My cousin recommended this place and did not disappoint! The rolls were huge and the sashimi were a lot and the price is very reasonable! It's a family owned! The staff were really friendly and helpful! They're closing on October 8th for some minor remodeling! Thank goodness that it was open when we were in town! I would definitely come back here again and try other entrees!

I have lived in the area for 10 years and cannot believe it took me that long to realize what a gem this place is! I've ordered take out a few times and it is SO MUCH BETTER than the other top rated places I've frequented. Everything is just so fresh and the ratios of everything inside the rolls always seems so perfect. Highly recommend this place! The staff are incredibly friendly, and there's always a lovely note in the take out order.

Yokozuna is one of my favourite sushi restaurant in the city! The exterior of the restaurant looks a little off putting but the inside of the restaurant is modern and comfortable. Food is fresh, flavourful and delicious! The sushi rolls are packed with fish which is nice! We got the tuna tacos which had a little bit to much lemon seasoning in the guacamole making it a bit sour. My favourite roll is the black dragon roll! It has eel, shrimp tempura, avocado, with spicy mayo. It is BOMB! If you are going to try something here you should def try the black dragon roll. Sashimi is fresh, served on a bed of ice. They cut the sashimi super thick! Eat bite leaves you satisfied :)!! Great place for the sushi lovers and date night!!!

Excellent! I came here tonight for my birthday dinner and I must say the food was amazing and quite fresh. The staff were wonderful making the service outstanding. I would highly recommend this place.

Love the family feel of Yokozuna. The staff are very friendly and the food is delicious. I prefer coming here as opposed to a trendier location. Having lived in Vancouver I know that sushi and other Japanese foods aren't trendy - they are food. Delicious foods, and they don't need to be charged a huge premium. Yokozuna is a fantastic location, clean and elegant with private family rooms if you wish, and delicious high quality food.

Finally got to try this place. A lot of my friends say this is the "best in town". It's definitely up there. First the decor, it's a beautiful restaurant. Definitely takes you to Japan, and the service was really good. Now onto the food, I was quite impressed, we had a nice mix of appetizers rolls and sashimi. The Beef Tataki was done thin and very nice. The sashimi was the star here. Tuna and toro. Huge slices, so the portions were very nice. I usually don't get rolls but we did the dragon eye, which is a deep fried hot roll, negitoro and dynomite. They were all well done and the presentation was nice. It's a bit pricy here, but definitely in the high end in this city. Would place it just under Japonaise. Will be back!

Unfortunately in Edmonton, we do not have a large number of great Japanese restaurants to choose from. I always miss the quality we experience from cities such as Vancouver or San Francisco. However, if you're looking for a quick fix to satisfy your sushi craving, Yokozuna definitely makes it onto my Top 10 list of Japanese restaurants in Edmonton. We started off with the Geso Age, Assorted Tempura, and Yokozuna Garlic Tuna. The batter on the Geso Age and Tempura was light, crispy, and fried to perfection. Sadly, we were not a big fan of the Yokozuna Garlic Tuna. I love garlic, but the garlic chips completely overpowered the delicate flavour of the Albacore tuna. Next we had the Chirashi, Spicy Tuna Maki, Yellowtail, Toro, Chop Chop and Mackerel Nigiri. The quality of the fish was good and the rice was seasoned well. Overall, the restaurant has a great ambience and the service is always quick. We've been coming here for years, and will continue to support them in our Edmonton food scene.

It's a very pricey restaurant! If you looking for a good Japanese restaurant, obviously this is a good choice. However, if you run out of your budget. I don't think is a good choice. $60 per person you will have lots of choices and very good food. If you looking for $20-30 per person with your girlfriend or boyfriend or friends. It's Not a good place. You should go all you can eat! I'm not giving this place for more than 3 stars because there was a huge table beside us. 5 people, they were super loud!!!!!! No waitress or waiters helping us. That's so bad. Not a bad place, and also not a good place.

