helps a place stay grounded. Overall, we liked it a lot. Prices were fine. If we lived closer it could be our go-to place.

Time for an updated review, seeing their prices have gone up since I last reviewed. Tuesdays and Thursdays are great times to dine in; there are dine in specials on Monday (Shrimp Tempura), Tuesday (Love Boat), Thursday (Dragon Eye Roll special) and Friday. They have recently changed their menu. The restaurant wasn't busy tonight. It is very kid friendly, with high chair(s). There are no change tables but there is a table in the bathroom. The kids love miso soup, tempura and the yaki udon. If you ordered the bento boxes, miso soup comes with it. So, it was economical to order bento boxes and let the kids eat off our plates while we each had a small serving of sashimi with Bento Box B pption. Dinner for 4 came to around $72 (two bento boxes and 2 dragon eye rolls) after taxes and gratuity, so it is a nice place to go to for special occasions or when you are in the mood for good Japanese food.

Great place. Excellent customer service. Decent prices. Very tasty and super fresh. Not as good looking ambience but we went for sushi not for fancy decor. Oilers roll and salmon tempura our favourites.

We stumbled upon this place almost by accident... we were driving in from the airport and wanted to stop at the Hong Kong Bakery a few doors down. We were hungry and decided to try this on a whim... and we were blown away. The value vs. quality here is top notch. An amazing meal at a very reasonable price. I was in the mood for soup (I'm in the mood for soup 99% of my waking hours) and ordered the Chicken Udon combo which came with 3 pieces of sushi. I think it was about $12 and it literally could not have been better. Heather ordered a dinner box (bento box) and shared with me, it was amazing as well. Everything was fresh and tasty. The place itself is very unassuming from the outside, nice and clean inside though not overly fancy. The waitress was awesome. Not in our hood, but we look forward to going back when we are on the southside. A true gem.

Wow!! What a wonderful little sushi restaurant!! I love sushi, so finding delicious sushi joints in edmonton has been my goal. We all know that it'll never be as good as Vancouver sushi or sushi in Asia, but Kabuki definitely comes extremely close!! Their sushi tastes fresh and their rice is perfectly cooked! Portion sizes are decent and their menu, though not ridiculously large, has all the go to items and staples to make for a great sushi restaurant! They have ample vegetarian options as well. Every day is a different special (Except it looks like Wednesday's and the weekends) and their prices are decent for what you get! The atmosphere is cosy and this is a wonderful place to catch up with friends or learn more about someone on a first date ;) out waitress was friendly and food came out pretty fast! I can probably say that this is my favourite sushi place in edmonton! Come here, you will not be disappointed!!

It took awhile for the waitress to notice that we've been waiting in the restaurant to be seated. The restaurant was a small cozy setting, dim lighting, clean and well organized. The Special throughout the week are appealing. No Specials for the weekend. We wanted to try a few things here to see how the food was like. The Beef Udon had a good broth, the beef was tender, and the udon was cooked al dente. It was satisfying for an afternoon lunch. My sister enjoyed the Avocado roll. It was simple and refreshing. I had the Hungry Roll. It was really greasy and the rice was too crunchy and it was sticking to my teeth. I didn't find the fish fresh for the Tuna Roll. But we did enjoy our tea and it was refilled several times for us which we really appreciate. We weren't too impressed with the food this time around.

Favourite sushi of mine, Dragon Eyes.

Sushi! This by most is the best tasting sushi. I've tasted other sushi places. Highly recommend this place for a taste. Food is very presentable, and delicious. Dine in space is average. The background music is pleasant with Asian music. Washrooms are fairly well kept. Waitress was great. Timing of the food to come out was good but than again it wasn't busy when I first came in. I'll definitely be back for more. I'd say definitely recommended for dates. Parking is crammed but the food won me over.

Another good sushi place in Edmonton. We ordered the nigiri combo and Katsu Don. I love my nigiri combo. It comes with 2 spicy scallop, 2 Toro, 2 eels and 2 Yellow tails sushis. All my favourite sushis are included in that combo. Everything is fresh with fair prices. Only thing I may wanna deduct some points of this place is the outlook of the restaurant.

Solid Sushi. Great prices on the Loveboat on the Tuesday. They did great things with their Tuna. Lots of parking. The service was so so, and it's connected to a golfzon and "massage parlour". Worth going on Tuesday for their special, but not a destination place.

