    Passionfruit Cheesecake with hazelnut-chocolate cakebase
    Laura L.

Very nice place to spend a foggy afternoon in Copenhagen (not only- but we did). You can even sit outside cause there are heaters and blankets. We drank hot chocolate and a Cafe Latte and had a overall delicious piece of Passionfruit Cheesecake - with hazelnut-chocolate-cakebase *yummy* and some halloween/autumn-special-cakey thing with cinnamon and apple, anyways it was delicious. The photo of the cakes is not promising to much :) And most important the waitress was really friendly and helpful! One last note: there are salty snacks to order too, like sandwiches and stuff. So every little hunger will be served ;)

Known for being the first vegan bakery in Copenhagen, Kaf was the first establishment I had to visit upon my arrival to Denmark! My husband and I shared the Kafs Brunch Deluxe, which the employee kindly let me know that we were still able to order it after noon, and I also got the varm chokolade (hot chocolate) with flødeskum (whipped cream). The hot chocolate was more warm than hot, but delicious regardless. It had a strong chocolate/cacao flavor without being overly sweet. In fact, I would've probably wanted it to be sweeter if I hadn't added the whipped cream. As for the Kafs Brunch Deluxe --which included sourdough bun with butter, cheese, homemade-nutella & jam, garnished avocado, chia yogurt with granola, berries, fresh fruit and croissant, both my non-vegan husband and I absolutely loved it and devoured the entire thing within minutes. Croissant was a bit more oily than I expected, but had the perfect crunch to each bite. Garnished avocado was super flavorful, maybe from the truffle oil that we suspect they added. Cheese felt and tasted close to an actual (non-vegan) cheese slice, with a nice, nutty aroma. But my absolute favorite was the homemade-nutella --as an ex-nutella fanatic, I hold a strict standard for "homemade" nutellas, but I must say that their version beats the original! It had a strong hazelnut flavor with just the right amount of sweetness, and to top it off, a nice crunchy texture (that probably wasn't from the nuts, but maybe cookies/chips of some sort?). The only downside was that we weren't allowed to use our laptops for work, but that seems to be a pattern over cafes in Copenhagen. I have a full list of other vegan restaurants or restaurants with vegan options that I'm planning to visit during my short stay here, but I would love to come back to Kaf to try other things on the menu, like their cakes!

So now I am happy to say I found my Ethiopian restaurant in Copenhagen. The variation that comes with the southern African sadza and the Ethiopian injera bread is what attracts me I think. Being a vegetarian I can freely choose what to eat and what not to. The same reason I'm also drawn to mezes and tapas. The restaurant in itself is quite anonymously located on Griffenfeldsgade and entering the restaurant will most likely leave you unimpressed. The lighting and interior is not that cozy. In all honesty though this according to me is genuine, many african restaurants have quite a sparse interior, I guess the food is the focus which I am all for and it won't affect my review. We ordered the vegetarian and fish dishes from the menu after consulting the friendly waitress. She then asked us if we wanted to share a plate since the plates are quite big, so we decided to do that. The beverage selection is quite limited, well, very limited to be honest, canned Tuborg is the only choice if beer is your thing. I would love to see some local Ethiopian beers or lacking that perhaps some beer that is commonplace in Africa like Lion and Castle, just to get the complete experience. Hopefully the will add this further on, but right now it brings my review down a notch. There are a lot of different flavours and eating it with your hands only adds to the experience. Prepare to get messy though. The different dishes are put on top of injera bread on a large plate, you eat by breaking of some of the pancake-similar bread and grabbing some veggies or sauces with it. Not only does it taste good, the food is plenty, you won't leave here hungry. Service was friendly and smiling. Upon leaving I told them everything was delicious and you could see the gratitude in the eyes of who I think is the owner. So we had a short conversation and he handed me a stamp card (10 dishes get one for free thing) welcoming us back. I WILL BE BACK! :)

We stumbled past the storefront while walking on a food tour or Reykjavik (something you MUST try), and the exterior was so inviting that we made a note that we needed to return. The inside is fun and vibrant. The ROYGBIV bookshelf bar counter is pleasing to the eyes, and the jet red chairs and chairs and lamp shades give a vibe of a cozy yet trendy coffee shop. The food was incredible and was affordable. You should definitely try one of the local beers. I'm not lying when I say, Iceland Beer is some of the best beer I have ever had, and I'm bummed you can't find it in the states. Viking beer was my absolute favorite. This location was very welcoming and the staff extremely hospitable. It's also located in the heart of Reykjavik. It's a must try place if you find yourself in the land of Fire & Ice! Cheers!!

I get extremely paranoid when traveling about running out of clean clothes. So a few days into our stay in Scandinavia, I was already looking to clean some clothes. After some research on "montvask " places in Copenhagen, I found the Laundromat cafe. The guy was nice to instruct on the use of the machine. It only takes 10 DKK coins and the soap comes out of the machine so I was relieved because I did not bring any detergent. The cashier was nice to give me change. The wash is 50 DKK and the dry cycle was 10 DKK for 7 minutes. I had a small load and it is a huge dryer so it took my clothes only 7 minutes to dry anyways. While waiting for the laundry to finish, you can sit inside and enjoy the free internet. Or you can eat in the cafe. We did not try the food as I wanted to try next door's food which I bookmarked via Yelp. There are also boutique shops to peruse while waiting for your laundry.

Lovely grime-y Euro-comfort food with blues on repeat…read more The decor and atmosphere is certainly blues inspired but run by hipsters. It's grime-y in a charming way but stay away if any grime bothers you. It's dingy on the inside with some nice sidewalk seats, but reeks of old cigarettes either way. Lots of folksjust hanging out for some drinks and people watching. For this they had high chairs and baby friendly. The service is great. They give of the air of not GAF but are actually attentive and charming. Food came or relatively quickly on a Friday night which was good with a hungry child. They were happy to explain things on the menu and even suggested a few things for substitution. Funnily everyone comes into the restaurant, loclas and tourirsts alike, acting confused where to sit or if there's a queue and after a dramatic pause the barkeep tells them to sit wherever and right on. The food was good. The menu looks very basic and doesn't do the food justice. The 3 salads accompanying each meal are listed without description or fanfare. You don't know which ones you'll get. We got four different ones in combination for two entrees. Even the chicken satay we ordered for our little one came with two salad sides. Two out of four were great, the others bland. Each salad is about 1/4 of a cup, fairly small. The sesame seaweed with ginger and heirloom tomato salads rocked. The guacamole (really just smash avocados without seasoning) and cabbage salad (no dressing, plain with two honeyed almonds on top) were uninspiring. We got the Manilla tofu and beef lasagna as the main dishes. The Manilla tofu was cooked just right with great sauce and an ample portion of protein compared to your average Nordic experience. The beef lasagna was decadent. It was more reminiscent of mousaka than lasagna, cheesy, pillowy, creamy, and very thin Al dented pasta. Not a whole lot of meat but very flavorful and filling. The drink list was pretty good. I had a nice primotivo for only 55 Kr. Whole bottles are reasonable finds at good prices. They also serve half bottles I'm carafes. Good brew selection too. Prices were fair for the fare. Much less expensive than many surrounding restaurants. Overall, great spot. Good to hang or eat. Not pretentious but just good enoufh food.