Atmosphere is relaxed and minimalistic with a great chill vibe. Service is okay but I would say that all the times I have been there, the staff have not been super welcome or friendly. And this day was super busy, a Friday night and I don't think they had enough staff for the tables. Our dishes came by slowly which was fine because we were visiting with friends but don't expect to fly in and out. This is the one thing they can improve on. Luckily the food makes up for it. We ordered a bunch of things to share. The seasonal vegetable tempura Beef Tataki served with grated daikon, seaweed, sliced onion, ponzu dressing Black Cod with a miso marinade Japonais Premium Select -assorted chef's choice of maki rolls, sushi & sashimi We also sampled sake, beer, and Japanese whiskey Everything we had was delicous. The standout was the black cod with the miso marinade and the amazing selction of the Japonais Premium Select. A HUGE amount of rolls, sushi and sashimi. Definately worth the money if you are fine with the chef doing the choosing. Everything was super fresh. The only thing I think was just average was the tempura. It was no difference than the other places I have been to. Really worth making the reservation for, just keep in mind you may need to wait.

I ordres an assortment of them - red snapper, tuna and salmon for the sushi, California and Alberta rolls, and tempura shrimp cone. This time around I ordered the beef tataki, stir fried udon with chicken, miso soup and the 6 oz steak (for this one, a hot stone is brought to your table and you sear the steak on it; sauce are also available for this dish). I had green tea to drink and had green tea ice cream for desert. Service was very good and rapid, and very attentive and polite. The restaurant's ambiance is busy and popular, but it's quite easy to relax and enjoy the food and restaurant while there.

And after our dinner, this place will be pretty difficult to beat. We came here for our anniversary dinner. My boyfriend put in a reservation earlier, and once we arrived we were seated pretty quickly. It was a Monday night but I was so surprised at how packed the place was. This was our first time here so the server explained how ordering on the slip works. Wait time wasn't terrible. And like I mentioned before, this place was so packed and full of people. All the servers that night were weaving through aisles, delivering food, and taking orders. They were all hustling. Food was delicious. We started off with a couple of rolls like California Rolls, Avocado, Tuna, Salmon, and Tamago. The sushi rolls were pretty small, but I didn't have a problem with it. Since it's AYCE, I knew that we'd have much more food coming. I was very impressed by the quality of fish. It tasted very fresh. Also we ordered the seared Beef Nigiri and that was delicious. We ended up ordering more of that later. For the next round, we ordered Edamame, Beef (? it was like a beef galbi cut but I forgot the name of it on the menu), Chicken Skewers, Green Onion Cake, and Tempura. For our Tempura veggies we chose pumpkin, yam, and eggplant. I loved the tempura. It was definitely a highlight of the night. The batter was very crispy, light, and all the tempura came out hot. It was wonderful. We ended up getting more after the first round of tempura because it was too good. The Chicken Skewers were phenomenal. My boyfriend and I were saying that if we had the Chicken Skewers with rice, that would just be enough. The flavor of the sauce was great: savory, slightly sweet, it was reminiscent of a teriyaki flavor for me. And lastly, we had the BC Roll, Alberta Roll, Crunchy Roll, Philadelphia Roll, the seared Beef Nigiri again, and a few other rolls. At this point of the dinner we barely had any steam left but somehow we managed. Every single we thing we ate was just amazing. I wasn't disappointed by anything we ordered actually it was just great. I will say the Crunchy Roll had this smokiness that scratched my brain in the best way possible and I was so impressed by that bite. This was such an unforgettable experience and the best place we've spent our anniversary haha. 10/10, take my money. To Sushi Toshi, I'll be thinking about you.

Service was okay, but not outstanding. It also wasn't that busy. That is why this time it looses a star. Food was delicious however. Nice selection of cocktails. Which were well executed. We ordered a bunch of things. First of all we did the Dorinku sushi set. Dorinku Sushi Set -Salmon Pressed Sushi, TNT Pressed Sushi, Scallop Pressed Sushi, Tuna Tataki. Everything here was delicious. Most of the table loved the salmon and TNT pressed sushi the best, however I am a sucker for scallops and this did not disappoint. You won't go wrong with any of these selections. The fish was top tier and so fantastic. I think I will always order this here. For mains we went with the Miso Black Ramen, the vegan ramen, the tonkatsu mack and cheese, the cream udon, and the shaka shaka fries. Everyone was pleased with their dishes. I myself had the vegan ramen and the broth was full bodied and flavourful. I would also get this again. The tonkatsu mac and cheese was super rich and a steal of a deal for 13 bucks, and the others seemed to enjoy their food as well. Try it if you haven't. Really good food for a really great price.