Ika Karage, Toro/Unagi Sushi, Yakidori Came here because i was an hour early for dinner, and was super hangry. The Ika (squid) Karage had a thick batter and was really crispy but leaned over to the greasy side. The ika itself was just ok, a little tough for my liking, but whatever I still ate it. Toro and unagi sushi was pretty standard, nothing overly great or overly depressing about it. Yakidori is grilled chicken and green onion on a skewer. Was hoping for a thick piece of green onion than these pathetic pieces that I was given, it made the onion an afterthought. Also thought the skewer was over sauced, a paintbrush of sauce would've been fine but in this case pouring a cup of sauce on 2 sticks of meat seemed like the move. it was not. Located on Calgary trail next to the Domo, this place is just aight. Service was quick and interior was nice. Capitalize on the fact that it's right next to a virtual golf if that's your thing. Besides that this place is mediocre at best. Sal says: Just Try It

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday they have something 50%off. I think the price is quit fair. But one thing that no good is the rice for the sushi not really good though. Just like the Normal Chinese rice, don't like the sushi stinky rice. But the dinner dox, I think that really good. The beef in the box was wonderful. Love it so much !!!! This time I order one spicy salmon roll, dragon eye roll and dinner dox b.

    blazing unagi roll - $15.95
    Thewongsibs ..

Such a cute sushi restaurant! We love going here after work (which is around 5 so we beat the dinner rush!) The ambiance is super nice and the decor is absolutely fabulous! Can I just say that the grilled octopus ($10.95) IS FREAKING AMAZING. Each time they give us a little less than before, but let's just blame economy nowadays. THE SAUCE IS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Perfect bit of spice. Mama Wong swears its just sriracha with probably japanese mayo LOL. We recommend the norwegian mackerel ($10.95) or salmon collar and head ($11.95) over the alaskan black cod ($15.95). Best bang for your buck. Although they're all very delicious! Brother Wong's favourite is the blazing unagi roll ($15.95) which is absolutely and literally LIT. Not only is the fire part an amazing thing to watch, but the eel is so soft and delicious. It practically melts in your mouth. And of course, he always needs the seaweed salad ($5.50) to go with his sushi. It was pretty standard, nothing special. The oiler's roll ($14.95) and energy roll ($12.95) is also super good if you want to give it a try! Well, tbh, we ordered the oiler's roll purely based on Edmonton pride, but it was wroth it. Sister Wong's favourite is baked salmon roll ($12.95) or the spider roll ($14.95). The portions are pretty good, but lately we've been noticing that its been getting less and less. Which to be honest is super disappointing. They do give out fantastic green tea candies afterwards though! And the actual green tea is always wonderfully warm and pleasant. Besides the shrinking portions, the staff is relatively okay. Not the best service but not the worst!

Wow fresh and clean, great service and good food. Definately will come back! They have specials each day of the week that are 50%. Mondays are shrimp tempura (6pcs), Tuesdays are Love Boat , Wednesdays are Dragon Eye Rolls, Thursdays are Beef Tataki.

And after our dinner, this place will be pretty difficult to beat. We came here for our anniversary dinner. My boyfriend put in a reservation earlier, and once we arrived we were seated pretty quickly. It was a Monday night but I was so surprised at how packed the place was. This was our first time here so the server explained how ordering on the slip works. Wait time wasn't terrible. And like I mentioned before, this place was so packed and full of people. All the servers that night were weaving through aisles, delivering food, and taking orders. They were all hustling. Food was delicious. We started off with a couple of rolls like California Rolls, Avocado, Tuna, Salmon, and Tamago. The sushi rolls were pretty small, but I didn't have a problem with it. Since it's AYCE, I knew that we'd have much more food coming. I was very impressed by the quality of fish. It tasted very fresh. Also we ordered the seared Beef Nigiri and that was delicious. We ended up ordering more of that later. For the next round, we ordered Edamame, Beef (? it was like a beef galbi cut but I forgot the name of it on the menu), Chicken Skewers, Green Onion Cake, and Tempura. For our Tempura veggies we chose pumpkin, yam, and eggplant. I loved the tempura. It was definitely a highlight of the night. The batter was very crispy, light, and all the tempura came out hot. It was wonderful. We ended up getting more after the first round of tempura because it was too good. The Chicken Skewers were phenomenal. My boyfriend and I were saying that if we had the Chicken Skewers with rice, that would just be enough. The flavor of the sauce was great: savory, slightly sweet, it was reminiscent of a teriyaki flavor for me. And lastly, we had the BC Roll, Alberta Roll, Crunchy Roll, Philadelphia Roll, the seared Beef Nigiri again, and a few other rolls. At this point of the dinner we barely had any steam left but somehow we managed. Every single we thing we ate was just amazing. I wasn't disappointed by anything we ordered actually it was just great. I will say the Crunchy Roll had this smokiness that scratched my brain in the best way possible and I was so impressed by that bite. This was such an unforgettable experience and the best place we've spent our anniversary haha. 10/10, take my money. To Sushi Toshi, I'll be thinking about you.

