We saw that thoa beach had a little a barrier wall so that we could at least take a dip. Be warned, there are lots of rocks and coral even within the barrier. I, along with others, were throwing the rocks out of the way to avoid any potential scrapes or cuts. The current was also very strong, but I believe that was because the waves were extremely large that day. I can also see this spot being a lovely snorkel place beyond the barrier when the waves are calm. There is a large grassy area and a playground for kids nearby. There is also tables and grills that I saw some locals enjoying and having a little party.

Hiking through Bamboo Forest was overall a fun hike and lots to see. It rained most of the time we were there but we didn't mind since it was a topical type of rain. However the rain makes the hike very muddy so make sure you wear proper footwear. Total hike to see all the waterfalls was about 4 miles round trip and took us about 3 hours since we stopped and took lots of photos. Bamboo Forest was definitely the highlight of our Maui trip. Tip: Don't start the hike too late in the afternoon (not after 3pm) since it takes time to hike and it feels like it gets dark fast since you are in the forest.

The day we visited there were very small waves, but even then, you could feel the oceans power - be aware and cautious! There is a $10 feet to park in the state park - we paid it, I noticed alot of people skipping it.. I cannot say if they ticket or not. At the North end of the beach there is a cove with nude sunbathers - we didnt go that far... but maybe next time...! LOL

I went over to talk to the manager about this egregious safety violation, and her response was, "I'll talk to him." I would not recommend you ever bring a child to this place!!

Dole Park is a community hub located in the island of Lana'i…read more Four blocks make up this small Downtown Lana'i City -- Lanai Avenue, Frasier Avenue, Seventh Street, and Eighth Street and Dole Park is right smack dab in the middle of it. The park is in the center of the Island where on both sides are little shops and restaurants. Actually, most of Lana'i's businesses and restaurants line the park. We hung out here for awhile between our exploring and enjoyed the peacefulness and occasional light breeze. The open space park is clean and surrounded by tall Norfolk Pines and Cook Island Pine trees providing lots of shade to a grassy area. The picnic tables are spaced out nicely and scattered throughout the park. There are also some covered picnic areas, restrooms and a working pay phone. LoL! (what is that?!). They have cool signs on each end of the park. Dole Park was built in the 1920's when the plantation village was established. Community events like the Saturday Market, annual Pineapple Festival and Fifth Friday events take place here. Review #2684

Two enclosures with a walkway in between where you will find picnic tables and barbecue grills and a recycling spot for your beverage containers. I hardly ever see anybody using this park, but I don't frequent it very often. It appears to be well-maintained and easily accessible. There were a lot of flies, possibly because it does get used by dogs a lot. There are not very many dog parks on Maui, so it's good to know this is here if you live on the southside.