So this review is a bit late but thought I should still write it as my Dad (who only ever really…read moreenjoys eating steak and potatoes or sometimes a pizza) thought this was a good enough restaurant to return to. So what made it that great that my dad would give it such a high review? First, if you've never seen an advertisement for this place, prepare yourself for ongoing talking and some well rehearsed comedy from the chefs. There literally is a live cooking show being done with your meals right in front of you. This combination of humour and meal prep was a big hit for my family (the 5 of us were constantly commenting on how things were being cooked, what was new to us and encouraging the ongoing trials of the fork toss plus the salt and pepper tossing trick by the chef). Second, it might be a Japanese place but they have steak! You may have guessed with my intro but that was an important decision factor in choosing a restaurant. We wanted a different place for the early Christmas family gathering but something everyone could enjoy. Third, they're very diligent about respecting allergies. My sister-in-law gets very ill with her allergies. So it's nice not having to worry. They set her food specifically on one area of the grill and no other food was ever placed there. Hers was never combined with the rest of ours either. They also had a different soup for her to enjoy and did a vinaigrette on her salad instead of the house dressing. The food itself is a decent price for a fine dining experience and what you get with the dinner. There's soup, salad, grilled shrimp, grilled veggies and whatever you choose as your main. All with great flavour and you get two different dipping sauces - one being better for meat and other with vegetables. Obviously if you select the options of more seafood to accompany the main piece of the meal, the price is more expensive. We all kept it pretty simple. Two with shrimp dinners, two with New York steaks and one with teriyaki beef. We were all quite happy with our portions and if you feel you need extra rice, they will bring more out. If you have saved a bit of room, there's lots of dessert options too but that comes with an additional price. I really was quite happy with that large selection of mocktails to try but for those that want it, there's a large selection of mixed alcoholic drinks, wine, beer, etc. The place is accessible from the outside doors to the grill tables and even though my brother struggles to see in dim lighting, there's enough random lighting that we found a well lit spot at the table for him. I liked that I didn't have to watch for random levels or steps. There are a few booths throughout the restaurant for those that maybe want a more secluded meal but there's no grills for those spots. So after such a glowing review, why am I only giving it 4 stars? Well as I had booked ahead of time and specifically gave a number of 5 people for the reservation, it would have been nice to know we would not have anything started to be cooked, nor our meal order taken until they fill the rest of the table around the grill. If I had that information, I could have easily invited a couple of friends to join. However as this came to us as surprise, it meant even though we didn't know who was joining us, we were forced to awkwardly wait over 15 min to have them arrive and then start giving our order when they were ready. At least some of the drinks had made it out by then but the place was starting to fill up so the noise level was increasing. Luckily for us my mom randomly know the couple that was sat at our grill table but there were parts of the dinner you could tell they would have enjoyed having their own time as a couple (as I'm quite sure they weren't informed they'd be part of a bigger table being that they were surprised that my mom thanked them for arriving on time so we can now order when they are ready). It would have also been a different experience for my family too without the combined table situation. I had to remind the chef who's steak was being prepared due to the over eager guy wanting a well done steak the same time as a medium rare... Things eventually got served to everyone but only because I spoke up, I was able to get near to what I had requested (glad that my dad at least got his medium rare) even though everyone had reconfirmed orders when the chef was placing the meat on the grill. Lastly, the noise in the restaurant was so high at the end of our meal that not only did my dad stop trying to have a conversation but so did the rest of us. So instead of savouring dessert, I ate it quickly as all I wanted was to pay the bill fast and just leave the noise. I've gone once before on a week night back in April and it was more manageable for noise level. This being due to not all grills were full nor was the restaurant as full.

I didn't even know Sherwood Park has a Japanese Village and I hadn't been to one in about 15 years. We had 14 in our group but this wasn't an issue as we were all able to all sit around two grills with two grill cooks. Our server did a great job of taking our drink orders, filling up our water glasses and making sure we were happy. I personally started with a pint of their house beer and the Tuna Sashimi. Both were tasty. For my main course I had Teppan - Yaki Dinner (Teriyaki Chicken) It came with soup, salad and green tea. Our grill cook was a nice young man who brought a smile to our face and kept us chuckling. For the value, I was happy with my meal, the price I payed and the fun interacting with our cook. I would definitely go back with a group of friends.

Wow! This is one of the best sushi places I think I've ever had and there are a lot of great places…read moreI've tried in the Edmonton area. An ad for this had come up on my instagram a few months ago. I had bookmarked this to try out one of these days as the food looked good and I also heard good things about it. As my friend and I had plans in Leduc I figured it would be nice to stop here for dinner. I like how their booths are all private. There is a call button in the booth so that you can ring them anytime you need service. They also have the wifi password taped onto the wall in the both. The service was very prompt as soon as we pressed the button someone arrived within 1 minute. The staff was very kind and attentive. The restaurant wasn't very busy for a Saturday night which was kind of nice. They have a pretty decent sized menu with a variety of options. I love how they have photos of each roll and list which rolls are fully cooked and which ones aren't. We ordered the sexy mexican roll, volcano roll, and the scallop extravaganza. All were delicious! The fish was very fresh as was the rice. Each roll was a good size and packed with flavour. The price was pretty on par with all sushi places. Although I didn't order this, the tempura pieces were massive from the orders I saw that went out. This is definitely a place I'll become a regular at. They have two locations (Edmonton south and Leduc)
